I know I saw the sticky and everything, but I really don't think it's that big of a deal. All other emulation and such talk is allowed but Halo 2 isn't? Whatever, Icy Guy just has bias. I mean, if you really HAVE to you can lock or delete this post I guess but I'm still blaming prejudice.

Emulation talk and links to where to find ROMs are two entirely different things. We've talked about emulation, yes, but as far as ROM links go, they're against the rules and have always been deleted.

Whatever, Icy Guy just has bias.

How does forewarning people not to post links to a pirated copy of Halo 2 make Icy biased? That makes absolutely no sense :p

Anyway, this is the first I'm hearing of this. I doubt anyone would be able to get it easily anyway -- the file would be too large, and any servers it would be on would be too slow from huge bandwidth-suckage. It would be just as much of a waste of time as downloading a movie.

Edit: Just read (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/low/technology/3743110.stm) that the file is around 3 gigabytes. With the final copy on shelves in roughly 20 days, it would pretty much take you that amount of time to download it :p

Heh, I posted a topic about this on IGN and it was locked to prevent all the users there form searching for it online. >_<

Yeah, I suppose that would be true if this were the 80's.

I actually found a halo 2 crack yesterday over p2p, isn't that to allow the game to play on a machine without the disk?

Yeah, I suppose that would be true if this were the 80's.

No, really -- the best chance anyone would have is to use a P2P program, and those bloody things are always queued for hours. Days, even.

HTTP-wise, it would take me 7 hours to download, but that all depends on the server I would be downloading off of.

I think the whole thing is a futile effort. Especially for those of us with no patience ;)

I'd just log in to certain ftp servers and get it in hours, if I wanted to play it in French. I would recommend IRC over p2p.

Bittorent is always good. You upload what you have to people while you download the rest off others. It's good, as said in the pervious sentence.

Going at full speed on ADSL it wouldn't take that long and for serious fans it'd be nothing.

The DVD's just keep coming. DKC 2 I've had since August :D but the DS comes out Much sooner there than here :( Well I think that makes us even. Ofcourse I've never really properly seen any Halo game so I can't say how I feel about Halo 2. I am Completly Neutral.

As am I. I have no X-box, and I don't plan on getting one anytime soon. Maybe far into the future, when you could buy one for five dollars and the games are like 11 cents, and people are all calling those type of games oldskool.

You know what? I'm about to say something surprising. Halo 2 isn't amazing. That's right. I went to the launch party and I've played it before. (My dad advertises for them.) And it isn't exactly that original.

Originality isn't everything. I think the game has been excellent so far. I've already found quite a few major improvements on the original, not to mention it's been a blast :)

Unfortunately, I have to take a little break since my poor old 19 year old eyes are getting sore from staring at my TV :(

I'm not saying that it is a bad game. What I'm saying is that after a bit, I got bored with it. I'd give it a 8.5/10 even. But I expected more.

I haven't played either of the games, and I probably won't. I don't have anything against the game...it would be unfair to say anything without even playing it. :p But I'm not a fan of first-person shooters.

Speaking of Halo 2...one of the guys I talk to left at 7:00 PM to get in line at GameStop for the opening at 12:00 AM. He was first in line. :D

Pish-posh Oh my gosh! I was actually a bit too harsh on Halo 2. Now that I have completed campaign mode and played multi-player A LOT I will revise my rating. Now it's a 9/10 :D

Icy Guy
12th November 2004, 01:37 AM
...

I'd give it a 9/10, at the most. Did you actually watch the ending, and notice the graphical pop-in? :p

Hey, anybody want to fund an XBox Live account for both Icy and myself? ;)
Hey, I kinda like the sound of that. ;)

(Or at least enough to fund the appropriate networking equipment, in my case, since I could probably put some birthday money towards Live.)

Apparantly the ending is *really* bad, cliff-hanger like or so I'm told.

Now NO SPOILING but is that actually the case?

Oh Bungie...why?!?!?!

My theory is that they're simply concerned more with leaving the door open for Halo 3 than for wrapping up what they started in Halo 2.

Gold Jinjo

Well I just finished Halo 2 and yes, the ending felt a bit cheap. But the game was a blast nonetheless. Halo 2 contained a lot more vehicle combat, and it always got insane making for some really entertaining fights. I liked the weapons a little more this time around, as well. I think the only thing that really suffered in Halo 2 was the story. Everything else was just a much better version of "more of the same".

Also, Halo 2 is compatible with XBox Live (almost a requirement for XBox games these days ;)) which wasn't around when the original Halo was made. It'll be very beneficial to those of us who don't have east access to real-live participants. ;)

I'm the only one that loved the ending apparently. It satisfied me as a finale to the 2nd one as well as an opening to the 3rd one.

Then again, I'm the only one that liked the ending of Matrix Reloaded too. I must have a unique taste for cliff-hangers...

Then again I enjoyed the entire story of Halo 2, which also doesn't seem to be too common. I was less impressed with the modifications to multi-player than I was with the extra effort put into campaign that I felt while playing.

Then again I don't have X-box Online... that may effect my judgement and lack of interest in multiplayer. I had three friends come over the day after release (wanted to play it myself :P) and we played it for about 5 hours... it just felt like a slightly renovated form of the multiplayer from Halo 1. Different guns, different maps, same exact play theory. Eh.

Personally at first I was giving the game a rating around a 6.5, maybe 7. Towards the last couple missions of the game however, everything was just getting a more active, interesting feel to it and my personal opinion jolted up to an 8.5. Which I know is probably the first and only non-9+ score for this game in existence, but hey, what can I say I'm overcritical. I only gave Halo 1 a 5.5. The X-box fan boys lit me up for that one...

Edit: Wow, poor wordchoice galore. I started THREE paragraphs with "Then again"... I'll leave them here just so everyone can go "WOW poor wordchoice galore" on their own.

Make that two of us -- Reloaded is my favorite of the three. I could watch it over and over and over... ;)

Agreed. It had everything the first one was lacking but lacked everything the third one overkilled. I could easily watch the 2nd one for days... ending and all.

When I had the first 2 on DVD and the 3rd was in the cinemas (my town's cinemas are a little slow at getting the good movies) I watched the 1st movie 3 times, the 2nd movie twice and the 3rd one at the cinemas once. This was all over 2 days. I didn't mind the ending of the second one.

Hakey Wake

I liked the third one over the second one, the Zion War on the dock was awesome in the cinema.
