View Full Version : Could BK3 be Rare's top-selling 360 title?

What's their top selling title right now, Perfect Dark: Zero or Kameo? It's definitely not Viva Pinata.
I was wondering about this and a couple of other things, too:
1. Will the move to XBox alienate a lot of N64 owners who most likely developed onto the Gamecube and the Wii? Personally, I was an N64 owner who went onto the Gamecube AND XBox and then Wii AND 360...but how many are there?
2. Could it, with that in mind, sell out Rare's existing 360 titles?

1. Maybe
2. YES.

Well, it's obvious it COULD - any game, potentially, could.
Reasoning would be nice, too.

Most teenage xbox 360 gamers played the n64 as kids and would want to play bk3.

PDZ so far is Rare's highest selling game for the 360, over 1 million copies, Kameo is a third of that, anyway what Rare has going for them is what Tanjo said, but it won't work unless it's advertised quiet a bit, and it does have a high chance of beating PDZ, since Banjo-Kazooie is Rare's most recognized original series. Another thing they have to do is release it at the right time.

Which is, essentially, Christmas, right?
Summer or Christmas but personally, I think they'd make more money on Christmas. I bet we'll see it Christmas 2008, eh.

i think it could, Microsoft seem to have high hopes for it, as it's one of the few games to attract a younger, nintendo playing audience. they'll promote it a fair bit i believe

Well, maybe once 08 hits because right now they aren't saying **** and it's shrouded in too much secrecy. That CG trailer tells us so little, so very very little.
We don't know if those models will be in the final game. All we know is Spiral Mountain, honeycombs, notes and Jigsaw pieces are coming back. The basics. Boring.
Start promoting now and I might just believe...it could dethrone PD:Zero.

Banjo-3? It can dethrone Halo 3 if we work hard enough. *cracks up*
By the way, I'm an n64 --> GCN and XBox --> Wii (and 360 I hope) owner. XD

Considering that Halo 3 will not come with online multiplayer, that actually has a very slim chance of happening.

Many people are buying a X Box 360 because of this game, so yes

Actually I was serious. It does have a slim chance.
It's kinda hard to indicate tone of voice on the internet.

What the hell? :p
1) It isn't launching with online co-op. Big difference.
2) No. There is absolutely no chance.

It probably will dethrone PDZ but not by much. The problem is very few Xbox owners are the platforming type. ( I am going to buy the 360 but I am a Wii fan first) Mircosoft's market is the online multiplayer first/third person shooters filled with blood and guts with players with EXTREMELY HIGH PITCHED VOICES scream "**** you ******. Or I fraged you fairy" Not exactly the ..... rareware idea market. The only two games that rareware has made that would do well in this market is Perfect Dark (shooter) and Conker (dirty language and toliet humor) they are both great games but two game series don't save a company. Other than Viva Pinata and Kameo name one other cute and cuddly game on the 360 (Raving Rabbits don't count thats a port) The point is, BK3 will do better than Perfect Dark but no where as good as it would have been if it was released on the Wii. If it was on the Wii I'd say it would sell about 3 million copies :D. HEY why doesn't Rareware make a Jet Force Gemini game. I mean thats got guns and blood. :-) and multiplayer possiblities. Thats perfect for Xbox

Its quite possible that it will be, as long as most of it's loyal fans buy the game, that'll definately help. But then again, since so many bratty 13 year olds who only like Halo, won't even touch the game, therefor hurting it's sales by a bit.

It could be, well in my opinion it would be likely if enough people could appreciate a classic game's comeback EGM actually asked Peter Moore if B3 was to be Rare's last hope to make a good selling game while it being worthwhile. Since Viva Piņata didn't sell as they expected, mainly because half of X360 gamers are more hardcore than casual, Viva Piņata did not sell well because of this since it's aimed at a younger audience just as B3 will.
(Believe me, Perfect Dark Zero is one of the worst launch titles ever, the only reason it was bought was that their wasn't any pretty good game besides PGR3 when it launched, until Call of duty 2 and GRAW came to the rescue.)
Im getting B3 the day it comes out, but i think it will go through the same sales as Viva Piņata.
(and don't hate me for saying it wont sell like Halo 3.)

EGM asked Moore that? In their latest issue or what?
I feel it'll go through slightly better sales than Pinata unless it gets a killer marketing campaign.

Not only will BK3 be Rare's top-selling game, but it'll sell more copies than any game in the history of forever, even beating Super Mario Bros. 3.

Oh, sorry. I really didn't pay much attention once they said "Halo" on G4. I apologize for my incorrect information.
So now I agree with number 2.
