RWPMT III (The Final Chapter of the Trilogy is Always the Biggest)

For months (actually, years) people have begged me to complete the second RWPMT bracket or to start a fresh tournament; however, I've always been hesitant and unproductive on the matter. Today, though, I've received another PM about it from dmoss which made me change my mind about it and kick it into high gear. Why now after all this time? Who knows. It just feels right now.

Being that this is the third one I have to make it considerably larger than the others. How am I going to do that? With multiple competitions going on at the same time, of course. The breakdown will look like this.

Part Zero
A pre-poll will be held to narrow the list of 96 down to 64.

Part 1
Member Brawl starts with 64 people, 32 1vs1 division opening matches.

Part 2
Member Brawl is down to 32 people, 16 1vs1 division regular matches.
Loser Brawl starts with 32 people, 16 1vs1 opening matches.
Disqualified Brawl starts with 32 people, 16 1vs1 opening matches.

Part 3
Member Brawl is down to 16 people, 8 1vs1 division regular matches.
Loser Brawl 2 starts with 16 people, 8 1vs1 opening matches.

Disqualified Brawl is down to 16 people, 8 1vs1 regular matches.

Part 7
The Disqualified Brawl, Alt Brawl and Banned Brawl champions are crowned.

The Member Brawl, Loser Brawl, Veteran Brawl and Admin Brawl champions will go into one last 4 way match to crown the ultimate victor.

Exclusions
As the winner of the first tournament, I will abstain from the drawing. Similarly, anyone who wins this tournament will be restricted from future tournaments.

Also, because of the unfortunately low amount of administrators, SubDrag will be placed into the admin bracket (excluded from the member brawl) and Mandy will be placed into the member bracket (excluded from the admin brawl). It's unfortunate and I wish I could put them both in both but things wouldn't line up right and we could potentially see double winners that way.

Wario, despite being banned, is an unusual case and thus has been entered into the retired brawl instead of the banned brawl.

Inclusions
I will slowly be updating this section with the inclusion list. In the meantime you can suggest people in this topic and they will be taken into consideration.

NOTE: There are 96 names on the list, but only 64 will be moving forward to the actual tournament. A pre-poll exercise will determine which lucky 64 members it will be.

You already are in the tournament. You don't have a qualifying match because I put you straight into the bracket.

The 32 people who don't have to qualify were selected via Grey Jinjo bias. They are the main 32 people that I thought would win a qualifying match regardless so didn't waste time setting one up for them.

On an interesting note, I've tallied 10 of the submitted votes so far (there are still plenty in my PM box to count -_-). Some matches are actually TIED 5-5 at the moment, while other are separated by large spreads. Many could go either way. It's fun ;).

Some things are throwing me, though. Like, I knew some members would win but I never suspected how bias/slanted the votes would be.

The results will be fun and only moderately predictable.

Yeah, every round is done when I feel like enough people voted. Right now we have 21 votes which is a decent turnout for the prelims (which usually get the least amount of votes... probably because people don't know everyone on the list as well and are less inclined to vote?).

Since there are 96 people involved in the tournament, I'll wait a bit to see how many more votes accrue before starting the official first round.

There seems to be some question as to why there are 32 already in the bracket so I'll clarify.

I made a listing that came out to 96 people, but the bracket was intended to only hold 64. To reach that number, I had to eliminate 32 of the 96 people (hence 32 matches). I couldn't put EVERY ONE of the 96 people into a qualification match because that would eliminate 48 people, obviously.

There were a lot of surprise victories and unexpected leads in this round. Some people that I expected to be only votes apart were actually separated by more than ten or twenty votes! Regardless, I hope the winners are excited by their victory and that the losers are pumped to take over the disqualification bracket that starts in round 2.

Vote count is not shown as is customary of every qualification round since RWPMT I. However, this time around I decided to show you guys the vote count – at the end of the whole tournament. It will be another extra conclusion bonus.

Although I won’t give you exact counts until next round, I will give you some random statistics.
1) There were 31 voters.
2) RareBK, gdsmzroll, fategirl132, and lamentofking only lost by a measly ONE vote. Sorry to them :(.
2b) There were plenty of other really close matches as well!
3) MVPs Avarice and Ice Lightning has the largest spread (the biggest winning gap in votes).
4) Recovery king slaphappy was losing to Roystein by over 10 votes but only lost by 3 in the end.

I am working on the brackets for both the qualified AND disqualified members right now. I hope to have them up and have round 1 started soon. Stay tuned :).

The 'Disqualified' Section is actually a 'Pre-Tournament Knock-out' Section. The list grew bigger than the 64 and some had to be knocked out. A round was held and the losers were placed into this list.

Think of Round zero as a qualifying round and the disqualified list as the people who didn't qualify for the tournament due to lack of votes.

Every way is fine. The ways I prefer in order, though, are...

1a) Bold or underline the winner.
1b) Erase the loser.
2) Write the winner after both names (banjofan01 vs franklin: banjofan01)
3) In a list format (A, B, C, D).

I was assuming the whole 'Sad Panda' ordeal originated from the South Park episode about the Sexual Harassment Panda. He does, afterall, say those very words when the school board fires him.

It's more time consuming than you'd imagine because I have to go in and change 32 numbers 1 by 1 for each person that votes. With 37 voters, it takes 1,184 number changes. Not to mention the fact that I write every username down in advance to check for double-voting and I save each PM in a round-specific folder to prevent any future fraudulent claims.

Plus I have to eat dinner in a couple of minutes, so o-O.

I have 26 of 37 done now. I can leak the results division by division when I finish counting (due to the short blurbs) or I can take longer and release them all at once. Which you do you prefer?

This was the best possible match to start off round one. It left many members scratching their heads over who to pick and ultimately to this amazingly close match. An upset is always a terrific beginning.

Icy Guy usually does pretty good in these tournaments due to his modship, supervet status, and general friendly attitude. However, it seems like his low-key inactivity has finally taken a toll on his tournament power, leaving the up-and-coming owner of fifty-seven different websites, Hylian1, to take him over. This marks the FIRST moderator defeat if the tournament which bodes well for Hylian in his RWPMT future.

Theguyoverthere has been slowly building his reputation over his RWP lifespan. Unfortunately, he was a victim of bad seeding in the form of the powerhouse Gold Jinjo. Although the match-up seems unjust, perhaps Tgot can use the loss to his advantage and conquer the Loser Bracket.

Dylan Yoshi (23) vs Zeek (14)
This wins the “most confusing match ever” award for the way in which the contenders switched positions. First, Zeek held a controlling lead over Dylan Yoshi. Then, DY came back and completely destroyed Zeek. Following that massacre, Zeek began receiving every single vote! If the voting session continued, Zeek could have potentially overtaken DY.

R Hunter (25) vs Mystery Man (12)
User who occasionally appears from nowhere and posts vs user who occasionally appears from nowhere and posts. Despite sounding like the perfect setup for a tie, R hunter hadsecret variables on his side to push him into a smooth win.

Atomic Breegull (35) vs dark jedi ben (2)
Atomic Breegull has proven to be the MVP of round one by scoring a larger vote spread than any other member. Is this a result due to AB’s strength, or djb’s weakness? Atomic Breegull will get the chance to prove the former next round.

Gruntling (28) vs Ice Lightning (9)
Although it isn’t evident by the results, this match was really close and had me wondering who would win in the beginning. Looking at the votes and where they came from I can tell that IL, despite his loss, will be a remarkable force to be reckoned with in the Loser’s Bracket. Of course, Gruntling will have a wall of power behind him in his respective bracket too.

It was hard to predict how this match would turn out to any degree. Who would win? By how much? Would it be close or a blow out? In my opinion, every question was unanswerable until now. This match plainly was what it was, and soulreaper walked away the victor.

BKSonic1234 (11) vs Mandy (26)
BKSonic is a strong member that could have probably held his own in a multitude of other matches. With Mandy being the only admin in the regular member brawl though, his chances began to dwindle. Hopefully he can seek vengeance in the loser’s bracket to make up for his foul-lucked seeding.

I grouped these two matches together because it felt more like a tag match to me. 95% of the votes that came in either voted for both GJ and xxx or for DK and SSJ. Only once or twice in the entire round did someone intermix their votes. I guess now members will be forced to choose between at least two of them.

I’m sure the gap in votes of this match comes as a surprise to at least a few members. All signs point to Fox and fire seem being similar-tier members of the RWP community, but the results show that Mr. McBanjo is clearly the fan favorite.

hatrickpatrick (9) vs dmoss (28)
Dmoss yields the best results of any time served/votes received equation. Despite not being registered as long as most of the vets, he certainly has acquired a near vet status as displayed in this battle. As for hatrick, perhaps being a snitz original and top-notch hacker will assist him in the loser’s bracket.

For a match that had tons of potential to end 18-19, the results were alarmingly stacked. During the match though, the two began battling fiercely, constantly taking each other over in votes. Eventually the raging war was cut off and pinky support began to swarm.

Repobanjo received an extraordinary amount of votes this round given the opponent he had to face. Hopefully this speaks volumes for his member-strength and will give him the edge he’ll definitely need for his second match.
