I'm about to explode, I can't wait. I don't think I'll be able to drive out of the parking lot without opening up the box and spending a few moments with PictoChat, Metroid Hunters and Mario 64.
And there's a thumb strap and two stylus's!! Whee hee hee!
*ahem* So, I thought I'd propose a forum idea -- either a Nintendo DS forum, or a portable gaming forum in general. Simply because the only Nintendo forum here is the 'Cube forum, which is dead most of the time. And I don't think there has ever been this much excitement about a Nintendo system. Have you seen the ads?
"Go on, touch it. Come on, touch that naugty DS. Oh, you're a bad little Nintendo, aren't you?"
...okay, they don't say that exactly, but similar in effect ;)

Yay, DS in Six months is more like it.
And for $240 compared to the NTSC $149.99.

Well, my NTSC Nintendo DS will cost me $189.99, coupled with all the taxes in Saskatchewan, Canada comes out to a little over $200 for the system itself. Then, along with a $60+ copy of Mario 64 DS... I'm looking at about the same price as you, Hakey ;)
Damn USD. Like everything else down there, it has to be dominant :p
Hopefully the Canadian dollar continues to rise. Then Americans won't be able to come up here to buy things cheaper -- like prescription drugs. Our free health-care system is suffering enough without Americans thinking they can come up here and demand flu shots, and then bitch when they have to wait in line like everyone else.
Err...
</end rant>
Heh heh, due to unexpected demand, Nintendo has to keep up with pre-orders (http://news.com.com/Nintendo+reacts+to+DS+demand+as+orders,+share+pric e+rise/2100-1043_3-5453109.html) alone.
I'm pretty confident that I won't have to pre-order. It all depends where you live, really. It's still amazing though.

I know, I hate having to wait so long after the US to get things. It Hardly ever works the other way around. That's why I like the fact that I had DKC 2 for GBA a long time before the others that want it.

Australia's Currency is so screwed up. It costs USD$149.99, even with the AUD around $0.76 we end up paying like 3-4 times as much I hate it .

I know what you mean. Cause I live in the middle of no-where the place I go to get things always have plenty while the cities are running out. That's one good thing about being out of the city.

Well, if it helps to console you who live out of the NTSC region, I might not be getting a copy until a year or so. Or never.

But that's with a game though, it's $240 for the actual system on it's *own* here.

True. I still know the feeling though. The Canadian exchange rate was so bad in 2001, I had to pay almost $300 for my GameCube alone, plus $80 for Luigi's Mansion. Not to mention the $30 memory card.

When I first got my Gamecube it cost me (from memory) $312, the memory cards were somewhere between $20-$30 and the games were $100 (90 something).
Looks like the only ones who never have to worry are the Americans. Right Gold, Hakey. Us three can storm the US, take over and get cheap products. Me in the name of Australia, Gold and Hakey for Canada and Scotland respectively.

Hakey: Not at all...

Taking on the American market sounds good to me.
And I payed £320 for my GCN which is the equivalent of $593.97 *now*. (Not sure what inflation rates are/were)

I don't see why Europe is getting the shaft as per usual when it comes to releasing things considering the DS is *!(^%_@ region free.
The only possibility I can think of is producing enough units to keep the JAP/US markets happy is a strain as it is, and entering another market would mean that supply wouldn't meet demand.
Though I don't know what demand, very few people around here know what a DS is, same with 'Cube.
