Rare says Banjo-Kazooie sequel on the Xbox 360 is currently in the designing stages in an interview with PC Zone magazine.
"The team is pretty much full-on with designing it at the moment, and the last thing on their minds is whether it'll make it to other platforms", Rare designer Justic Cook said.
So don't expect it to be released any time soon guys...

I say late 2008 at least till BK3 is released.

I didn't expect it to be released until at least May-December 2008 anyway, so it isn't a big shock. It's only been a little over a year since it was announced. I doubt I'd be surprised if it came out in 2009, however I would loose my temper.

Still in the designing stages? Forget it. We'll be lucky if it's before 2010.

PC Zone magazine? WTF? Why would they go out of their way to interview Rare about BK3?
And I really doubt that entire levels and worlds the basic structure/engine of the game HASN'T been fine-tuned or at the very least, well established by now. By designing, they probably mean finishing up developing it.
If they are still at the drawing board and designing what everything will look like/function - that's ridiculous. I highly doubt it, somehow.

From all of what's been said about it, it sounds like Rare is trying their best just to make it well worth our money. You won't hear me complaining. And I doubt I'll hear any of you complaining when the game finally hits shelves.
You should just be grateful that they're taking their time with it.

Designing means just what it says: they're still designing, building up the groundwork. With the game still in the core design process, Rare has still got a long ways to go.

Yea, I knew it. Rare probably can't come out with some sort of concrete idea that can begin the games entire formula, I'd take those odds, I knew development on B3 was not going to be as easy as it was on the N64. Taking a 10 year old game concept and trying to create a more modern concept is indeed very dificlut.
And all you guys were complaining that Rare isn't releaseing any info, this will probably explain you that reason. I still have a lot of faith that B3 can make a glorious comeback. But until now, it is one of the games that worries me the the most.

I'm sorry but I really doubt they've been "building up the ground work" for the last year and a bit. Especially considering they apparently started on the game a year before that trailer came out.
Sounds like as gross a misinterpretation of that as your comment regarding us apparently having recieved a "plethora" of BK3 information.
You can't designate what "designing" referred to in that context. It could just as easily meant developing instead of the basic idea of it referring to any sort of drawing board status for BK3.

Thats exactly what design stages is refering to, Design stages is one of the earliest steps in video game design, 4th step if im correct (Initial plot/story script writing, character design, conceptual art,) If the game itself does not have a name yet, under what evidence can you support your idea that the game is according to you apporximatly 1/2 year in development? Design stage means that they still have to come up with rough character, world, detail, and enviroment design, which means that they have difficluties trying to come up with a concrete idea for this design. Which brings the hope that Banjo's dissapointing image, still has chances of going through a change.

well theyd have to be just about finished in the developing stage, because all the Banjo team had been doing for the last year or so, so they've either been doing nothing and just started recently OR they've taken their time and made it good.

If they're taking this long to just do the design, this game will be so awesome once it's done.

Rare said recently that they will release screenshot soon (but not like, tomorrow), so it seems they've made SOMETHING. :P

i bet by the time they get to post production, microsoft will release info on their next console, the Xbox 768869.4 and Rare will be drawn by it's better than real-life graphics and completely start the game again for the new platform

Or, they will come out with Viva Pinata party animals 2 ds and Banjo will be thrown aside.

Well, even if this isn't what we hoped for, this is at least some sort of update, albeit no screens or anything. However, if they're taking this long w/just the devlopment stages, we can look at it from two perspectives: A) the game is so *****in that all this hard long work is really worth it, or B) they are just really slow & want to piss us off. I vote for the first option, but I'm sure others will choose the second out of spite. Anyways, I'm still gonna wait patiently for this, & until it's finished, I have BK, BT, & BK:GR to satisfy me.........

I just want to see one in-game screenshot, and I'll be satisfied. Although I'm still standing firm to the fact that, when Rare gives us more info, there'll be a lot of it.

Exactly. I think people are jumping to define the 'designing' comment when it could mean a whole number of things. Designing the levels/developing the chunk of the game could mean they have gotten past drawing-board levels of design. Design can infer - to properly use the term - a plethora of things.

That's a really good way to look at things. I've got like $2.50 saved up in the past month, so that's a plus.
I am glad that they are taking there time, I just hope the won't pull a DNF.

Yeah, I find it a bit hard to swallow that Banjo has been in that stage for that long. Perhaps when the representative said they were still designing it, he didn't mean they were literally in the designing stage of the game. If he did, that really sucks for us Banjo hopefully because it suggests no BK3 until the end of the decade like Sub mentioned.

Again - - exactly. Yet people take an interview with a PC magazine, which regardless of the publication of the issue month-wise, could be taken from any time. And even if it was a fresh statement, taking and accepting such a direct meaning of 'designing stages' when it could mean a PLETHORA of things in regards to a development cycle is silly.
I said this already but I thought I'd hammer it in again because it's fun to state the obvious.

In order for it to have the meaning people are taking it to have they would have to have to done nothing BEFORE the trailer (which they obviously had to in order to have something to show) and done very, VERY little in the entire past year.

Yes, exactly. And yet people want to take the designing stage definition literally. And this isn't even about a bunch of Banjo fans fighting back tears at the notion of Banjo still being in preliminary design stages. It's about common sense.
Which, I'm glad to see, most of the folk around here got. Makes me feel less crazy for my initial comments.
