Which one do you think is the best?

Hakey Wake

I think GCN is the best system, though I was forced to buy a PS2 for the Metal Gear Solid games.

Zeanith

Yeah.
My mind is made up.
My sister and I are going to purchase whatever Microsoft system the next Banjo--Kazooie game is out on so we can play it. :D

Some Banjo Guy

Gamecube has to be the best system.
I can't buy a X-Box because it can't fit in my living room. Have you seen the size of that thing?

Grey Jinjo

Well, I admit I think X-box is the best console and voted accordingly. However, I show clear bias towards Gamecube and purchase more games for it.

Hmmmmmm.

Well best technically speaking, the XBox is the most powerful system. (Just though)

It has the best online plan by leaps and bounds over GCN, and in terms of it being their first ever console Microsoft have really done everything right in establishing a user base.

Although I doubt any other company could lose so much money on their system and still be in the game.

I'm not really sure which I would pick as the best. I voted for all of them because of that. If I had to pick one I might pick the GCN but that's only because I'm a nintendo fan first.

I'm also a nintendo fan boy but I enjoy games on all three so I voted for them all. I'm hoping to get an X-Box soon so I don't have to hit up my cousin to play hers anymore.:D

They are acctually quite the same when you play them for quite some time.
i'v got each system and some games for them that i play almost regurlarly so i like them all, but if i really had to choose it would probably be the GCN.

Gamecube for me.

They all have their strong points. For example, you want a platformer? Pick up your Gamecube. Want a fighter? Fire up your Xbox. Want something to prop the door open? Get your PS2.

Rather than chosing a "best", I'm going to defend gameplay here and say that as long as I can play a good game, XBox, GameCube and PlayStation are on equal footing.

*Agrees with Gold*

With that said, I think the majority of the good games are spread equally between PS2 and Gamecube, although, (according to your preferences), I'd say PS2 has the better library: Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Legacy of Kain to name a few.

Kaz da Breegull

I agree with Gold. :D I play my GCN and PS2 the most, though.

...c'mon, we all know that the NES is the best, guys.

Grey Jinjo

I thought we were judging by the hardware itself, not the software. As far as games go I think all three are equal. (Well, no, don't Gamecube and PS2 have a LOAD more console-exclusive games?) If we're going by playing on them I enjoy playing on all three equally. Like Ice said, they all have their strong points. X-box may run smoother than Gamecube, but Gamecube has less loading time, etc.

Ah yes the very first system I ever played. My first game was the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt combo, To this day thanks to Duck Hunt my FPS skills are top notch.;)

Grey Jinjo

...

Duck hunt and FPS are two entirely different styles of play. Would one even have baring over the other?

R Hunter
21st February 2005, 02:40 AM
True they are different but as you progressed in duck hunt you had to aim and make decisions progressively faster, something that's shared by an FPS. Your aiming and timing have to be perfect right?

Grey Jinjo
21st February 2005, 02:49 AM
Making decisions progressively faster is something shared by most games. Also, the aiming is different. In one you had to turn your crosshair on the screen... In FPS, if you want to shoot to your left you have to turn to the left and fire. In Duck Hunt you could shoot wherever you wanted whenever you want. Two entirely different kinds of aiming.

Gold Jinjo
21st February 2005, 03:09 AM
I think static and dynamic would best describe Duck Hunt and your average FPS, respectively.

Like Grey said, Duck Hunt had a fixed perspective and location, whereas Halo, for instance, you walk around, turn, look up/down, crouch, fly, etc. Not to say Duck Hunt can't help your FPS skills to a certain degree, however the game definitely won't help you to circle-strafe ;)

Incidentally, there was a version of Duck Hunt for Windows that used Doom graphics, weapons and sound. Well I thought it was relevant :p

Oh, and I voted for "Eggplant" because if Koopa Village taught me one thing: Redundant poll options need to be voted on.

R Hunter
21st February 2005, 03:14 AM
yep that it won't:D. And who made that Windows version?

EDIT: I was wondering who voted for eggplant:D I should've known.

Haha...I found it pretty amusing. Thanks for the link, Gold!

The deep growling sounds that the dog and ducks made were great. :D

PS2 kills GCN in the platforming dept, really. ;)

I can't understand why Nintendo haven't released more than just SMS to satisfy my platforming needs. :(

Ice Mario
21st February 2005, 11:11 AM
Don't forget Starfox Adventures. Sure it wasnt quite a true platformer, but then you have the Metroid Prime games., although not really just a platformer, but... am I clutching at straws?
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat!! There!!

If it's any consellation, my arms were incredibly sore after frantic bongo-escapades.

Also, I am extremely annoyed that the PS2 isn't 100% compatible with PS1 games. (Only discovered this yesterday as MGS crashed after the end credits and Special Missions wouldn't work at all)

Hi, Para. ;)

Yeah that happened with me too the Special missions not working, Breath of Fire 3 also doesn't seem to work just after the intro when i try to go to another area.. but i bought a PSone (I actually bought 2 ehehee.) and it all works fine...

Hakey Wake

But I bought my PS2 to save me from having to buy a PS1. :(

Now it seems, Sony have me cornered.

Yes, at least for online play. That dog alone prepared me for the future of people yelling "kekeke" and other various forms of mockery whenever screw ups occurred. Sadly though, it didn't really help my aim much, nor did it prepare me for rantings of idiots such as "OMFG noObz hax!!11one" or "OMG Camper! Watta noob." This is why I don't play FPSs today.

As for the best system...Super Nintendo. Wait, newer systems....I think I'll choose the Eggplant option thanks. (While I've played each of the "new" systems (if you can really call them that now), I really haven't liked them enough to actually buy the systems.)

Hmm eggplant has a good chace of winning if it gets more votes then the GCN.

Hmm now it's a race between GCN and Xbox. GCN will win of course because it's just cooler:D

Size of the Gamecube compared to the size of the X-box:

Gamecube = [G]

X-Box =

At least the Xbox isn't claiming to be a cube, like the Gamecube, which isn't actually a cube. ;)

Hakey Wake
28th February 2005, 08:27 AM
But the XBox isn't an actual box either...

Although it does come in a fine black/green one, which I had more fun with than the actual system.

(Hah! J/K :p )
