I've been thinking about doing this for a long time... but I've finally made up my mind. I'm leaving, and it's going to be for good this time.

Certain things about the forums have been annoying me for a while: trends, members, and so on. I won't say any names here. The RWP today is a lot different from what it was a few years ago, and to be honest I miss the "old RWP" a lot. I can't stand the internet in general nowadays, mostly due to all this stupid 4chan and "lulz" crap. At least on LJ and deviantART, the other two sites I frequent, I can stay away from it.

I want to say that I'm sincerely sorry to the friends I have here, including Grey, Gold, Icy Guy, GM2K, Mandy, Gruntling, Banjo's Banjo, Mandolin, Alex, and many others. Especially you, Grey, because you've done so much for me during my time here.

If people would just realise this is a serious forum for serious discussion, maybe we could return to the old RWP, but apparently some people think that forums are the equivalent of 4chan. It ruins the fun, tbh. Sure, i post one liners every once and awhile, and some of the joke topics are cool, but a rather large majority of AAG has turned into 4chan's /b/. It's ... rather sickening if you ask me. If you want to post 4chan-related things, post them on 4chan. Srsly.

Since you signed up back in the UBB days, you consistently made posts that contributed to the discussion at hand and you acted nice to almost everyone (I don't recall you being overly fond of spammers and trolls). You continued showing both of those qualities on the vB, whether it was in a topic about hate crimes or science/weather/NHS ceremonies (I agree that the induction ceremony was very cult-like). It was only a matter of time before you made moderator status, and it was great seeing a deserving member get assigned that title. How many other forums have dolphin-safe moderators? Very few, I bet.

Maybe someday the obsession with "lulz" and 4chan will go the way of the obsession with Goatse and screamers. If that happens, can we expect to see you back? I hope so; I'm sure you know that the door is always open. :)

I originally had a lengthy rant typed up about this, but that, along with my thoughts on the state of online console gaming, is a rant for a different post (and a time when I'm not sick). All I'm going to say here is that you hit the nail right on the head.

I know I've felt on occasion that this place isn't fun and I feel like I don't belong here, but it always subsides. I think that just comes with being a veteran. You're always going to have those "good old days" as a benchmark, but those days will never be back. You just have to make the best out of the "good new days" :)

I second the suggestion of at least taking a break until all the 4chan crap quells down some. It was Kaz's decision to leave, and no one but Kaz is to blame for her departure. Not 4chan, or individual members. When you start blaming people flame wars develop.
