Read the story at Nintendo Insider. (http://nintendoinsider.com/site/EEElVpZAkVAevkPxxW.php) Although I do not currently own an HDTV, I imagine that they are going to be standard in the future. This is not a good move by Nintendo.

Hmmm
Maybe Panasonic will, again, do what nintendo won't... They sure saved the GC's butt on DVDs...

Hardly.

The bloody thing was only available in Japan, and then it wasn't long before Panasonic stopped making them all together. As for HDTV, yeah... it probably would have helped their image if they included it (figuratively, and literally), but it's not exactly going to hurt them :)

Yeah I just happened to be at the IGN GCN and Revolution boards when this news hit, it was mutiny.

With that said, I don't care since HD TV's certainly aren't going to become mainstream here for a long time.

However, it is annoying that Nintendo isn't matching Sony/Microsoft's efforts a least in America where HD TV's are becoming more common.

Rumour has it that NOA fought to include HD compatability but were over-ruled by NCL.

No HDTV support's not going to affect many people here either. It'll probably be the console after Revolution (if not later) that they'll need to start worrying about HDTV (at least here)

It's not going to affect me, but Nintendo's sure been striking out lately, huh? The number of people who own an HDTV has been steadily increasing, and it's ridiculous that Nintendo's going to ignore those numbers...

...

I'm getting an HDTV this weekend. Damn.

This is a brilliant move by Nintendo though. By the time HDTV becomes the primary television device and normal TVs are no longer produced, we will be in the next generation of gaming. The next Nintendo console WILL support HDTV. To play Revolution games on them you will have to buy the new console for its backwards compatibility.

Evil.
