I kick some serious butt with Peach and Marth, but my brother seriously kicks my butt with Sheik.. (not Zelda, Sheik)

Wily

Daisy alias Peach in yellow dress smash them all.
Gotta smash them all Daisy!!!!

I like to alternate frequently. I'm good with characters like Marth, Roy, Falco, etc but I do my best work with Fox.

Zippop
14th July 2005, 02:14 AM
I'm good with almost everyone(excluding Yoshi) but I'm best with Peach, Marth, Ice Climbers, and Dr. Mario. I'm absolutely best with Marth.

Grey Jinjo
14th July 2005, 02:15 AM
Ever play Break The Target competitively? Heh...

Zippop
14th July 2005, 02:21 AM
I don't play 1-P at all.

Banjzooie
14th July 2005, 02:23 AM
I'm best with Kirby.

Zippop
14th July 2005, 02:24 AM
I noticed that at the beginning of the RWPF RPG, you were getting your butt handed to you by a shake while you were playing as who you say is your best :D

14th July 2005, 02:25 AM
I'm best with Ness. He's my favourite charcter! I love using PK Flash on a group of friends lol..My other good character is Jigglypuff. Just float around the arena and no-one can touch you! Or use her Sing attack and have your teammate attack whoever is asleep. And Ness can use energy attacks to heal himself with Psi Sheild..

R Hunter
14th July 2005, 02:29 AM
Hmm...
1.Kirby
2.Ness
3.Roy
3.Link
4 Dr.Mario
5.Falco

And that's my top five list. Link and Roy I use equally so they're both at three. Grey has the right idea though, I use every character daily to improve though I still have yet to master Gannondorf. (The guy's much too slow for my tastes..)

Gaming Master2k
14th July 2005, 03:46 AM
I use Pikachu.... Only Pikachu. I've gotten pretty good with him.

Hakey Wake
14th July 2005, 04:48 AM
I use everybody, i'm not bad with anybody.

However i'm best with: Dr.Mario, Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, Samus, Fox, Falco, Marth, Roy.

Sheik get's on my nerves though, so unbalanced.

Edit: Unbalanced as in, is too fast for all the other characters.

OmegaPirate
14th July 2005, 05:00 AM
I use Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, Old & Young Link, DK & Samus.

Grey Jinjo

... Action Replay Man, are you? :p

HyperactiveBug
14th July 2005, 01:52 PM
I'm proud to say that I've tried becoming fluent with all the characters. I'm decent with them all, but Marth is my favorite, with fox, falco, ness, link(both)... I probably use them the most. It is such a good game. I love how the graphics are so smooth. It's perfect for what they set out to do.

Hakey Wake
14th July 2005, 02:01 PM
You can access Giga Bowser with an Action Replay?

Yeah, go to www.detstar.com to learn about it. You can also play as Crazy Hand!

Hakey Wake

I couldn't find the code there, just a debug menu?

Mumbo Dumbo
14th July 2005, 04:40 PM
I'm best with Marth and Roy, although i ocasionally use Fox.

14th July 2005, 11:22 PM
I actually like Sonic the best.

OmegaPirate
15th July 2005, 01:08 AM
... Action Replay Man, are you? :p Yes, though a 'Debug mode' man more-so though... love 'em and the things you can do in some of 'em!
I like getting some of the powers that the developers had use of.
They're menus that were never intended for us end users. So it's really sweet using them! So much extra good stuff that you can play with.

Pikachu025
15th July 2005, 12:31 PM
I use Jigglypuff most, sometimes blue Young Link.

The debug-menu is cool, yeah. I like the many levels. Sadly my game freezes everytime I use sandbag. <.<

WolvyDaPope
15th July 2005, 01:08 PM
I mainly use golden Roy and Link, but I can usually beat my friends with most characters.

The EU AR codes don't appear to exist on codejunkies anymore, well, at least the link on Gamefaqs doesn't go anywhere.

"Chocolate" Mario and Ness. Debug mode is fun, with the Stacking Mushrooms when in development mode.

Ultima Manic
15th July 2005, 04:59 PM
I play best with Mewtwo, Mario, Samus, Fox and Ganondorf.

Hakey Wake
15th July 2005, 05:26 PM
Ahhhh, the sandbag crashes the game, as does the wireframe (When you win).

Dark Link seems to be on the level though.

Pikachu025
15th July 2005, 05:28 PM
The wireframes don't crash when you use this code:
AN79-6YJW-B6AEG
DU83-MAV6-PDNCR
ZY25-E5A1-MHVPU
P1 - P4 icons are Mario
When using some of the "extra" characters available in the Debug Menu, it is possible that your game will freeze as these "extra" characters don't have winning screens. This code sets the icon/winning screen to Mario for all 4 characters and prevents this freezing from occuring.

Hakey Wake
15th July 2005, 07:30 PM
Yeah I figured it was because they didn't have any victory sequences programmed in, but Dark Link just automatically uses Link's and makes Link noises. (I'm sure the Dark Link in the Even Match was silent though).

DevilBottles
15th July 2005, 08:13 PM
well, after using her to defeat the last two event matches (on accident, it was more of a joke, but i turned out good) my best character is ... Princess Peach!
she has a hidden power. for those who dont like and/or use her, you obviously dont know how to use her ;)

Gruntling
15th July 2005, 08:58 PM
I agree with DevilBottles. The character I use most in SSBM is Princess Peach. She might not be a hard hitter, but there's something about her, maybe her agility that makes her my personal favorite. Sometimes I switch to Kirby and Luigi, but I mainly stick with Peach.

golden jiggy
15th July 2005, 09:01 PM
Zelda normally, although occasionally Kirby. There's something amusing about beating up Ganondorf with Kirby, especially when my brother's using Ganondorf.

R Hunter
15th July 2005, 10:41 PM
Kirby rocks. Anyone that says he doesn't will meet thine doom in the upcoming Smash Bros. ;)

Zippop
16th July 2005, 12:02 AM
I have recently developed an awesomnity with Fox. Yes, I know that 'awesomnity' isn't a word, but it's the only thing that I could think of to descride it.

Andre
16th July 2005, 12:11 AM
I use Captain Falcon, Fox, and a lil' puffy thing named Kirby. :)

R Hunter
16th July 2005, 02:18 AM
Is it just me or has anyone else developed a team to use in a battle? I.E you take one and a friend takes another. My best result is Mewtwo and Gannondorf. (I'm Mewtwo) He gets close to a victim and sets up a Warlock Punch as I use Disable. It's cheap I know but it gets the job done, after all it's kinda hard to dodge a W.Punch when you can't move. ;)

Zippop
16th July 2005, 02:32 AM
I'm told that Ness and Samus make an awesome team. However, as I stink with them both, I haven't tried it.

MewChan
16th July 2005, 01:59 PM
Mewtwo, Marth, Pichu, Fox. Olny caricters I play as. lol

Grey Jinjo
16th July 2005, 04:18 PM
Yeah me and my friend have a team. I'm Fox he's Roy. Our strat is pretty simple, we just run up and assault everybody :p. We're not very good at versus though, I'm just good at BtT.

Zippop
17th July 2005, 03:31 AM
Oh noes! My brother now is god with Sheik! Seriously, I play as my best character and he hands my butt to me every time!

Zeek
17th July 2005, 12:06 PM
If my friend is Falco, you have no chance to survive [make your time!]. He's trying to be good with Samus, and keeps doing that trick to make her Grapple Beam longer. Which gets annoying. I'm his "training" buddy, he says.... (He must fear the powers of Chocolate Mario!)

Hakey Wake
17th July 2005, 01:29 PM
Ahhh, I wish I could do the grapple beam trick (D-pad + z isn't it?) but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it was removed from the PAL version.

MewChan
20th July 2005, 06:59 PM
My friend uses Kirby or Roy, I use Fox or Mewtwo. We pwnd all levels. *Still needs Mr.Game&watch*

Grey Jinjo
20th July 2005, 10:08 PM
I'm curious as to if I can still get the "Classic Mode 1 Life Very Hard" medal. I'm going to go try. I doubt it.

Anyone else get the "1 Life, Very Hard" messages?

MewChan
20th July 2005, 10:17 PM
Nah, I allways play on 'very easy' mode. I feel like a child. *Cries*

Hakey Wake
20th July 2005, 10:25 PM
I don't tend to play on Very Hard because the computer is cheap and seems to have a lower damage ratio. (Unless I imagined it)

I don't think i've ever had a 1 life message, the only part of Classic mode I have trouble with on 1 life is when you face a team of somebody, damn.

Yes, I have it. My friend is a god in this game, but he doesn't have it himself so he always plays it here. I even have the Diskun-Trophy! Heck, he cleared event 51 with ice climbers WITHOUT LOSING A LIFE!

MewChan
20th July 2005, 10:29 PM
Dang... My friends neibhor is god at this game too. It makes me feall bad that he got all the caricters in about a week, i've had the game for 2 months and don't even have Luigi yet.

Pikachu025

I had everyone unlocked two days after the game came out here.

Ouch. <.<
I had everyone unlocked two days after the game came out here.

:X likewise. Then again I remember sitting there for a couple hours and running off of Luigi's stage to unlock Mewtwo... :-P.

I beat Event 51 with every character without losing a life before =P. Then again that was in my prime... I don't know if I could even beat that stage now =(.

Your friend wouldn't happen to be nicknamed Corner or Malva or M64M or Tinister or something would it?

Hakey Wake
20th July 2005, 11:06 PM
I've beaten '51 with Mario, Dr.Mario, Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, Fox, Falco and of course Jigglypuff. XD I don't think i've tried it with anybody else.

I'm not to good at target test or home run contest (My best with Ganondorf is around 1500 meters which is little over 4000 feet I think).

However, when it comes to VS matches well, there's nobody around here that is better than me....and that's a shame. :(

Pikachu025
20th July 2005, 11:17 PM
Your friend wouldn't happen to be nicknamed Corner or Malva or M64M or Tinister or something would it?I don't think so. He only got internet access about 3 month ago, if that helps. Also, he isn't very good with english grammar (we live in Austria and speak German here).

My homerun-record is 463,1 meters with ganondorf and 595m with Yoshi. >.<

Hakey Wake
20th July 2005, 11:27 PM
I take it that's using the "drop-bat, down-stomp, l-recovery" method with Ganondorf?

Yeah, I really can't do that well. :D

Pikachu025
20th July 2005, 11:36 PM
Nah, just a few up-smashes and then bat hit.

Hakey Wake
20th July 2005, 11:40 PM
So no reverse Warlock punch? Interesting.

Grey Jinjo
21st July 2005, 12:03 AM
I got 4556 feet with Ganon... I tried for more but it fell off the edge because I have an old version =(.

I was absolutely horrible at HRC. I think my best was 3,000 with Fox which was the record at one time. Everything else pretty much just bites. My only edge is I CAN do the meteor/l cancel combo... just not quick enough. =/.

Hakey Wake
21st July 2005, 12:08 AM
Can you wavedash? :p (Personally, I believe it to be the most pointless technique/glitch that people go crazy over).

The only character I can see it being useful for is Luigi since he slides so far...

Grey Jinjo
21st July 2005, 12:11 AM
I always wavedash.. I see it as one of the most useful little niche tricks you can use to get the edge over experienced players that can do everything but it. To each their own :x.

Hakey Wake
21st July 2005, 12:14 AM
I suppose so, I've never really seen a use for it though. (more often than not it leaves me going off the edge and air-side stepping so I can't jump back on >.<)

Grey Jinjo
21st July 2005, 12:21 AM
If someone goes to smash attack you, you can wave dash which will put you behind them quicker than running and also give you that brief stint of immortallity. Then you can tap-A them almost immediately.

Most of the time I wavedash backwards... as in I'll be running towards someone, and they'll go to attack, so I jump and do it away from the enemy. This secures you from being hit, but also leaves you less vulnerable than you would be in an aerial situation.

RareBK
21st July 2005, 02:02 AM
1. Mewtwo ( Yes seriously)
2. Mario
3. Luigi
4.Peach
5.Roy

Zippop

No, because you have to stop to pull up your shield and rol. You can do a wavedash without delay.

This'll probably sound scary, but, my friend has gotten "Uber" powerful with JigglyPuff!

Gladly, heh, there's only around 3 people I know here that are remotely good at 'Smash so there's really not a lot of competition.

I am good at the game, along with my friend. He can kill me as Peach and Jigglypuff, but I can kill him good when he's Roy, Falco/Fox, Zelda, and Gannon. You all shall feel the power of Chocolate Mario!

Wouldn't it be easier to just...roll?

Rolling leaves you open sometimes, as you can't roll and just move instantly. If your roll is anticipated, the enemy can delay their attack and then running-A you as you come off your roll. Wavedashing doesn't leave you open and immobile.

Hakey Wake
23rd July 2005, 04:39 AM
Wavedashing never tends to move my character very far though and it just doesn't seem worth the hastle. :(

Yeah, my brother never puts up his shield unless I have reminded him of it's existance by messing up a roll.

When I say my best character is Bowser, people usually either laugh or go "wtf?!"

But in all seriosuness, the speed doesn't actually slow me down. When I first got the game, I pretty much only played as Bowser, so now my reaction time is proper for a Bowser-pro, which is why I attack too soon as Pichu and other fast characters. I can also kick butt with DK.

Usually me and my friends just go random, though. They usually let me try again if I get Ness. Can't play crap with him.

HyperactiveBug
31st July 2005, 09:49 PM
Mmmmm... video games are good at creating reaction times. In my science class, we did little experimets, and my audio reaction time was consistenly over 2 times faster than anyone elses.

R Hunter
31st July 2005, 10:57 PM
Indeed. My hand-eye reaction time is very speedy thanks to playing Tetris at high speeds. :)

Fiver
2nd August 2005, 02:08 AM
I meant Bowser has a slower reaction speed, so I have to compensate. It's probably in miliseconds, but it's there. He's not good against, say, Sheik if you want to get the first punch in, but there are ways around it.
