View Full Version : What do you think Twilight Princess should have?

I am hoping it sort of explains where Valoo came from (since TP is inbetween OoT and WW). I also hope it has more than a Zora spirit. Also, explain where the Ritu tribe came from (I heard they evolved from the Zoras, but that is a little wierd). Well, that's what I think, but Miyamoto's got it covered. TP will be a good game, but do you think it will stand up to beating OoT as the best?

At least we know it won't have some horrible fetch quest tacked on at the end like Wind Waker had.

Aonuma actually apologised for that, and he is forgiven.

I hope they have Gorons...
It will, as I've seen screenshots, but they're not going to be the same-old friendly Gorons. They'e going back to the way they were in the old days. I would suppose that the Zora's might too, but I hope not.

Anyway, I think that Twilight Princess should have dungeons, minigames, traditional Zelda characters, swords, shields, and stuff... You know, everything a Zelda game should have.

This could very well be the GameCube's high point, so Nintendo better not screw this one up. I doubt they will. I have faith in them when it comes to Zelda. It's my favorite series, and they haven't really gone wrong yet. I just hope the wolf transformation thing turns out ok.

I already have my copy reserved. In fact, I reserved it many many many months ago, way before E3. :p

Don't worry it definately WILL have these things that is a given.
I've seen them all already.

I'm just hoping that it takes ages to beat the game and that they use some new ideas for dungeons, the game will be too easy otherwise.
the dungeons are 80% of a zelda game so i hope they've got some good ideas up they're sleaves.

It should also come with a bonus disc with every other Zelda game ever made. (i never got the collectors ed. from Nintendo with the 4 games, just the one with Oot and MQ)

That would be a stupid move. The Minish Cap is still strong, and people are still buying it, and the Classic NES Series is strong too, and people are buying that. Plus, every other Zelda wouldn't even fit on one disk. :p

Heck, I don't even care if this one comes with a bonus or not. I just want to play the game.

I would only want the CD-I Zelda's on a bonus disk anyway.

Of course, i'd also want to throw my gamecube at another gamecube after playing then.

I heard that TP was supposed to be between OoT and MM is this true?

I can't wait for this game to come out. I'm looking forward to seeing some more graphics and seeing what they Gamecube is fully capable of, as I believe this game should push it to it's limits.

I heard that TP was suppose to be after all the other games so far... but I'm not a Zelda fan, so I didn't exactly TRACK DOWN the source.

Personally this is what I'd like...
- The ability to jump
- Aerial attacks and a more Soul-Calibur type attack system
- Dungeons that aren't sucky and bland and repetitive (Not all are... but there are a lot)
- The ability to jump
- No more switching between kid and adult. If they want to have alternate realities do it like in LttP
- Limit the amount of HUGE OPEN AREAS.

It was going to be since it was originally the sequel to Wind Waker, now it's not.

I think the atmosphere will be heavily Wind Waker influenced (e.g., the forest dungeon level looks quite similar to the one in WW). Gorons will definately be back, so it's a possibility so will the Zoras. After all, isn't this game supposed to feel more like OoT?

That would be some bonus disc indeed -- 3 pieces of crap and one, possibly two, broken GameCube(s) to go along with it.

R Hunter's right, it takes place between OoT and WW. A game in between OoT and MM just wouldn't really be logical.

From what's known GM, TP is between OoT and WW. So this Link is an ancestor to the WW one.

Meaning that this Link is probably a descendant of OoT Link. I believe that this Hyrule is the same Hyrule from OoT and not the... er... opps. How do you use spoiler tags, again? Hehe.

...but I'm not a Zelda fan...
Cure you! *spanks*

-Jumping is probably not going to happen, unless another Roc item is in this game, which I believe it may me, if I recall this one interview correctly. Or maybe that was a rumor article. Oh well, doesn't matter.
-Well, one aerial has been confirmed.
-Miyamoto has promised to make the dungeons in TP better than in WW. There will also be more than OoT. That would mean there would be over 10 dungeons! Egad!
-Ack. Does it really matter?
-TP is strictly adult Link. Also, the alternate realities system in TP is kind of similar to LttP, but not exactly identical. I'll explain in detail if someone asks. ;)
-Luck you... TP has huge maps, which is why they added horseback from the start of the game. I hear that Hyrule Field is MILES long. ;)
- Bugger.

That is so lame! Don't they know there are Goron fans out there?
I like Gorons, too, my ex-girlfriend was actually one (if ye know what I mean, har har). It's not lame. I'm actually anxious to learn more about it.

The Gorons will be back, but what about the Zoras? Since it has been confirmed it is between OoT and WW, will it shoew the transition of the transformation betweeen Zoras and Ritus (They are related, as Medli is a descendant of Laruto). That would be wierd. Especially since Gorons lived in what is now Dragon Roost Island (meaning the Gorons went extinct and the Ritu-Zoras took it over). Valoo is awesome, so I hope he returns (already said, but I do). Jumpin would be nice, but who knows. Have any of you seen the un-necessary down thrust move in the demo. One of the trailors on IGN shows a G4TV person playing a demo, and she performed this brutal down thrust move into the creature after Link sent it flying to wallow on the ground. How did monkeys take over the Forest Temple? I would have thought Dekus or Moblins, not...monkeys. O well. Yeah, the Fetch Quest at the end of WW was annoying. I just hope TP isn't a total Zelda clone like WW (first, you collect three elemental pearls and put them in pedastals, wait, didn't I do that in Oot? and collecting eight shards of the Triforce of Courage, like in the original Zelda?) Hmmm....
At least they will have cool, original items (Gale Boomerang and Bomb Arrows, or so I have heard...). Should the Grappling Hook return? It was cool as it had more controll, but it almost smothered the Hookshot to non-existence of being useless outside of that one temple.
On a side note, what was everyone's opinion of MM? I thought it was better than OoT with a unique concept and a story that didn't drag, but everyone praises OoT like a god. I actually had one of these people play MM, and they thought it was better. So, which is better, and what should TP have?

I liked MM. The only gripes I had were weak at best.
1. The Razor Sword looked much cooler (IMO) then the Gilded Sword so I felt they should have let you keep it instead of it breaking after x amount of hits.

2. The Fierce Deity's mask just pwned. But only having it useable in just Boss rooms kinda sucked. Now limiting to a temple would have been cooler.

3. The Stone Tower Temple was annoying. Fun but annoying, what with all the running around you had to do.

And that's it. Like I said weak gripes.

2)I really felt the Fierce Deity broke the game in half. I mean it basically was an auto-win function. (I do agree it still would have been cool though. ;) )

3)Stone Tower Temple >>> Water Palace. That right there has to count for something.

And yeah...overall MM wasn't bad, but it seemed slightly unpolished to a point and wasn't too great overall IMO.

Everything I've seen concerning the game seems to be just fine - provided the huge amount of dungeons are all solidly designed and fun, it should be excellent. However, they really, really need to remove that rubbish "YEE-HAW!" text from the herding mini-game. I mean, good Lord.

Wait, the Gorons weren't extinct in Wind Waker because the Merchants are Gorons.

Indeed, you are correct, but the Goron population did suffer serverely though, because we all know that Gorons cann swim.

No, WolvyDaPope, this game probably won't show the transformation. And here's why:

AFTER Hyrule was flooded by the goddesses the Zoras had to adapt to the great quanities of water. Surely, swimming so much would tire a Zora out, and flying was the better means of it, so Valoo came to grant the Zoras with wings, and over time they became the Rito we know today. The reason you won't see the change is becuse they changed AFTER Hyrule was flooded, and clearly this game doesn't take place in flooded Hyrule.

WolvyDaPope

Good point Jason, as I didn't think of that. But, the WW itself may actually be in the game, because Fado said the king used it to conduct the sages long ago. True, the period of time between OoTand WW is only 200 years, it is not crazy to think the WW was created inbetween. Also, why did Valoo expect Link to be the Hero of Time? He knew the original Hero of Time left Hyrule with the key to the Sacred Realm (wait, how did Ganon get the Triforce piece if Link left Hyrule before opening the Sacred Realm?), so he couldn't be a Hero of Time. What happened to the Geruru? Gorons are Merchants, Hylians are on Islands, and Zoras are Ritus, so is Beetle a Geruru, as both have the darkened skin-like tan?

EDIT:Should Link get a new instrument? Or will he get another Ocarina or the WW (not an instrument, but it still conducts a choir)? He won't get a flute, guitar, horn,or drumset, but a new instrument would be neat. Do you think he will be the next Hero of Time (although the ocarina of time is in Termina), thus giving him the OoT, the first Wind Waker, giving him the WW, or become another hero...

Side note, do you think Termina was flooded? Going back to Termina in a true WW sequel could be awesome if the sail time was cut. I think the MM concept was brilliant, but a WW sequel in Termina would mean Kid Link would have to be both the Hero of Winds and the new Hero of Time.

Jason
23rd July 2005, 02:12 AM
Actually the time period between OoT and TWW was only 100 years, so it is very possible that the Wind Waker will make an apperance in this game.

As for a new instrument, I don't know of any right now, but Link can use grass to summon various actions. The grass is probably the new instrument in this game.

As for a Termina WW, no. MM didn't sell very well in the first place, and there is a great deal of people who hated that game... I didn't hate it, but I disliked it. In my opinion is wasn't even a true Zelda game, whereas OoT actually was.

WolvyDaPope
23rd July 2005, 02:04 PM
I thought it was a true Zelda game, and I liked it because it finally had an original plot and finally conmtinued the story of one of the Links (aren't most of the Links from every gmae different, but OoT and MM are same). Without MM, there would be no WW. That grass is interesting, and howlign in wolf form may also play a more significant role. I had heard the time frame was 200 years, but I guess it was 100.

Jason, you knowledge of Zelda is far superior than mine (I am the Zelda freak of my friends), and I ahve to give congrats. I am not being sarcastic, kudos to you Jason, really.
Anyways, Where has Valoo been hiding the past Zelda games. He couldn't be Volvagia from OoT (although I think Dragon Roost Island is Death Mountain), so could he be an evolved Biggoron (no). Speaking of Biggorons, were they too big to include in OoT, or were they just cut. I'll miss them.

Why does everyone praise OoT like a it's the TriForce itself? I personallt thought the plot dragged after the first 7 dungeons (although it is a N64, they could have tried to have the plot develop more than just knowing Ganondorf is there by seeing him as a random boss. Hyrule field itself wasn't all dark, it was pretty normal. OoT basically told you to do stuff, like it was almost expected, but WW just started as a quest to save your sister that evolves into defeating Ganondorf to save the Great Sea. OoT is you try to save the Great Deku Tree, he dies, tells you to meet the Princess, she tells you to find the the crystal things, then you cause Ganondorf to enter the Sacred Realm, and then you're on a fetch quest for some stupid pendents. At least the WW fetch quest didn't have a whole dungeon for each TriForce shard. I don't knwo, that's just my opinion.

What would happen in WW2? I mean, Hyrule has been buried, Ganondorf is officially dead (no sealing away crap, he is the pedestal of his own enemy), I don't remember where the Master Sword went (can't really explain a there are no spoilers in Quick Reply), so that means every Zelda game after WW has to be orignal and not the average save-Zelda-and-kill-Ganon game. ALthough Miyamoto/Aunoma never really make sequels, any game beyond WW would have to be like this, original. Sad, because MM was never popular (only game I really play on Collector's Disc), and I think it was Link to the Past that had the same Zelda storyline, only in a Light and Dark world.

Whew that was long. As a last word, Jason, don't you think MM had the most interesting plot of all Zelda games? The concept was pretty neat, forcing you to race through dungeons that can be undone (unlike OoT, mess up, o well, you were only on the Water Temple). It was sad that your work wasn't permanent, but it made sense that it wasn't. Kinda sad, no more Heroes of Time. Now only Hero of Winds and possibly a Hero of Realms (TP)?

Hakey Wake
23rd July 2005, 03:16 PM
WW didn't have enough dungeons and was far too easy I think, I mean they took 2 other dungeons out of the game because it would've been too long otherwise. (Yeah..sure).

That's the reason why Jabun just gives you the blue pearl as opposed to you having to work for it. (IMO)

R Hunter
23rd July 2005, 04:28 PM
To answer you, the Master Sword is embedded in Gannondorf's head. Keeping him locked in stone for the end of time...or until the next Zelda game anyways. Although now there's room for a new villain, after all the bond shared by Gannon, Zelda and Link is broken thanks to a wish having been made on the triforce.

WolvyDaPope
23rd July 2005, 07:24 PM

Hakey Wake
23rd July 2005, 08:01 PM
Why would you need to?

WW happens after TP.

WolvyDaPope
23rd July 2005, 11:45 PM
Yes, but there are only 100 years imbetween OoT and WW. Once TP is over, there will be 99 years left, but things will stay settled for a while. What I am trying to say is that any Zelda game in this period of time (let's call it the Age of Ganon's Return) after TP will be redundant i the plot is a save Zelda/beat Ganon tale. There is at least one more game in the AoGR after TP that will chronicle a Link trying to save the world from Ganon's return as Hyrule runs into chaos ( just before Great Sea appears). If Miyamoto wants to, of course.

I'm just saying I think the save Zelda/beat Ganon concept is beginning to wear thin, and I think Aunoma is trying to prolong Ganon by making Zelda less innocent (Tetra) and by making it necessary as that you want revenge. OoT sort of forced you to, while WW Link was driven to by revenge to save his sister (and then getting forced to, but he sort of built into it). The TP concept will be very interesting (trying to stop the Twilight Realm from destroying Hyrule and the Midna/wolf thing). Zelda is seen, but I don't think you are out to save her. Who knows. Do you think Ganon will return, like by using the Twilight Realm as an exit to the Sacred Realm, or will Ganon reveal himself in another Zelda game in the AoGR (possibly the Revolution one)?

*Since I didn't really answer Hakey Wake's question, you would need to if the Revolution Zelda was after WW. I mean, the Master Sword is the sword of evil's bane (not the Magic Sword of Legend of Zelda Original, that's why Ganon didn't die, he just revived and fled to the Geruru's), and without it, no evil can be defeated (wait, that means TP Link will have to enter the Temple of Time, another Hero of Time with a new Ocarina of Time?). Plus, the Master Sword and the Triforce are the things that make you recognize the Game is Zelda without the title.

Hakey Wake

TP is actually several decades after OoT, but before WW. Check out GameSpot's coverage for some more info...

Everyone knows Richard Simmons is Tingle. And Knuckle is the that guy RS slapped in an airport.

Ganon could do whatever he wants, but there is a gap of time when the Hylians are praying before Ganon actually comes. I sort of hope Ganon doesn't show himself in TP. I know he won't, but you never know.

EDIT: Link has an Ocarina. It was in the demo. I read the Game Spot article. I can't wait for TP. I am so excited. I have already preodered it. I want it now! It is going the best Zelda game, and maybe one of the best games of the year. I need, I neeeeed (puts Red Potion IV on high).

O yeah. I haven't seen the intro video in a while, but I remember bits of it. I think that is it. Wait, that means WW didn't tell the whole story, or TP will involve Ganon. I have heard it will have a duel-world concept like Link to the Past. I agree because if you watch the trailor, you see a lake with a tree in it, and that segment fades to the tree, but Link is standing by it, with no water. I want TP and I want to know who she is!

EDIT: The twilight version of Princess Zelda...perhaps...

The new issue of Nintendo Power just arrived and I immediatley went to their monthly coverage...

The reed whistle so far is the only "instrument" revealed. Kondo says that there will be an actual instrument, but he wants to keep it a surprise. Interesting.

The main story would seem to be save Hyrule from being sucked up by the Twilight, but I think it'll make a big turn somewhere along the way, like it did with The Wind Waker.

I'm not sure who your are talking about two posts above, Wolvy. If you are talking about Minda, the girl who follows Wolf Link while he is in the Twilight (my avatar is her eye, by the way), that is not Twilight Zelda. You see, apparently Zelda uses her black clock to protect herself from the Twilight Realm. And it's obviously working, because people cannot exist in their human form in the Twilight, they become other creates.

I myself believe that Minda is the Twilight Princess, not Zelda, but only time will tell.

Oh, and thank you so much for the kind words about me Zelda knowledge. :)

WolvyDaPope
25th July 2005, 01:02 AM
Yeah, I read how humans can't be in the Twilight realm after I posted that. Interesting with the instrument thing. Either he's trying to bring back an instrument no one would expect (WW), an oldie with new powers (like the Ocarina of Twilight), to create a new one (who knows what the twilight brings), or a new concept (howling, yet not really an instrument, although Aonuma sais either the howling or the moon transformation was just for looks).

I think Ganon steps into the realm and becomes the Twilight Princess (not really). I know Midna was evil, and then changed to help wolf link, but Aonuma said normal Link will communicate with her too, but in a different way. Maybe the horse is Midna!? Not likely, but I do agree in a plot twist like WW. We knows he must stop Hyrule from falling into Twilight, but what about Ganon. He is stirring at this point, so maybe Ganon has a connection with the Twilight.

You're knowledge is worth recognition, Jason. Need TP now!

Jason
25th July 2005, 03:22 PM
Somethings tells me that Ganon doesn't have anything to do with the Twilight. Who knows, though? That's just the way I feel.

As for Minda being the horse? That's not unlikely at all, it's very well possible. If what we see in the screenshots in Minda's true form in the Twilight, then she wouldn't be able to exist in her true form in the non-Twilight. It's not likely nor unlikely.

WolvyDaPope

Unless Midna too has a black clock/cloak, she would change. But I have read she dissapears when wolf link exits the twilight. Hmm. Aonuma did say Ganon would be in the game, but how, is a mystery. Interesting.

Do think TP will be linked to WW heavily (become a hero of winds and get WW, it makes sense since of the Gale Boomerang), or not at all.

The reed whistle so far is the only "instrument" revealed. Kondo says that there will be an actual instrument, but he wants to keep it a surprise. Interesting.

It's going to be a turntable. See, it all falls together nicely: Link finds a twilight turntable, which gives him the power to lay down some phat beats and remix music. Ganon will then show up and they'll have a 3 hour mix battle, all while the minor characters start partying hard. It'll be great. They could even use the music to create a new DDR game.

No, you didn't. You just think you did.

Yeah, that wasn't Ganon, that was some Twilight monster (goblin or something). I've seen every trailor, interview (Miyamoto/Aonuma), and some direct feed from the demos. Besides, they never go into the Twilight because Link nor the friend transformed into animals. That fight is going to be fun, especially with more advanced horse control.

How come every time I see a trailor, it has Z as "Hint". Maybe it's just for the demo, but what happended to the third button to equip items? I mean, to replace a third item with a hint! (unprecedented, I believe, like this-whenever you want-it's like the OoT fairy again, but better targeting) is preposterous. I mean, the Wind Temple was annoying enough to be constantly changing the three items, let alone two. I hope the Z Hitn isn't permanent...

Yeah, I noticed that too.

I don't believe it is permanent. I'm pretty sure it was only for the demo -- it gave the people enough time to complete the temple in their allowed time. They only had around 15 minutes, I believe, and I'm sure some of the puzzles probably could've taken them a bit longer without the Hints.

True, but everyone in my class was talking about WW strategies with each other when it came out. I sort of think TP will either sell moderately well or be a semi-dud like MM. Sure , WW was a new approach, but it still had the same Zelda feeling that wasn't really in MM like TP might be. If people know about TP, then it will sell well. It might actually be more popular, as it is predicted to be rated T, and lot of "gamers" (only play Halo or just one of those people who...) don't like "kiddy, E-rated games" (although a lot of them are excellent). The more mature look might appeal to more people.

True, but it is only July, yet still. Nintendo has some wierd ideas and beliefs, but I'm still buying it. Well, anyone who checked out E3 will know this highly popular title (how I found it). Plus, Zelda fans should know (more hardcore ones, but it is on the Nintendo website). I actually found it when looking at new games at gamestop.com, there was "A New Legend of Zelda game to reserve". I did and researched to find Twilight Princess.

Jason

You can't say "true" because it's not true. Zelda is more alive than it ever has been, you two.

When I went to the store two years ago to pick up TWW the lines stretched all through the mall, and that was for TWW!! I can only imagine what they'll be like in Nov., when TP is released.

I couldn't name one person in my school who doesn't like a Zelda game, and I go to a fairly large and sterostypical (is that a word?) school.

Maybe it's not as popular in Scotland as it is in the United States and Japan, who knows? But it's alive and well.

"I actually found it when looking at new games at gamestop.com, there was 'A New Legend of Zelda game to reserve'. I did and researched to find Twilight Princess."

I can't see any comparison between TWW and TP. Just because TWW was bad doesn't mean that this new game is going to be the same. Nintendo has acknowledged their mistakes, and I trust them with this game. It's not going to fail, and more people are going to buy it.

I really can't explain my reasoning for why the Xbox 360 won't "hammer" the game, but mark my words... it won't mean a thing. If the 360 and TP are in fact released in the same week, if not day, Twilight Princess's sales will be greater than the 360's for that first week, and you can take that to the bank.

Hakey Wake

Heh, TP won't be bad at all, I'm certain it is "THE GAME" to own this year, I'm just saying TWW will have turned many potential buyers away from the series. (Unfortunately, due the cell-shading, most people wouldn't give it a chance)

Unless Nintendo start actually telling people that this new, bigger and better Zelda is actually being made (How manu casual gamers no what E3 is?) then it might catch them off guard.

I don't think the 360 will have a huge impact on TP, it'll just sort of...get in the way a bit. :p

EDIT:Referring to WW bad taste in mouth comment.
I don't think so, since every gamer I knew enjoyed and played WW for a long time. I didn't see the lines, but I bet they were long where I was. WW didn't leave a bad taste to me, as it was highly praised. Even those who hated the graphics would agree that the game would noy have been the same in normal graphics. Plus, the battling system and dungeons were enjoyable, and it was WW that actually started me liking Zelda. I've almost completed it twice...

Also, when I was searching for the Shards, I noticed how the WW map is wierd. Hyrule Castle (Tower of The Gods) is in the center, and Deaht Mountain (Fire Mountain/Dragon Roost Island) is in a proprtionate corner, but it makes no sense as all of Northwest Great Sea is area that is not Hyrule. Plus, there are mountains in areas where they shouldn't be. Did the Gods make the Mountains. or were they incorrectly there? *Making charts to show what I mean.

My points prove there is more to the great sea (for WW2), and they mysteriously moved off of the map by so much. Also, The Wind Temple isn't in Hyrule and the Earth Temple is either Lon Lon Ranch or beginning of Gerudo Valley. Nintendo doesn't take this kind of stuff into account like the game's fans do. They don't notice this kind of stuff, and they suspect that we won't either.

Though it's neat that you was able to notice that, I honestly believe that you have nothing.

It wasn't until recently that Nintendo has been tieing the games together carefully. TP should be the first to actually connect greatly with the past games.

Well, since this game comes before TWW, it will probably end with the King wishing to the goddesses to flood Hyrule, possibly using the Wind Waker to conduct the goddess, as that's what the original purpose of the Wind Waker was, I believe.

What didn't MM have? It kept you on your toes and constantly thjinking. ALso, the main plot was short, but the amount of side quests possible made the game long and enjoyable. You tried to do OoT quickly because the dungeons are dragging on.
*TP will be better because of better camera control (OoT/MM sucked), battling system, and plot that will keep you to the end (we hope). I don't think I will have the patience to complete OoT (I messed the Water Temple, so it's time to start over! Yeah!) as it is redundant and not flowing. The story starts with some kid who had a nightmare and needs a fairy. Wow. MM at least haad you looking for a close frined. WW had you try to save your sister, and eventually getting tangled into saving the Great Sea. TP will probably have a gripping story making you want to do the 10+ dungeons, plus no fetch quest wothout real dungeons to find the charts/shards.

Agreed. OoT is probably one of the few Zelda games I've enjoyed (Link to the Past was probably the only other one) and I would definitely like to see the same elements appear in this game. Only without stupid, Water Temple-esque stuff. (Since I found the Gamecube to be a mediocre system (with some exceptions (aka SSB:M and a few others (Super Mario Sunshine is not on my good list), if Twilight Princess is any good, I'll probably end up d/ling it for the Revolution (assuming that it's available on the download library))

I'd like to see such a poll, actually.

I feel that OoT's storyline was better, actually, because it followed the Zelda legend. It told the origin of Hyrule, Link's history, and more about the world and the people in it. Majora's Mask had a unique story, and I liked it, but OoT was more true to the legend.

No, they do matter. A Link to the Past is part of the Legend, I'm just not sure where it fits in...

The Game Boy games all have their own storyline, which, even though they're not part of the Legend, is still something, and TMC and The Four Swords games actually have a fairly decent story to follow.

But you see, MM was a sub-game in a way. It broke off from OoT. I don't think it has anything to do with the Legend or any other. I believe that game stands alone.

WolvyDaPope
29th July 2005, 08:12 PM
It does, as the Terminians don't even believe or know what the TriForce is. I thought thay was the best part of the game, as it wasn't part of the Legend. All the Legend says is that there was chaos (part of the Shintoiosm [main Japanese religion] creation story, but rest isn't), the Golden goddesses created Hyrule and the TriForce, the four species raged war, Hyrule Kingdom made peace, and a Kokiri (really a Hylain) killed a male Gerudo and his descendants killed Ganon every time he reincarnated/broke the seal. Same old, same old.

I do agree the games are fun, but they can be redundant. For example, although Mario is always saving Princess Peach/defeating Bowser, he does in different ways in different countries. Link always saves the Princess in Hyrule and has to enbed his sword in Ganon's head every game. WW was like the Super Mario Sunshine of LoZ: same plot, different country. MM was completely different. Now that I see it, every Zekda has taken a different view to the plot, although the Legend (to me) hasn't made any real improvement since it ended in WW (OoT was beginning, WW was end, and all of the other games were just Ganon breaking the seal again to add the next Ganon Was Killed Again chapter).

R Hunter
29th July 2005, 09:51 PM
True. But i'm reminded of the old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Even though Link's adventures have followed pretty much the same route through all these years can anyone say that they didn't enjoy kicking Ganon's butt? Granted Nintendo adding Vaati as a main villian in some of the newer games has been a breath of fresh air so to speak but it's been Gannon that's been Link's rival and I think it will always be so. And rightly at that. ;)[/ranting]

I like MM a lot too. The Legend of Zelda was always meant to be a big epical journey, where as MM, was more of a sub plot. I think that is why people look down on it, and the fact you needed an expansion pack (which there was a shortage of, and so a lot of people didn't play it).

The atmosphere in MM is a lot better than that of OT (which I love, before anybody says I don't). I see this because of the 3 day cycle, and the way the sky colour on each portion of the day alters, the fact the ground rumbles as the moon closes closer, and the distorted, hauting music surrounding hexed areas. I also like how the characters have more life to them and say different things and seem to have more character to them.

That's actully incorrect. The timing of each Zelda game is what brought on another. For example, if Majora's Mask was not part of the "Legend" then we would of never had Gannon returning and no Wind Waker. If there was no Link's Awakening, Link's Grandson would of never existed and went back to Hyrule to make the events of Zelda 1. It's confusing at first, but if you think about it, all the Zelda games are part of the Legend.

Ganon would have arisen again despite OoT Link leaving Hyrule or not. Even if Link stayed, he probably wouldn't fight Ganon. He knew what would happen if he left, because he knew the future. He left Hyrule because he didn't want to defeat Ganon. If he stayed, Link would have hidden. So, MM was just one possibility of Ganon arose and WW began.

It better. I can't wait, even if I have to. Need Twilight Princess now.

On a side note, the poll was only to see what we think is the better of the two, not all LoZ games. If you hate both, sorry.

According to the Gamewinners article I read Nintendo's adding some "incredble new features" to TP. We'll see.

It better. I swear, for delaying the game 4-5 monthes, there better some awesome features like Zelda being able to fight or something.

Kingdom Hearts is only average

Argh! You're killing me!!!

Well, Nintendo does tend to over exaggerate... but I'll remain hopeful. The game looks awesome as it is... and I don't think even Nintendo's mad obsession with new innovations could ruin it now!

What would you rather Twighlight Princess be for all eternity? A sh!tty game that met its deadline, or an unbelievably orgasmic game that was thoroughly developed?

You are right, Gold Jinjo. I'm just a little bummed at the delay, but I bet it will be awesome looking and as a whole.

Upon hearing that Zelda, Twilight Princess has been delayed, I am delighted to announce that I am pleased. It gives me more time to save up, and so, I won't be the last person to play it, as a result!

I was just thinking about the fishing minigame. I saw a screenshot of Link in a boat with a fishing pole, so we know there'll be a fishing game. And we know that Wind Waker's sailing system was pretty cool at first, but people got really sick of it after a short while. So rather than using a boat and sail for crossong oceans, why not just sail away from a dock out onto Lake Hylia, or into the ocean surrounding Hyrule. Let the wind carry you around a little, and this way instead standing at the edge of a pond, you can actually fish at the centre of a sunny lake. I just thought it would be a cool little addition.

That would be really neat, as the sailing mechanic itself was well designed. Lake Hylia is rather large (bigger than LonLon ranch and Hyrule Castle), so sailing would be comfortable and not a drag. Who knows.

We probably never will. Video game companies are dicks and never pay attention to what the fans want to see

Untrue. Nintendo has recently listened to thier fans. The OOT:MQ and Collecters Editions are proof of that. Now will they hear THIS. No I doubt it. But we can dream nonetheless.

Hmm, alright, I guess it wasn't right to say they disregard us all the time, but nonetheless..... they should look to their more often than that!

But where would they be if they couldn't make up their own minds and come up wth their own ideas..... I guess it works both ways.

I think Nintendo is listening more, definitely, but more would be better. I mean, why haven't they brought back Raccoon Mario or Zoras? Why hasn't Banjo returned to non-GBA console (I know that when Rare was bought, there was some disagreement on the rights or something, but it would sell very well with the still existing fanbase). Why isn't the Revolution a head device that drills into skull to inout gaming straight into your thoughts (just kidding, I know it is impossible and completely sarcastic, so please don't comment about this).

No real new TP news. Ganondorf/Ganon is confirmed in the game. Zelda has a sword. That's really it. Grr!

Zelda has a sword.

WHAT?! The sword swooshing is for Link -- the bow is for Zelda. Stupid Nintendo.

I'm just happy Zelda actually helps out a little. In TP she'll be a stone cold killer! (Yea right)

I bet Midna's Zelda.

I don't think so, as Zelda protected herself from the Twilight with the black cloak or something. Besides, she'd be an animal, not a creepy naked alien thing.
I don't know how to do spoiler tags (where you have to highlight box to see text), so I'll be as undetailed as possible: Zelda technically had a sword in Wind Waker (before she was "awoken"). Hint, hint, but she never could directly use it.

Spoiler tags are as follows.

I spaced them so to show you what to type. If I hadn't I'd have placed a tag there. :p Enjoy being secretive.

Thanks. What I meant was

Zelda is Tatra the Pirate, who carries a sword, but it is just a small cutlass. Zelda's new sword is a long Rapier

Oh yeah. I no EVERYTHING ABOUT ZELDA! EVERYTHING!

So...

In OoT, it ends with Link going to a different dimension (as a child) and living a peaceful life. This dimension is the one that Zelda carries out in for the rest of the series. The chronology is : Starts wit OoT, ends wit AoL. It will ALWAYS end wit AoL, but there can always be a new prequel. At teh beginning of WW, Link obtains the Wind Waker, and eventuallly becomes the hero of wind.

So...based on this... TP will probably begin the same way as WW, as shown in the preview, because link doesn't have the tunic. He is just a simple farm boy. He then has to save his friend/brother from being kidnapped. He later saves all of Hyrule (Proabably)

Yeah...so...link is PROABLY the hero of the animals because he can use animals a lot. Duh.

There's my 2 yen.

WolvyDaPope

Well, you also have to consider...

that Link in WW was not the first Hero of Winds, but they will probably just make him a Hero of Animals. They did show that a boat could be controlled, and with items like the Gale Boomerang, Linhk in TP could very well be the first Hero of Winds, or even the second Hero of Time.
