I recently made a rom hack of Banjo Kazooie where you start out the game where the nintendo cube starts. I want to share it, but I cant post a rom. What do I do?

Wait for a mod to either lock this thread or tell you if you can or not. Sorry I can't help, I don't think ROM giving/asking is allowed on the site, but I would be interested in seeing what you've done.

If it's done through a GameShark code, then just give the code instead. If not, see if you can make a patch out of it, maybe a save file instead.

Create an .ips or .ppf patch.

Like Smouvy and Tee-Hee said, make a patch file. IPS XP (http://home.arcor.de/minako.aino/ipsXP/) works well for that.

An IPS patch may not work if the file is too big. If this is the case (which it probably is being that this is an N64 game), use a PPF patch.

The IPS patch worked fine for my Fungus Forest music in BK patch.

Either make a patch, or make a poll so you know who to PM a link to.

Couldn't you make a patch for a blank ROM?

Probably. A patch compares the code of two files and adds files from the patch. And since a blank rom would have no code, it would transfer all data.

A patch contains work that YOU did, not Rare. Since you're just sending the work you did across the web, it's perfectly legal.

I hate it when people ask me how to patch a rom too. It's so damn annoying. So here are my VERY specific instructions (Taken from ReadmeNOW.txt) on how to patch this.

Creating a patch.
A. Download this: http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/lips100.zip
B. Download a clean Banjo-Kazooie (U) ROM. I do not give links to ROMs, just do a google search and in about 5 minutes you'll find it.
C. Open up Lunar IPS, and click on the option "Create IPS Patch"
D. Select the ORIGINAL UNMODIFIED ROM (Which would be, the clean Banjo Kazooie (U) ROM.
E. Then, select the ROM that you modified.
F. Name your IPS, and save it in the folder.
G. You have created your IPS file. Bravo, you're a freaking genius.

Applying a patch:
A. Download this: http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/lips100.zip
B. Download a clean Banjo-Kazooie (U) ROM. I do not give links to ROMs, just do a google search and in about 5 minutes you'll find it.
C. Download a Nintendo 64 Emulator, again, USE GOOGLE.COM
C. Use Lunar IPS.exe, click "Apply IPS Patch"
D. Select the patch, which is - (What ever your name is).ips
E. After it will ask you to select a ROM. Find the Clean Banjo-Kazooie (U) ROM.
F. Use the emulator to open the ROM. If it has the changes applied, congratulations - your IQ is at LEAST above 25 points.

Pretty cool. Walk into the clouds and it looks like you end up in MMM (i didn't look around much), and falling off opens the part of the opening where grunty says "We'll see about that!"

There have to be a few more things like this you can do. This is awesome.

Nice It seems that you made something there.
Make something big now instead.

It's nothing big. All he did was replace the intro scene number's (1F) "Object Data" (Which also controls cutscenes) with something else. I took a loot for myself, so it's nothing.

I know what he did, I just hope he'll make something big.
After all this was the first Banjo hack i ever played, do you nknow where I can find some other patches?

Im working on doing stuff with mumbos mountain, it wont be "Super Big" but it will be pretty cool when Im done. The thing Im working on is trying to format the 2d images so I can view and edit them.

Yo, I've pretty much already parsed/figured out the format of the 2d bottles image. Which I'm guessing goes for all sprites in the ROM.

See the attachment below. If you could write a program to view and edit these files that would be great. I could never really get around to it because CBM and I are working on a Dk64 ROM Map.

I'll need credit for parsing most of the file of course.

Thanks This might help me understand the format a little better.
