It sucked

Ahh.... ever since 4 PM yesterday power has been down in michigan(where I live), wisconsin, new york and a lot of canada. IT SUCKED! Power Just came back on (2 PM EST). Thats no AC for a day! Not to mention everything has melted. We had 1 more hour till we would have had to thrown everything away. Then there's our neighbor who bought a freekin cheap ass generator. Its so freekin loud (stil doesnt realize power is back on :P). Anyway.... anyone else live in an area where power went out? (50 MILLION people total didnt have power..... holy crap!)

Somehow, I was spared, was low enough in NJ. Would've been extremely annoying not having power.

Luckily I don't live anywhere near where the outage was. Although, where I live, power outages do happen frequently (our power company sucks) and I've coped with it by hooking up my computer, TV and Nintendo up to an inverter... so if the power goes out, I at least have something to do :D

Well thing is.... we dont have water because of it... not drinkable or.... toilet usable. And we used the last bit today for a shower for each of us. So basically from now on if we have to go to the bathroom, we have to go to this rest center... in a port-a-john... nasty business. Supposed to get everything by monday.

I got the same deal as SubDrag. I lived in another part of NJ that was spared from the power outage, I only had a few power problems for a couple minutes.

I feel rather sorry for all those that had to put up with it, though. Does anybody know the source of the problem?

I can't live 1 minute without power so i can't imagine what I would have been like if I had been there.

Well you could always go behind a tree. Fortunatley I live in Australia so all that happened to me was 5 minutes of news talk about it. When i saw the news broadcast i remember thinking about all the poor people who couldn't get to the RWP.

All I have to worry about is you guys beating me up when I start laughing about it.

Supposedly lightning hit one of the powerplants. And since all the power plants are connected in that area it was a chain reaction. Power plant connections are divided into "grids." Which explains why the whole nation, or the entire world in that case didn't balckout.

No it wasnt lightning.. theyve said that only 16286428620739578373802872974 times. Source is still unknown. Anyway I have everything back (including water). Now only problem is I cant drink water. While the pressure was down (less than 5%) the water developed bacteria.

Actually we believe the problem was a glitch in the power system that wasn't discovered until it was too late.

That sucks! I'm lucky it didn't happen where I live otherwise my whole family would have gone insane. It is sad really... even 5 minutes of the power being out and everyone in my house is acting like it is the end of the world. :rolleyes:

Seriously though I feel sorry for those hwo had there power go out. No AC in the summer/fall time sucks...

it's like that with me except it's when the net is down. I go crazy, everything goes all dark and I think the end is coming
