Nintendo Co. Ltd. said on Thursday its new puppy training game "Nintendogs" sold 250,000 units in its first week, making it the hottest-selling title in the United States.
Jesus, who would have ever thought that this would happen.

I had told myself I wasn't going to, but now i'm seriously considering buying it. O_o; It's a dark day when I actually consider buying a puppy sim.

It's quite a fun game, but it's not like the almighty omega game of games. I can't believe it selling just so well! 250,000 copies in a week? That's nearly half of all of Resident Evil 4's total sales!

I don't think that game looks good at all. If I ever do get it, it'll be a present for my Birthday or something.

Indeed ;)
As much as I don't like dogs, this game is doing excellent, and I've very proud of the Nintendo DS right now. Everyone seems to be warming up to it, and giving it a chance. Especially since there are no games for the PSP
Come this holiday, I'm expecting sales to rise underwear-soilingly high.

I am hopefully getting this game for my birthday or christmas; I'm a dog lover. I'm not surprised that it sells so well, I mean, what dog lover can resist a game like that?

I agree. These Sony fanboys at my school said the PSP would kill the DS within a month, and look at where it is now!

One of the main things driving me to get a DS is the fact that a remake of FF3 is being made for it sometime in the future...but this game looks pretty neat. :D I like how there are different versions with different breeds of dogs. Not sure which one I'll try out first, haha.
I'm much more of a cat person, but I might try this game out. xD

I might get it, but I'll need a DS first... and this isn't enough to make me buy one. When New Mario Bros. comes out, I might get a DS, and then Nintendogs later.

Surely you must at least be interested in Animal Crossing DS, coming this December. I'd say that should warrant a purchase, no matter who you are. Not to mention Mario Kart, Prime Hunters, the New Mario Bros. of course, and whatever Rare will have to offer in the future.
It's nice to see this sudden boom in development, because I'll be the first to admit, the current selection of DS games are rather stale. I myself still only have Mario 64 DS, and that's it.

Not a fan of importing then? :D
I wouldn't have Band Brothers or Jump Superstars otherwise.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.... get out of my head.

Anyone here have a chance to play Meteos? I know it's basicly a Tetris Attack clone but I can't resist a puzzle game. And as for the multiplayer games coming, I have a feeling i'm going to get schooled by you guys. :D

I heart Meteos. Buy it if you haven't. And I actually have a very large DS game set. I think I have about 10-15 DS games. Latest being Advance Wars and Nintendogs.

If it's a tetris like game then I'll pass. I hate Tetris.
I have a relatively average amount of DS games right now.
Super Mario 64 DS
Metroid Prime: hunters (demo) (came with the DS) (overrated game)
Retro Atari Classics (under-rated game)
Yoshi's Touch & Go
Pokemon Dash (VERY under-rated game) (most people hate it, but I like it)
Future game getting plans:
Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga 2
Mario Kart DS
Animal Crossing DS (looks interesting. With no gamecube I never got to try the first one)
Also, it's a dark day when people even think of making a game where just take care of a dog (I hate dogs).

I love dogs (unfortunately I lost mine in January after having him for 14 years :(:() but I can't see me buying this game ever. I don't want to look after a virtual dog, I'm surprised so many people do to be honest.

I'm glad the DS (or Nintendo, for that matter) has a really strong game that is pulling more and more gamers back to Nintendo. If they kept making games that sold this well, Nintendo might finally be a fighting force in the next-gen console battle.
PS: Nintendogs reminds me of that 'kiddie' image Nintendo portrayed during the GameCube era. I found it extremely bizarre how a game like this is selling so well. Can't complain though, I'm pulling for Nintendo in the next-gen console battle.

Although it might be a kiddie imaged game, my friend's parents and 20 year old friend steal his DS to play Nintendogs. I am quite amazed how powerful (not really, but how it effects people) this game is; it's kiddie, but in a way that appeals to all. Nintendo should make all of its games like this, although some are.
I think Nintendo is going to, well, pwn or have a better reign in the next generation than the Gamecube. When Nintendo finally gets some power (Revoloution, although not as powerful as we would want), they will be able to release some awesome games.
Personally, although Nintendogs is awesome, the DS is only doing well because the PSP doesn't have enough games to really appeal to anyone. The tides may change when Final Fantasy VII for the PSP is released, but that is far away. Nintendo is beginning to release some excellent titles for the DS, making it even more popular. Although this is a DS/Nintendogs topic, I'm just saying, if Sony doesn't pick up the pace (hope it doesn't, hehe) wit hthe PSP, it is going to be smothered in the ever growing beats that is DS.
(Sorry for straying off-topic)
I wish I had a DS right now to play Nintendogs. Sigh.

Nintendogs is great. It will turn the most stone hearted gamer into a sop. When I was hacking the gamesaves I had to play through a little bit and I was being all cutesy with my dog, and I looked over and the boss was looking strangely at me and pointing to the door. "Get out!"
Later on he asked for a go and he was having problems getting his dog Rambo to sit. Then finally he did it and I heard him saying "good boy" while petting it.
The ideas are just great, from the bubble blower where you blow into the mic to make bubbles appear on the screen, to the frisby throwing. Teasing the dog with treats by not letting the stylus go is quite fun but the dog will get a bit angry with you.
I recently unlocked all the items and it's great to see
Controllable Mario, Peach and Bowser karts aswell as remote control helicopters. The novelty wears off these quite quickly but it's always good to see your dog trying to claw the kart as you drive past.
I personally am not suprised at how well this game is doing.

What? Bah. I just knocked my respect for you down a couple'a pegs.
Sorry, but we own two small dogs (Female Cairn Terrier and Male Maltese) and they're great. People who don't like dogs = Not cool.
Of course, by the time this sentence is finished, I'll have forgetten what you
So, Nintendogs sold that much in its first week, huh? Awesome.

Well you know I wouldn't be too surprised if we saw Nintencats in the not-so-far future. Nintendogs' success might prove that.

My Chihuahua has a pirate hat. A PIRATE HAT. If that is not awesome, I don't know what is. My score for Nintendogs is Awesome/10.

I'm just gonna be really scared for when GTA: Liberty Storied hits for the PSP this (or next?) month. GTA is the one thing that really made the PS2 really popular, and if it's going to do the same for the Portable, I'm really scared for Nintendo.

Don't be scared for Nintendo. This wont affect them at all as they have their own strategy, it's a totally separate market. People I know are bypassing the PSP for the DS because they own a PS2/XBox and will be getting PS3/360 and they want something different for their handheld.
