Does anyone know if the Xbox 360 will be backwards compatible?

No.
Although you'll probably be able to play Halo...and...well...Halo 2.

I heard that they said just 20 games would run. But maybe they ment that they'd make them run on emulation and that they would not be sure if all games would run. But the thing with emulation is that you can download updates, and since they said that they said that 20 agmes would run (at launch) you may be able to download updates in the emulation with the free download services included with the console.

As quietly it was reaveled, the Xbox 360 should be compatible with many Xbox games. Backwards compatibility will require the use of a hard drive to store emulation code. This means that gamers looking to play Halo 2 on 360 should steer clear of the Core package. The hard drive will be used to emulate the Xbox 1 hardware and many Xbox games will require tweaks to the emulator code. One emulator does not simply allow the playback of every original Xbox game so Microsoft is forced to pick and choose which titles to spend time on. It is almost a guaranteed that the Halo games will run from day one with an emulator preloaded onto the hard drive. We've also learned from our sources that Microsoft isn't just looking at sales numbers for backwards compatible games- they also want the highest quality games on Xbox to translate over to 360 regardless of sales numbers.

Eh, but highest quality is strictly opinion based in most instances. I find VexX to be one of thre best platform game game engine/design wise ever. However, I doubt it gets ported.

I find it amusing how Nintendo is going to be able to successfully emulate all their past games from all their past systems, and yet Microsoft can't even do it for just their one past system.
To call this "backwards compatibility" is an unjustification of the term. There's no bloody point.

The revolution will probably launch for $199.99 US, but that's just based on past prices. Nintendo is great for appealing to our wallets, so it's probably not too far from whatever figure they're planning.
If that's the case, the $249.99 will likely be the Canadian price :p
