I think it's tommorrow, and, it'll only be the "function" of the controller.

I think I speak for most of the people here about the controller:
What a piece of ****. That looks way too simple for modern gaming. Come on, 3-4 buttons? What the hell is Nintendo's problem with catching up with modern times? I don't want to play on a ****ing remote, I want to use a damn controller.
Nintendo just went way, way, down in my books.

They say, on IGN, you can play it like a GCN controller. (http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651559p1.html)

If what they said in that article is true, it'll be awesome! I like the idea of using the controller as a flashlight/fishing pole/etc.; we've never seen anything like that before. I can't wait to try it out. :D

I've got some crazy, forward-thinking ideas too. What about this thing called a vacuum tube? It's a glass tube with no air in it, and you can use it to control the direction that electrons flow -- what use could anybody ever have for that?

I'm going to dropkick you.
First of all, don't you dare take the liberty of speaking for me if that's the filth you're putting in my mouth. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and I would have been pleased if you had, but that's not opinion. What you said tells me you cannot see or think outside the box, and it pains me.
Obviously you have a different idea of what constitutes "modern times". If being modern is sticking with a 10-year-old control scheme, then by all means, play your Xbox 360 or PS3. But I happen to believe being modern is exactly what Nintendo is doing with this controller, and we should be kissing Nintendo's ass for this opportunity.
This controller puts Nintendo in an unbelievable position. Their third party titles will offer a unique method of interaction that their PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts will not experience. Those people will be starving themselves of something new and fun. You're not a gamer unless you're always looking for new and exciting things, and you're definitely not a gamer if this Revolution controller does not appeal to you. And if that's the case, then I suggest you take your ideas of conformity and go join GameFAQs. Nintendo doesn't need you.
Just do me one favour. Read this article (http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651224p1.html), and if you're still too stubborn to accept that Nintendo is providing you with a great, unparalleled gaming opportunity... then I will respect your decision. But don't ever blatantly dismiss these ideas ever again, because I unequivocally guarantee you that I will not be so nice next time.

Ok, first off I love the idea of the remote. I can see tons of fun, new concepts and game ideas spawning from this device. However, the ONLY reason I'm for it is because it is dock-able in a conventional shell, meaning that not EVERY game will be played with that. This makes it more of an additional peripheral and less of a mandatory method of play. I mean, I'm sure it will be required in a large portion of games, but I'm sure not EVERYTHING will force you to play it like that.
None the less, not liking the device isn’t conforming to anything. Take the television. There were talks of a goggle type television that you would just put over your eyes. As modern as that may be, I don’t think I’d like the idea of not being able to see anything other than the television. Does this make me a conformist, stuck in my old ways? Sure. If you want to consider my wanting to be able to watch television and do other things at the same time outdated, go ahead. If you consider me enjoying lying down and playing video games with my controller sideways without having to worry about tilt sensitivity outdated, go ahead.
Furthermore, you don’t HAVE to like everything Nintendo dishes out to you. You don’t have to blindly lead in to whatever device they come up with. If they came up with a ball with no buttons and every game was just played by moving this ball around and nothing else, would you like it? I could see it being cute for awhile, but not for every game type all the time. If you still like it, fine, you’re entitled to your opinion. However, saying you’re a dirty conformist that should leave Nintendo anyway just because you DON’T like the gyroscope-ball idea is pitifully wrong.
Plus, you always say not to judge something before you play it. If that is the case, then your own remarks are hypocritical. “You're definitely not a gamer if this Revolution controller does not appeal to you.” Why should it just appeal to you? You’ve never used it either. For all you know there COULD be a bunch of games like swat the fly and you COULD find yourself getting bored and tired of the device within a short period of time yourself. Maybe they ARE gamers, and they don’t want to rush in to getting hyped up over some hapless gimmick that isn’t as fun as the possibilities would allow.

Dude, I saw the ****ing movie advertising the controller and I still think it's a peice of ****. I've also read that article and many others.
EDIT: After watching the movie for a second time today, I still don't see how it will benifit games very much except for maybe fishing games. The remote looks like it would make your fingers hurt a great deal after playing because it simply does not look very comfortable at all.
Yes, I was wrong for trying to speak for everyone and I apologize for that. My mistake. No need to call me anti-Nintendo or anything. Hell, I hope the Revolution sells tons and tons and it brings Nintendo back to the prosperity they had before the Virtual Boy. My brother might buy one, but I know I won't.
Maybe I got too hyped up on other ideas and was very disappointed to see a remote control. I don't know.
Sorry for jumping on your back. No hard feelings! :D
EDIT 2: I saw another article discussing a shell of a controller that attached to the Revolution remote. I would use that if I ever played the Revolution. More buttons and 2 thumbsticks.

Sorry if I seemed arrogant or belittleing in that post. I didn't realize how the context came off until I reread it (which wasn't until a couple days after I posted it because I, uh, didn't proof-read it  ).

Heh, I experience that all the time. I make a post and think it's the best thing in the world, and the next day it's like "Erm...." :)

No hard feelings at all :) I'd say this was a pretty fun, healthy debate. It would be incredibly boring here if we all agreed on the same things.

In fact, I must say that this has been one of the most intellegent and civilized topics that we've had lately.

A moral we all can learn from this topic (kind of complicated): We, RWPers and all, will never get along and reach sanity until we have an opinion, but stay open; argue in favor for what we believe currently, but keep it civilized, fair, and open; An opinion is just ones take on something currently, and to treat it as permanent or as something worth putting others down for is ridiculous. Our forum is just an example of this moral broken: flame wars are just stubbornness, spamming is to annoy to agrivate and stay primordial, and topics like this are rare due to this stubbornness and selffishness.
All we need to do is stay open, with the Revoution controller and all. I feel like I'm just repeating the ideas of others, but I want to say that I try to follow the moral to keep RWP without another spammer. RWP is the best thing on the internet, and is the reason I go on the computer every day. Thank you. (Kind of strayed but that's just me).

After reading all the posts it's been reaffirmed why I visit here so often. :) Now as for my views on the controller, I personally like the idea. And with the addition of the shell for third party games I can't really find any problems with it. My thoughts have turned to what other add-ons Nintendo might release, We know of the shell, and the analog stick but what else do you think we (doubt it but...) might need?
