Welcome new members! Nice of you to join our happy Rare Witch Project Family! Well, unfortunately, lately, it hasn't been so nice. So that's why I'm here to tell you how to survive at our forums. Here's a good starting list.
The Unofficial Rare Witch Project Forums Posting Recommendations
Use common sense in thinking what to post and not. If you think it's bad, then it probably is.
Use correct grammar and spelling, if possible.
Please do not use obsessive AIM talk, such as "wtf" or "rofl".
Please use the search button at the top of the screen before you make a topic. If there is already a topic about it, post in that one. If the topic found is four months old, or more, you may start a new topic about it.
Please, don't make up fake cheats just to impress us. It has been done in the past and it tends to anger other members.
Don't post one-liners. Make your posts have something that people want to read.
If your post gives away spoilers to a game, book, or movie, please use the spoiler tag when you post. [SPOILER]
Turn off CAPS LOCK. If your post has all capital letters, it will instantly change to lowercase letters.
While debating is fine, we don't really enjoy flaming or insulting other people for their ideas. If you have a problem with another member, put it in a Private Message.
If you are going to post something of a sexual, violent, or offensive nature, please warn us before we click the link. "NSFW" is an acceptable warning.
No spamming, simply put. (Spamming includes obsessively posting site links.)
You can not post ROMs or other illegal programs on this site. If you need a certain ROM, don't make a topic. Private message someone about it.
If you have a problem with somebody else on the forums, keep it out of the topics, please.
Do not double post! Please just use the edit button.
No advertising in topics, other than ones made in the Creative Cavern, but you may put your website in your signature.
You must also understand that if you violate some of these rules, you are subject to a banning or a loss of privileges .
If you have something illegal or have done something illegal, please do not post about it here.
No pornography is allowed on the RWP Forums.
Please do not have extremely long signatures. If your signature is longer than four lines, that's a problem.
Alternate accounts are not allowed, and are subject to banning.
Permanent leaving topics are not allowed, and may get you banned.
No threads regarding your post count are permitted.
Threads regarding reputation you received are not permitted. Please contact an administrator.
The Official Rare Witch Project Reputation Guidelines
What does reputation do?
Reputation helps to identify someone as a good or a bad member. The reputation system promotes quality over quantity, rewarding users for worthwhile posting and overall contribution to the community.
What are the requirements to give or receive reputation?
To give reputation you need:
A minimum post count of 50.
A minimum reputation of +10 points.
To receive reputation:
There are no requirements, anyone can receive reputation.
Can I be banned/penalized for having a bad reputation?
No, having negative reputation or receiving many negative reputation comments is not, by itself, grounds for a ban. However, it is difficult to get more negative rep then positive, and the same poor behavior that leads to poor reputation can lead to a ban.
How much rep do members start with?
10 points are given upon registration.
How do I give someone reputation?
On every post, there is a scale icon in the top right corner. This is the reputation button.
Click it on the post you wish to leave reputation for, select either "Approve" (positive reputation) or "Disapprove" (negative reputation) and, if you wish, leave a message. Then click "Add to reputation" to complete the process.
How can I see how many reputation points I have?
The number of green or red bars next to your posts
Your user information box at the top right of every page.
How do I see the reputation I've been left?
A box titled " Latest Reputation Received" will appear in your User CP, with a list of the last 5 Rep you have received, either positive or negative, usually with the comments that were given and the post and date of the the Rep.
How can I figure out who gave me a reputation comment?
Unless a moderator or an admin checks for you, there is no way to be certain. The only other way to know is if they leave their name in the comment.
How much reputation altering power (RAP) do I have?
Everyone starts with 1 point of RAP. As your Rep goes up or down, so does your RAP.
Your RAP will be increased by 1 point for each of the following:
For every year spent on the forums
For every 1000 posts you make.
For every 100 Rep points you have.
How often can I leave reputation comments?
You can only give out reputation to 5 people in a 24 hour period. Make sure you use your points wisely.
To prevent abuse of the rep system, you can't give rep again to the same member straight away. You have to give reputation to 5 different users before you hit the same member again.
When should I give positive reputation?
You should give positive reputation whenever you feel that the post of another member of the forum was good and deserving of some praise. For example, if you think that a member's post answered your question very well, you can rep them so that they know that you are appreciative of their contribution.
Ask yourself, "Would this post be helpful to a newbie trying to understand the topic?" Is the post well written, informative, and reasonable? Is it especially clever, funny, or representative of the kind of attitude the RWP values? If yes, give a positive score.
When should/shouldn't I give negative reputation?
The issue of when you should give negative reputation is a tough one. Do NOT give a member negative reputation if you simply disagree with them. Do not give negative reputation for simple mistakes, a link to the forums rules will suffice.
Only give negative reputation in extreme situations. If a user constantly spams, flames and cause a nuisance, you may think about giving negative reputation.
Please remember to leave a comment when giving negative reputation. Negative rep without a comment will be deleted without question.
I don't agree with a Rep score I received. What do I do?
The Rep system is a broad, informal measure of how members collectively value each other's input. It's hoped it can be used more in fun than in conflict.
Re-read the post in question: perhaps there was a reasonable, objective reason why a fellow user felt the way he or she did about what you wrote.
However, we don't want the Rep system to inhibit participation, and we know it can be abused by people with too much time on their hands.
If you feel that you received a Rep score unfairly, please send a link to the post in question to an Admin. Do not post about it in the forums.
What is rep abuse?
The following constitutes rep abuse:
Repeatedly leaving negative reputation for the same member for no good reason.
Leaving nothing but or almost nothing but negative reputation comments for people in general.
Using flaming, cursing, and insults in reputation comments.
Leaving someone else's name with a negative rep .
Giving positive reputation to unworthy posts just because you like the member.
Rep abuse can result in:
Your reputation being disabled/put into the negative.
A ban.

The Rare Witch Project now operates a "three-strikes" policy. Unfortunately, in an online community of our size, there will occasionally be the need for the site administrators to take action against a member for continued non-compliance with the rules and guidelines of this site. "Three Strikes & You're Out" simply means that you are given three "chances" before your account is disabled. Two official warnings will come from site moderators, and will state the offence and ask politely that you adhere to site guidelines. The third note will be from a site administrator and will result in a permanent, irreversible ban from the site.
