I was just wondering if you guys had any info on this game.....

It was a lumberjack game compatible with the Hey You, Pikachu mic. Every time you'd cut a tree down you could yell TIMBERRRRRRRRRRRRR and get bonus points.

Apparently Timber 64 was a game that would star Timber, Pipsy, and Bumper from Diddy Kong Racing.

Other than that, there isn't anything else. :(

Ah, I wish I did have info on the game. Unfortunetly, what Twi said above is the extent of my knowledge on this. I think it would have made a great game if it came to be.

Edit to Alakazam: I would SOOOO buy that game! :D

Is there even any proof that this game ever existed?

All I can find are forum discussions on it, but no real good sources.

I think it was considered by Rare, but nothing ever came out of it. Besides, a whole game dedicated to Timber and his freakishly large eyes, that's the stuff of nightmares.

And the mic thing sounds like it could get old VERY quickly.

I don't think that it will, maybe you shouldn't have rushed on the username.

Maybe if Rare decides to use Timber for the next Nuts & Bolts outing if they decide to use Banjo for platformers again.

Rare can't use Timber anymore because he's such a large part of Diddy Kong Racing, of which they went out of their way to remove Conker and Banjo on the DS. I assume that Nintendo pretty much owns him. The question is, why did Rare allow Tip Tup?

Twi
26th March 2009, 01:21 AM
I'm pretty sure Rare owns the DKR characters sans Diddy and Krunch.

No. Timber is my favorite Diddy Kong Racing character so that is why I chose it.

Wow i never heard of timber 64

So, does anyone have any speculation on what kind of game this might have been (based on the kind of character he was and all?)

In case nobody remembers, Timber was actually the owner of the island that the entire Diddy Kong Racing game took place on...

I'm under the impression that he was a rich spoiled brat. So if they ever HAD made a game featuring him as the main character (other than DKR), it might have been something similar to a cross between Banjo Kazooie and Conker 64. I just can't see Timber really getting his paws dirty, or doing too much physical work to stop enemies...lol...
But I think that Timber was pretty much a one run character to explain the story in Diddy Kong Racing.

GameMasterGuy

Maybe it would be a sim.

QuantumError

A sim?
What, necessarily, do you mean?

GameMasterGuy
9th April 2009, 02:49 PM
simulation, like Roller Coaster Tycoon and Sim City. You wouldn't actually cut trees, rather you would pay others to and decide what upgrades to spend your money on.

QuantumError
9th April 2009, 03:12 PM
LOL....
That would have been.........
ODD...?
If that's the right thing to say. :p

Well, a platformer about a hillbilly bear and a wiseguy bird rescuing the bear's sister from a witch with a tower, which is right over their heads yet they never noticed, collecting musical notes to break down doors in order to advance, and the word "Corr", which I still have no clue what it means, as well as a mole that just so happens to know all the moves in the game and actually knows he's in a game is something that Rare made, so why not a woodcutting sim?

QuantumError
9th April 2009, 05:55 PM
So strange.....so so so strange....

BUT! If it was just a bit more than simply cutting wood...
Maybe you go out in the forest in search of some particular fabled mega wood tree or something, in the process, having to cut down other trees, building bridges and other contraptions to get from place to place, combating woodland creatures, and meeting new and hilarious creatures and characters that aid and assist you along the way, some of which stay with you, and some that hinder your journey.
I mean, it wouldn't be some boring wood cutting game, but a bit more intimate than that. Just imagine that in Banjo Kazooie, you had to find all of your jiggy's inside of trees...that could be something along the way of what Timber 64 might have kinda been getting at. You need to find certain prizes and trinkets inside of these trees.

What else did you have in mind?

Twi

My guess is that it would've been a platformer, or maybe something like Nuts & Bolts.

Most of the DKR team worked on NAB.

Timberfan
10th April 2009, 02:20 AM
well. Pipsy and Bumper were going to co star

Where did anyone find this stuff out?

Ken
12th April 2009, 02:29 AM
Timber = Trophy Thomas

Tee-Hee
12th April 2009, 03:18 AM
Somehow I think not. Besides, Trophy Thomas is a leopard.

EDIT: Not that it's hugely relevant, but originally my fangame/tribute Fidello was going to have Timber as the main protagonist but I decided to change it to an original character.

Honestly it does make me sad as Timber is by far my favorite rare character. I think his game would have been a platformer in the forest or something. It is terrible that we don't know much about this game, but maybe some day Rare would explain wat could ave been (if it ever even got that far)

Twi

When is the next Scribes due? Perhaps someone could ask about this title?

Monkey Boy 64
13th April 2009, 02:59 AM
I probably would have hated it. Timber annoyed the crap out of me.

Now a Drumstick game... THAT would have been kickass.

Timberfan
29th April 2009, 09:47 PM
Yes. I would really like some more info on this game. I heard it was going to be released around the same time as Banjo Kazooie's original 1997 release date

I've seen on a few different websites that a screenshot of Timber 64 was supposed to exist somewhere, but I've never seen it. I highly doubt the game was ever officially worked on, though; it was probably just an idea.

On a side note, I really would like to where some of these webites came up with the idea that Timber 64 would also include Pipsy and Bumper from DKR. Why those two, and not, say, Drumstick for example?
