Now more official than ever.

Just because Wario Ware is sucessful, Sony HAS to copy it? That's not a console, or a controller design, that's a GAME CONCEPT!

By the way, Sony WILL get sued if this is released. Notice the blatant Mario and Luigi cloning. Those thar at Sony are bitches.

Its so similar to Mario and Luigi, I dont believe that this is real. Sony wouldn't do that.

Whoever thought up that game is in deep ****. I'd be angry but it seems to me Nintendo's wrath will be much stronger than mine.

It's too bad when Nintendo's original ideas always get copied, and it's even worse when the copies sell better and Nintendo gets no credit. Look at the Blinx the Time Sweeper (Xbox) and Luigi's Mansion. There's far too many similarities there. And the Wavebird controller? Now it's a standard for controllers to be wireless. Far too often are Nintendo's ideas ripped. I hope whoever's bright idea it was to use Mario and Luigi lookalikes gets it.

You'd think they'd have learned from their mistakes in copyright enfringement after they got sued for their controller. I'm a pretty big fan of Sony, but it'll be funny to see where this goes.

Whoa...do they seriously think they can get away with this!? It really ticks me off when people do things like this! We must take action! *holds up torch and pitchfork*

Right after Kingdom Hearts 2 and FFXII come out. Oh, and Daxter too!

This just makes me madder at them. I was already fuming at them about.... something else....

Also, if you follow the link to the official website, you can view a trailer for it. The site is Japanese, but, when the sites done loading, you can see a VHS tape at the bottom left-hand corner. Click, and you see the trailer.

Mario and Luigi are at the very beginning of the trailer.

I saw a commercial for this game on public TV. I RARELY watch TV and I saw the preview for this game and thought wtf already. I'm shocked no one else has.

I don't know how this would go. I guess it depends on who has the better attorneys. I can definitely see how Nintendo could start a claim, but I also see how Sony could shoot them down.

Just for the record, "Blinx the Time Sweeper (Xbox) and Luigi's Mansion" are NOT similar even in concept. I've played both thoroughly and don't see how you're making this connection, personally? Sure, you can suck things up but (...). You can suck things up in Mickey's Circus Adventure too, and that is an OLD OLD game. You don't even suck up the same TYPE of things in Blinx. Plus it is more of a direct suck up, not a gradual one.

Ah, I love Nintendo fanboys. So narrowminded.

Quoted for emphasis, though this applies to all fanboy-ism. (I'm really tempted to de-rail this thread into a Freakazoid topic, but I'll play nice.)

I can definitely see how this could border on being copywrite infringement based on the duplication of intellectual property, but mostly I view it as a refreshing parody of video games in general. So it's a blatent rip-off, which is something that applies to nearly every single video game in creation. I personally say just laugh, think of it as an odd tribute, and move on.

That was a very poor comparison on my part. I have not actually played Blinx. When it came out relatively in the same time period and I saw the similar ways Blinx used his vacuum like Luigi did I assumed some ideas were "exchanged". Ah, well one shouldn't assume. You know what assume means, right? :D

Another thing that Sony stole from Nintendo. The EyeToy.

Nintendo originally unveiled a camera that hooks up to your system called "I don't remember". No one was paying attention to this, except for Sony. They took the idea, called it EyeToy, and made it more well known then the Nintendo product. Now Nintendo can't release it without a bunch of Sony fan boys going, "OMG! Nintendo's teh N00b. Tey ran Out of ideas adn t00k Sony's." It's funny how Nintendo can't get away by supposedly stealing a product, but Sony can can away when they really do steal something.

The above about the EyeToy is true. You don't have to belive me, but it's true.

Andre says that Nintendo fans are narrow-minded, and that's true (I think I am narrow-minded), but then Sony fans must be rabid animals. They make a fuss abut Nintendo "stealing" a product that Sony stole! If you can't find find anything wrong with that, then you must either be illiterate (you must not be reading this, then I'm wrong), or a Sony fan. For the former, I'm sorry that you never bothered to learn how to read. The latter, I just hope that you notice the truth about Sony.

R Hunter
30th October 2005, 05:29 PM
I believe you are referring to the Game Boy Camera. While they are both similar the eyetoy was more than just a way to print out stickers whith your picture or whatever you snapped on them. The eyetoy has various games that require you to move and generally act in a manner that you would not in public or around your friends. :) So yes while the general functions may be identical, the uses for both differ greatly.

30th October 2005, 07:06 PM
No, I am not talking about the Game Boy Camera. It is actually just like the EyeToy. It was set for the GC, and it had all the same functions. I really can't find the site that I found the name, but it was something like, "Nintendo Fun Camera something something".

But seriously, this is an idiotic move on Sony's part. There's no way they are going to go through with this idea. Their company would lose so much money in lawsuits, it would kill PS3 promotion that they will so dearly need.

Wow, just look how much has the internet mistaught me. Thanks for the clear-up there, Andre.

I had just shown the page with the Maio and Luigi, and he actually made a good point. Hew is a lawyer, so he pointed out thest hings. Sony could win the lawsuit (I hope not) because not enough people recognize Mario to make it a rip-off (not likely). Another one is the terrible exception to copyright law. The parody. Sony could be parodying Mario and Luigi, and that is where the line is drwn. Are they too clost to resemble Mario and Luigi to no longer be a parody?

Another point: Just because they are in the game doesn't boost Sony's sales or drop Nintendo's. It's not doing any harm to anyone, so my dad asks, why does anyone care? This is only really presentable if this is giving Sony money or making Nintendo lose it. It does not do any of those two, or does it? If it does, then Nintendo might win. If not, Sony.

Of course, this all changes if this case is brought up in the Japanese court (is it?). If it is, then my dad's predictions would be screwed. He knows nothing about Japanese copyright law, only American.

My dad's verdict: A tough choice, but if this is the American court, he says Sony would win (my heart shook when he said that). Discuss hese points that me father pointed out.

I do hope that Sony falls in to a 10-foot pool of turd, but they just might not.

Haha, I've been waiting for an excuse to post this (http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/1158/image6me2gd.jpg) all day.

Edit: About the eyetoy/camera controversy, as far I know Nintendo was working on some sort of camera device but never went ahead with it. (Can't remember if the eyetoy was around before it or not) In any case it would entirely Nintendo's fault for being too slow in getting the camera out of the door.

That Sony Revolution thing is funny because, well, it IS true. Sony also stole the Spider-man Movie font for the PS3. I can't wait until they use the fantastic 4 thing for the Playstation (4)(That was meant to be a 4 in a circle)

I'm kind of reminded how Ratchet & Clank is a blatant rip-off of Banjo-Kazooie, to me, because the second character is stuck on the first character's back for the majority of the game, and they work together as a team to do moves and solve puzzles in a 3-D platformer. Screw what anyone says, Why should Ratchet and Clank get so much publicity when they're just some jazzed-up techno version of a much better game?
Poor Sony. They also took the 4-controller thing and used it too. Too tired to come up with your own ideas, Sony? All you have for a mascot is Crash Bandicoot, and that's even lamer than Sonic.

I'm not a hardcore Nintendo Fanboy, hell I plan to own whatever system Banjo-Threeie come out on, but please. Nintendo has always been inventive with its technology (although the current tirade of Mario Games has been mostly cameo crap) and it's pitiful how Sony follows like a copycat. And the X-Box, hoo boy, er, DAMN YOU BILL GATES!

I don't know how many times people have to say it, but even if the Revolution is the poorest selling console, Nintendo will still be making more money than Microsoft and Sony. Some of you guys have no idea how much Nintendo is just laughing at the bank :p

They're a multi-billion dollar corporation.

I'm sorry, but as a protector of Spelling and Grammar, must sincerely scoff at your folly of grammar. Here I go!
"Nyehehehehehehehehehehehehehe!"

I happen to like Sony, but I do think that they're in deep s-h-[Short 'I' sound]-t with this one. The Mario and Luigi idea was just a retarded oversight, or a pot-shot. One or the other...

Thank you Gold-J. Your insight makes me feel warm inside. As a Nintendo fanboy living in a place where not having an X-Box makes you a gay ***, (not a cigarette, for you Brits) it feels good to be able to proudly say,
"Nintendo's been making game for how long? Oh, that's right, a hell of a lot longer than Sony and Microsoft! And what's that?! They're making more money too?! Oh, dear, stop the presses, Nintendo's WINNING!"
And then I say w00t! and rub it in their faces...
