Anyone who knows of this "snaking?" Well, on the Nintendo Forums, nearly every other post in the MKDS Forum is about snaking. Some say its cheating, some say its a good skill to have. Me? I say its a skill rather than a cheat, only because I'm trying to master it. :D
Basically, snaking is a technique in which you continuously perform power-slides (this can also work on straight-ways, if you practice ;)) which will make you move a lot faster than usual (although you could possibly break your thumb trying to do it :p).
Whoever else can do this, please give me tips! :D There is an NSider Forum "guide" (if that's what you want to call it) on snaking located here. (http://forums.nintendo.com/nintendo/board/message?board.id=mario_kart_ds&message.id=122267) And here's (http://taymour786.tripod.com) a [poorly made] video of Bowser performing this snaking technique through-out Figure-8 Circuit.
Anyone who can master this, like I said before.... help me! :p

I don't think it's cheating either. Cheating would be using an Action Replay resulting in an unfair advantage... snaking is just using a feature that's already, legitimately in the game.
Anyone who complains about it can shove their DS up their arse and jump off an elephant.

It's not cheating by any means. If Nintendo put the ability in the game themselves, it would be imprudent to say that it's unfair. Unfortunately, the end result is not in favor for beginners!

If you want tips for the power slides... ummm... come to fake street 123:p
Just joking, but if you aren't talented enough, you'll fail it on straight ways!
First, choose a kart with the highest drifting level,then... just keep going!

I actually know a better video of snaking right here. (http://trickgamer.org/tgforum/viewtopic.php?t=1730)

Since the first video was a bit blocky, and the 2nd didn't work, I'm guessing this "Snaking" thing is just doing power slides non-stop? I do it all the time. How I mastered it, was by first mastering it on Double Dash (It's a bit easier to do on DD). Since it was the same thing, I picked it up on the DS version quickly.

I wondered how long it would take for this to appear here. Multi-boosts are nothing new. Pfft, snaking.

I say it it's just not fair, simply because if the guy in 1st place is doing it, nobady will catch up, even if 50 red shells keep hitting the guy

If you want to make it fair, why don't you do it too?

Man, if you think that is hard, try snaking in F-Zero GX. That is fast and hard...... yet I can do it.....and not this.
The bad thing about it is, true it can be done by all characters, but, it is much easier to do with heavier characters. Which many people online would hate to do. Too many people use Yoshi online.
BTW, does anybody have reasoning for that?

What's the point if every player has to dumb themselves down to the skill level of the sh!ttiest player racing? It's a racing game... you do what you do to win. It's called competition.

Look, if you think they put it in on purpose, why wouldn't the staff ghosts snake?

Who says they have to? Regardless, snaking is nothing more than doing, on a straight road, what is explained in the following picture of the manual (which nobody seems to read anymore these days):

Either, it's their favorite character, or that Yoshi has good speed and things. I use ROB on his standard kart, and do quite well with him. Since I unlocked all karts, I thought that I could be Yoshi, and have the skills of ROB's kart; but, the stats on them are different.... (I think, I'll have to check that again.)

Yoshi is the bestest, that's why.
