As I played Pikmin 2 a while back began to question if Pikmin is RTS. I know it is strategy, but could it be classified as RTS? Although most RTS have you build a civilization, this game does amke you build an army and control them in real-time. Sorry for the rather lack of intelligence in this post, I was just very curious.

Hmmm... although it is similar, I don't think it would really be classified as RTS.

I have never played Pikmin yet, but from the trailers I saw, the game seems like strategy to me...

And WolvyDaPope, never worry if your posts lack of intelligence until they look like this: ;)

Personally I think the term "real time" is a silly classification anyway. First Person Shooters are happening in real time... we don't call them RTFPSs. Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games are in real time, we don't call them RTMMORPGs. Unless a game is turn based, it's real time.

Yes, but stratagey games can be in either Real-time or turn-based, so that's why the term 'Real Time' is in RTS.

I personally would classify Pikmin as a LRTS (limited Real-time stratagey)

Ummm... OK Whatever everyone does, never play a game called: Real Time Conflict Shogun Empires for the DS (it sucked and I finished it in 1 day)

Way to answer your own question! RTS stands for REAL TIME STRATEGY. So, you said you KNOW it's strategy. And obviously, it's not turn based. This means it is, dun dun dund, REAL TIME STRATEGY!

I was thinking that there was a difference between generic strategy and RTS.
