Banjo Kazooie Pinball. Featuring 9 different modes, one for each world. Knock down huts in Mumbo's Mountain! Strike it rich in Treasure Trove Cove! Adventure through the bowels of Clanker! Challenge the evil Mr. Vile! Make it through the maze in Gobi's Valley! Have a ball in Freezeezy Peak! Journey through the Mansion! Help Captain Blackeye claim his Mystery Pink Egg! Visit all the seasons of Click Clock Wood! Save Jinjos! Play Furnace Fun Frenzy! Fight the witch!
It's all here, in Banjo-Kazooie Pinball.
For those of you who don't know, I once started working on a little project (http://www.rarewitchproject.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4854&highlight=banjo-kazooie+pinball) known as Banjo-Kazooie pinball. It is pretty dang near complete now. Still not perfect, but I've done enough work on it so that it warrants another release. I'm on version 2.2. This version has DIFFICULTY settings, so even if you're not a pinball wizard, you can still have fun. It also has changed gameplay so that you need Jiggies to get to the final battle, rather than to beat all the modes. You get jiggies for starting and completing modes. On normal settings, 94 jiggies are required, just like in the real game. This usually means you have to bea tall the modes except for one. On extra easy settings you only need 50 jiggies, which means all you have to do is start all the modes. On easy, you need 75. On hard you need 96 I believe, and on Extra Hard, you need all 100.
Another thing I changed is that now to get to Furnace Fun, you just have to START all the modes (and have 765 notes).
But enough talk about stuff I added and stuff. Perhaps you're completely new to the whole thing. If so, check out this short demonstration (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLU5rGZgk5k&feature=channel_page) of what it is like. It basically takes the game Banjo-Kazooie and translates it directly into pinball form. There's a mode for every single world, and Jinjos are included and everything. There's a Grunty's Furnace Fun, and even a final battle. It's pretty cool if I don't say so myself.
Soo.... I've compiled EVERYTHING you need into one handy zip file. Download it, unzip it, and then follow the instructions in the README>TXT file. If you follow the directions in that file, everything should work for you.
Feedback and questions are very, very appreciated! Here's a nice little SCREENSHOT (http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/2528/bkpinver2.jpg) of what it looks like.
The file is... HERE (http://www.savefile.com/files/2160767) and HERE (http://www.speedyshare.com/532759892.html) (Either one of them works, not both. The first is a Savefile link, the other is a Speedyshare link.)

Wasn't being sarcastic in the slightest. At best I was offering constructive criticism, albeit a little nondescript.
The art looks like bad MS paint work, and most of the assets are ripped off from the game/elsewhere. Since you didn't design the underlying game (Visual Pinball), there's not much more to critique, although I can certainly appreciate the time and effort you put into it. If feedback is indeed appreciated (as you mentioned in the OP), you should be able to accept feedback that's not favorable, instead of telling me to "**** off".
Theguyoverthere

There's more to the game then just how it looks. Perhaps we have a misunderstanding. Have you ever played a pinball machine? It has modes, objectives, lights go on at certain times, you get points for doing things, etc. This table has over 5,000 lines of code that I wrote telling it how to operate. There's 9 completely different modes that can run at the same time, one for each world, and then an ultra Wizard mode final battle.
Come on, seriously, you can't just look at the ****ing screenshot.
I do appreciate feedback, but all you said was it was horrid. You didn't even give me any clue as to what about the game is horrid. If you think I should spend more time in graphic design, then tell me.

You didn't follow the directions, then. Did you read the part that says "Delete Vpinball.exe and replace with the one in this pack"? What you need to do is go to C:\Program Files\Visual Pinball. Then delete the file that is Vpinball.exe inside there. Then move the file Vpinball.exe from my pinball pack into the folder, to take its place.

I don't think you did it right. I just tried installing it on a different computer, and I got it to work fine. Step by step guide:
1. UNZIP EVERYTHING
2. Install the .msi file
3. Go to C:\Program Files\Visual Pinball (or wherever it installed it to)
Inside this folder there is a Music folder, a User folder, a Scripts folder, and some other things. One of them is Vpinball.exe. Delete this file.
4. Inside the pinball pack, there is a file called Vpinball.exe. Move this file into the Visual Pinball folder.
5. Move all the mp3 files into the Music folder, inside the Visual Pinball folder.
6. Now you can click on the Banjo Kazooie file to start right away, or click on Vpinball.exe to open up the editor and then go File>Open to open Banjo Kazooie pinball.
7. IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS VISTA, then you have to right click on Vpinball.exe and choose Run as Admin.

Who wants to play competitively from people all around the world? Well, now you can with the new script. Simply open up Visual Pinball, open Banjo Kazooie pinball, then click on Script, then do Control+A to select everything, delete it, then copy and paste the new script I've attached. After each game is completed, the game will now give you the option to submit your score!

Glad to know you put lots of effort in.
However it is very clutered, too many glithes, and is a hack of somebody elses game engine.
It does have nice potential though, and sounds like it could be fun.
I spent a few moments learning the keys for operation, but I'd like to see some major inprovements so as to see what this game could be.

Thanks for the specifics...
Hack of someone else's game engine? Dude, it's called Visual Pinball and it's a free program for anyone to create their own pinball tables, using Visual Basic scripting... That's like calling a game maker game a "hack"...
In all seriousness, I have no idea what to improve on as you have not given me any specifics... Glitches? Like what? Cluttered? It's a pinball table.... (http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2684&picno=5276&zoom=1)

Try looking at some of Shinguru Miyamoto's works for Nintendo. Particularly his level design. Try comparing Sonic 1 and Super Mario Bros 1 for example.
Theguyoverthere

Super Mario Bros 1? The video game for the NES? That has nothing to do with pinball...
And the version expired error you get when you don't follow directions. Replace the Vpinball.exe that is installed to your Visual Pinball folder with the one that is included in the downloaded pack...

I must have been too subtle.
It's not the Genre, it's the simple and easy interface. Miyamoto has never made a Pinball game (confirmation?), so I can't use that genre for a perfect example.
Also look at the graphics design and user interface in most of Miyamoto's works, particularly the use of artwork in Yoshi games.
A good simple pinball level design example would be Pokemon Pinball for Gameboy/DS.
Another good example (Capcom) for level design and layout is MegaManX for SNES (the very first intro level).
And the version expired error you get when you don't follow directions. Replace the Vpinball.exe that is installed to your Visual Pinball folder with the one that is included in the downloaded pack...
Again I think you missed my point. It is why that error occurs, not what causes it.
I may have also jumped to conclusions reguarding this, because replacing the main executable file is a very common method used to circumnavigate anti-piracy measures (I won't talk about piracy here on RWP though; its against the rules).

Thanks, I guess it's just not "simple" enough... Fair enough.
The reason you have to replace it is because the site that has Visual Pinball made an .msi installer a long time ago to install it, and then has just been releasing exe files to update it. They figure it's redundant to have to install something more than once if you can just replace the exe. Trust me, it's 100% legal, Visual Pinball is freeware.

I couldn't let you insult a fellow pinhead (a pinball fan) and stay silent. so I am posting a pic of one of my pins, just to show you what you can do with the graphics. OK theguyoverthere's pin does look a tad ugly I'm not gonna' Poosyfoot about there, but at the moment I am helping him learn to make his table look like this one with better looking targets, walls, slingshot rubbers, and a few other minor tweaks. needless to say, his programming skills leave me high and dry! so with his coding and my artwork; just an all around nicer looking table (give me 2 weeks on his pin, I've already started on it), and then you can try to bitch about it being ugly.
On a second note, VP pinball is not exactly user friendly I admit, but there are tons of people on that site (vpforums.org) who will walk you thru installation.
VP is a free pinball construction program created by a pinball fan. he coded the entire program years ago, opened a site (the now defunct vpforums.COM) and let others use it to their hearts content. But It is free.
VP9 on the other hand although free also is an update from vp8 but the two are not compatible as vp9 uses a bigger ball size amonsgt other changes. but I digress, don't knock a game until you've tried them. Also remember these His and mine are originals. There are MANY pins that mimic the real ones in the real world! try one! if you like playing pinball at all (or bagatelle or slots or pachinkos) you'll find something you like on that site. trust me.
OH and GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS TO EVERYONE AND THEGUYOVERTHERE!!

Yes, that pin looks much better. You can see everything. You can plan where to hit the ball, where it will go and what will happen.
The graphics are a bit bland and sketchy, but overall the feel of that table does work well.
You may wish to try using colours with less contrast to each other in the selected pallette. http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html
Also I should mention Peggle, but I don't want to get of topic.

I actually had better graphics, but the pin stands now at 16 megs which is huge for these types of pins. I had to go with plain green for the plastics as well as the plain-looking table color, all the pics were dropped to their smallest kb size. usually a pin is around 6-8 megs when they get over ten megs a lot of people balk at downloading them. I don't know why, with cable connections i download in under a minute. Anyhow, the color scheme is mostly greenish (Herman was frankenstein green) except for the blue arrows, I agree there is a bit of a color difference, but I wanted to show where certain shots should go, since the skill shots are timed using dropping walls that reset with the drop targets. you have to play it to experience it. anyhow I wantto show the graphice for two better programmers who also build these. these guys are 2 of our 'gaming gods' on that site. their pins rival their commercial counterparts. complete with fading lights, multiball, see-thru ramps, tilt, etc. Oh our pins can all be nudged but you must write in a 'tilt' script if you want it to actually tilt from too much nudging. that is how realistic this program is. you can play, or if you want anyone can build a pin. It just depends on what and how much you are willing to learn, for all the pretty bells and whistles.
these are but two of literally hundreds on just that one site. now try to tell me these are ugly! and did I mention this is all free?

9th August 2009, 02:44 AM
oh there are many peggle type of machines also at vpforums.org and try also pinballnirvana.com for thousands of slots, pins, pachinkos, bagettelles, shuffle alleys. originals or recreations they're all good, some are wacky themed (pizza, aliens, different music groups, American Idol season 7 complete with songs by the singers. stuff like this) Oh, there are currently two Michael Jackson pins being created as a tribute to the late great king. ok this is supposed to be about video games, but a computer game is just that too, so I am asking all of you to go to these sites try the pins (download the proper programs for them first; vp8 or vp9) then tell me if you like them or not. for free ya' can't go wrong. if you want to see my pins look up faralos or the 'potc' or Marvel Zizzle pins, "legends' based on deceased comics who influenced me thru my life. or my newest the one you see here, the Munster one, based on the short lived tv series that aired in the USA in the 60's.

Those pins are very well organised. The layout is excelent and clear. The colour scheme works. Very little confusion as to where the ball is and will go. Easy to pick up and play without studying the pin. When the lights trun on they should appear very clear against the backdrop.
However some of the minor details are too small and too many.
Not much I can say that is wrong with this pin, but it must of taken alot of work, time and effort from the creator.
Congrats to the designer. Very well done. Great appeal.

built using a freeware pinball construction programming kit. A pinball fan by the name of Randy Davis wrote a program years ago and built his own (the famous now defunct vpforums.COM) site and uploaded it for everyone to use as they saw fit. This is called VP8! Virtual Pinball is a freeware editor that lets you play pinball machines built on a computer with the vp program. If so inclined you yourself may build a pinball machine of your own choosing. Everything from the shape of the table to every sound, light, scoring, target or event is yours to put in, complete with script for that object. how well your pin looks and works depends on your input. (how much you know and want to learn.) We have fans on our site (vpforums.org) who spend up to a year building pins that rival their commercial counterparts. go over there, just look at some of the pics to the newer recreation of the commercial pins. If anyone here likes pinball by all means check this place out. You may be surprised to learn that there are some original pins on that site that surpass the commercial ones! due to being able to make custom changes to the pin as you play (ramp color change, ala cirqus voltaire), choose difficulty level, ball numbers (3 or 5), things like that that you cannot do on a real one. But I am starting to gush on my fave hobby too much...go check it out (honestly PinballNirvana.com has a much easier vp install pack, it's on their front page just click and it's all self explanatory) just make sure if you have vp8 installed you areplaying a vp8 table and not a vp9. while similar these two programs for the most part cannot interchange tables. the ball is bigger in vp9 for starters...
AND FYI I already have made four tables in the last 8 months mine are all originals except for two that are Zizzle semi-recreations. look up faralos there and check out my pin uploads or just do a search for 'POTC' Zizzle, 'Marvel' Zizzle, 'Legends', or 'Munsters' while there are much better looking pins there of course I'm going to blow my own horn!!

these two pins are exact recreations of their real life commercial counterparts. so if they look cluttered then blame Stern Pinball Co. the last co. left who still makes real pinball machines. these two work as well if not better than the real ones? why? because they don't get dirty or have flippers that break! and they are always free

a lot of the older ones although coded beautifully, are graphically crude compared with what we can do now with rubbers, posts, walls, plastics, and so forth. That's all, and that's what I'm doing with your BK pin. to me that is fun! i'll leave the table decals alone for now I'm just changing those slings and posts all around, the ramp lead-ins, plastics (plastics should be set at ht. of 50 top and 45 bottom making in essence a skinny wall on top of another one set at 25 top 15 bottom) so now you'd have two walls one on top of each other. On that top one is where the plastics images go just like on a real pin. these things are all missing from all the older pins( I know I play mostly older originals for ideas and they're more fun) so I will give you soon a completed pin with all graphical updates! sorry for posting all this pin-related stuff here we should be back home ( at vpf) doing this :D

I just want to say, I made this table for RWP. If you look at the original topic (http://www.rarewitchproject.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4854), you'll see that everyone was thrilled about it and couldn't wait for its release. Now almost 3 years later, I "release" it, and all anyone cares about is how it looks. I made this for the RWP, who I thought would care more about the 9 Banjo-Kazooie related modes, Jinjos, Notes, and Jiggies instead of just the aesthetics.
Don't get me wrong though, if that's what everyone wants me to improve, I will. No feedback is ignored.

I am not a younger member I am 50! but I'm just tweaking his table a bit to make it look more real, with new rubbers and plastics. I am not saying that it is ugly, but we've improved so much over these last few years working with the graphic editors within vp that I asked tgot (theguyoverthere) and received permission to update the graphical aspect of his pin a bit. While the gameplay is fantastic and his coding for that pin is nothing short of amazing (dam this game's tough too, but in a good way!), his graphics are just outdated. So I am helping him with what I have learned so far with that, and maybe you can help me with coding (ok not yet, but I'll call in that favor soon enough!)
So I am not a young snot bitching about your pin, but rather just another pinhead trying to help out a fellow gamer with a few graphical tweaks to an already outstanding pin! ok here it is so far. I did a bit of research and found out about the different colored jinjo's who are now scattered thruout the field as various colored drop targets. i am redoing the walls, putting in plastics as I go. I redid the cavern tunnel to resemble rock and built a cabinet around the table itself I used transparent backgrounds for the score text boxes to open up more of the backglass art. I will be taking off the 'scratched in ' signature' of mine; I received lukewarm reviews, a few said it looked too much like vandalism which is kind of what i wanted but i guess not into a pin lock-down bar! I added a few posts and custom objects/colors to tie the areas into each other better. I also dropped the field of view to give you a wider, lower looking table! there are quite a few updates so far, and I'm not even done yet! I hope this does get played by a few people on here, if not then just enjoy the pics! (if you want this or any other pinball (or bagettelle, slot, pachinko) machine go visit:
vprforums.org, read the various pin programs and download and enjoy for FREE!!

That screen shot certainly looks impressive! I'm going to try to download it now. Btw, I remember when you first started this game. It is nice to see that you have finished it :D
Edit: I couldn't get it downloaded :/. will try again tomorrow.
