(Concept art released)

This better come out. It's been reported to come out on the Wii (http://kotaku.com/5325334/spectors-epic-mickey-is-for-the-wii) (no others) as of right now.

Much as I love KH and am fine with Mickey's 'guide' role in it, I would so love to play a game starring as him again, Castle of Illusion rocked on the SNES! :D

Although, this link for the main post might be helpful too - http://kotaku.com/5325334/spectors-epic-mickey-is-for-the-wii ;-)

I'm very interested in seeing the art direction in-game, considering the highly detailed concept art. :-)

I hope it doesn't come out on the Wii. I would hate to see such awesome style wasted with inferior graphical power.

Disney took over the world, but it turned out to be larger then he initially thought. The last spoken words were "Its a large world after all" before nuclear fire engulfed the Earth.

This kinda reminds me of BioShock and Fallout, but with Disney characters. (Come to think of it, Andrew Ryan always DID remind me of Walt Disney.)

Ok. So a quick hypothetical here. Let's say this game is an Action Platformer RPG with crazy good gameplay and epic boss battles and there are two playable characters: Joe Jonas and Mylie Cyrus. Would you still play it?

Me? Yes. I would also have a newfound respect for both of them.

Has there been a thread on this before? It all seems very... nostalgic somehow.

THANK YOU! I'm so glad I'm not the only person who thought Andrew Ryan was a twisted version of Walt Disney.

Agreed. If they keep the cheesy dialouge to a minimum

We've since been told that it's a Wii-exclusive where you paint your way through levels using the Wii Remote. This 'painting your way' involves you drawing, etching and erasing whole or parts of levels as you go. Capcom's Okami immediately springs to mind but we've not got enough info to go on to make any kind of informed judgement.

As for the story, we've also been told that it'll be based around very old and/or forgotten Disney characters who are out to get their revenge on Mickey, presumably because they're jealous of all his fame and fortune. We Googled 'early Disney characters' and found that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit returned a lot of hits. A bit before even CVG's time all that though.

Wow, that's like Disney with balls!

I love it! I hope it really does come to fruition. Love Mickey's Magical Quest, by the way. ;)

I think this gave me my weird dream last night. D:

I was together with a bunch of people my age at this twisted theme park place, and if you didn't follow exactly what the attendants there said and did, you'd be killed off in a most gruesome way.

I was in the top 25 or so who had the most likelihood of surviving though. o-O

There's no way that'll happen. It'll be rated T, at most.

Yes, it'll be a step in a brand spankin' new direction for Disney.

Not that it'll ever happen, but that could represent Disney's more-or-less recent lapse in quality.

What about the Jonas Brothers? Giant robot teen band with lazars and guns! And you'd get to kill them!

Beautiful concept. I love the idea of well known characters entering a new game type. Although it sounds much more child friendly than I had hoped (Painting isn't something that I personally would enjoy in my games,) it sounds brilliant. This is what something like mario needs to do to become fresh again. I mean, doesn't a gritty new melee based mario game just sound perfect? This game'll be a definite buy for me, just so I can see how it works out.

If Mario needed to "be fresh again", a gritty melee game might be used to finally kill him.

Educate yourself. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9joAb4XMaUs&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fgameoverthinker%2Eblogspot%2Ecom %2Fsearch%3Fupdated%2Dmin%3D2008%2D01%2D01T00%253A 00%253A00%2D08%253A00%26updated%2Dmax%3D2009%2D01% 2D01T00%253A00%253A00%2D08%253A&feature=player_embedded)

At first I was thinking to myself "wow, this looks cool, but the disney thing kind of ruins it" but then I realized it's a complete and total bastardization of Disney making it look dark and steampunk, which I got by the end of reading that article. To hell with the Wii, this should come out on 360/PS3 so that the visuals can be as good as they can possibly be. A game like this deserves it.

That's what I said. The Wii won't be able to realize these visuals.

Well, I don't have to hope, really. And a good non-first-party game will do the little gizmo good.

Have you noticed that Disney does this kind of thing a lot? Disney and some other company collaborate together to make a game that looks a lot like the companies previous games and ideas.
Duck Tales: It looked a lot like mega man, just geared toward younger audiences
Kingdom Hearts: It looked a lot like Final Fantasy, just geared toward younger audiences
Since we don't know anything about the game, besides some amazing screen shots. Its too soon to tell if it will be like the previous Disney games.

It almost seems like the game is the opposite than the games I mentioned. The game would be Disney trying to be geared towards older audiences. What do you think?

An adult oriented Disney adaptation? Original = awesome. Considering the shit they've been churning out lately, I'm surprised the Disney board of directors agreed to this.

Let this game live. For the love of all that is great in this world let it live!

Also, send these concepts to Pixar. NOW!
