(I feel like Andre when I post news or something :P )
Yes, is true... Nintendo's new generation console will include a special feature to block "M" or any category rated by ESRB to small children. "It's correct" said Reggie Fils-Aime; nintendo's market vicepresident.

You may now ask, how will this work? Exactly like any other censorship you may have seen, with the evil password only known to parents...

Sadly I don't have a source for this, because it's taken from Mexico's Nintendo official magazine.

And I don't think this is bad, because it's diferent from just taking away all the violent videogames like some crazy freaks wanted to do... *coughjackthompson&pennybaincough*

Actually, this news is a month or two old :)

But yes, it's a very good idea. This should at least help make parents actually be parents, rather than entertainment corporations and retail outlets. Too many parents these days aren't doing their jobs.

Finally! A good idea! It's about time, I'd say.

I would have to agree. Let's just hope the parents aren't so lazy they won't bother with the feature.

For Rev owners' sakes, I hope the parental controls on this are more foolproof than those on the Xbox 360. On the 360, if you set the parental controls a certain way, you can get your Live account banned until the year 9999 if you try to transfer your Gamertag to the 360. I'm not sure of the exact details, though, because I didn't have this problem. The moral of the story? Set your parental controls to allow you to play any game before transferring your Gamertag.

And to think everyone says Microsoft doesn't take care of the problem of whiny little kids on Live. Pfft. ;) *shot for stealing Gold's style*

vatican has a point, though. Given that parental controls tend to be in the less-obvious menus in console menus/dashboards, it makes you wonder how much the feature will actually be used.

Plus you've got parents who don't even know how to program their own VCR, let alone parental controls on a video game console. But that's their problem -- companies can now say "Well, you should have set the parental controls to block that content" and parents will be all like "Err... I uhh... duhh...", and I'll laugh.

Pfft. ;)

Pity all the kiddies will just buy a PS3 anyway.

...*pays Hakey $20 bucks for dashing his hopes for parental responsibility*

I think it's a good plan. Course, knowing that most people can't program a VCR like Gold said, most likely, it will go unused by most. Bleah...
