When Miyamoto dies?

Will Nintendo keep making Mario/Zelda game even though their creator has passed away?

I hope Nintendo leaves Mario and Zelda alone to be remembered for a great line of games in the past when Shigeru Miyamoto dies. Which is most unlikely to happen.

Or sell it to a trustable company when it reunites.

Microsoft isn't going to sell Rare, and Nintendo isn't going to buy Rare.

But Microsoft could buy Nintendo, Sony would fail, and then the world would be at peace.

What happened to Disney when Uncle Walt died? It just kept on making new things and doing business(although they made some bad decisions in the form of Disney Channel, but that's not the point). When Miyamoto dies, I think Nintendo will just keep moving forward and making new games, great or not. Hey, many of the Mario & Zelda games(Mario & Luigi series, Paper Mario series, Minish Cap, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, etc.) weren't made by Miyamoto, but they still turned out well!

Miyamoto is overrated. He gets credit for so many things he doesn't deserve. You realize that he's barely involved with making any of the new Zelda or Mario games, including SMG. He's too busy with Wii Music.

He is idolized waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. There are people just as good and even better than him in the industry and Nintendo will live when he dies.

So... Mario will have to be eternally a line of spin offs?

EDIT: Sure, Nintendo will live on. But Mario games won't be the same.

Someone will take over , but they won't be the same.

Aonuma will gain full control of the Zelda franchise, and we will see the greatest Zelda game ever.

It's pretty funny that as soon as Wii Fit comes along everyone immediately forgot everything he's done in the past and started with "Miyamoto is so overrated!".

Anyway, of course they'll continue. A lot of things are continued after their creators die, Star Trek is the only example I can think of right now but I'm sure there are others.

I wasn't aware that Miyamoto made the entire series by himself.

Zelda is mainly handled by Eiji Anouma anyway, so that's not really a problem. To be honest, as far as I'm aware his only role in the games is occasionally coming up with new ideas and watching over development going "I think it would be better if..."

Besides, he's not going to die, Nintendo will stick him in an Absolutely Safe Capsule for all eternity.

Miyamoto doesn't have direct involvement in most Mario and Zelda titles these days anyhow. He's more in a supervisory position than anything else. Story, characters, level design, etc., are handled by other people. Miyamoto usually just gives the nod of approval.

So, when Miyamoto does kick the bucket, I think his creations are in good hands. It's doubtful those giant mascots will ever disappear completely.

Look at it this way. Every one gets to be in Smash 4.:)

I've always felt he's overrated, even before Wii Fit. He gets nearly all the credit for OOT being so revolutionary, yet a team of about 200 worked on that game. Where's the credit for the other 199?

I remember Nintendo Official Magazine claiming he had little to do with Majora's Mask so I think he's been out (or at the very least, on the verge) of the Zelda loop for awhile.

Aonuma was given more control of Majora's Mask because Miyamoto made few decisions regarding it. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess had his input about as much as OOT, if I recall.

Remember when Donkey Kong ended up as a music/puzzle game line?

He is increasingly handing over the reigns as he slowly, but surely, approaches that age where you just don't do anything anymore. He'll retire long before he dies (we're assuming naturally here), and there are some talented people behind all these series' these days. They'll be in safe hands.

Dude!
Let's not think about it...... Isn't Miyamoto immortal anyway?
