The first two movies in the series were awesome, and I'm sure Return of the King will be awesome too. The extended versions that come out every year after the original version of the movie is released on DVD makes the experience even more magical. These movies are by far my favorite. They even beat the original Star Wars trilogy which I thought could never be beat. I got the Two Towers DVD last week and I've watched it alot already. I tried watching the Fellowship of the Ring today, but the music score is so soothing and the dialect is as well, that it put me to sleep! I didn't want to miss any more of the movie so I turned to some football games, but I couldn't go to sleep! Amazing huh? I'm anticipating Return of the King alot. I'm sure alot of other peopel are too, espically the Brits here.

I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but I'm pretty excited to see how it ends. The second one really was good, very exciting to see how it'll turn out for someone who has never read the books.

Believe me it will end great. The movie is bound to be excellent. I don't own The Two towers on DVD. I'm waiting till Nov 17th to get the Extended DVD edition (I did the same with FotR). This extended edition will be 5 discs with an extra 40 minutes in the movie.

RotK will be awsome. I'm looking forward to the fight scenes. The one in TTT were great.

Gimli: Master Elf, I've got 2 kills already...
Legolas: I'm on 16!

Pfffffffff, I'm not looking forward to this movie out of a matter of principle. (O.k so I lied, I am anxious to see it because I'm a huge lotr fan)

But here's why I'm not looking forward to it as much as I probably would've been. *SPOILER WARNING FOR THOSE WHO DON'T WANT THE FILM SPOILED*

Can you believe that 'The Scouring of the Shire' is NOT going to happen in this film? I mean the entire ending of the third book is going to be non-existent in this film, who *wouldn't* want to see an army of hobbits take back the shire by force against Saruman?
Exactly, and that makes Saruman an expendable character. (And I know how he meets his 'sticky' end too. However, it will be interesting to see how the Return of the King ends if it's not going to follow the book......

And yes of course the film will be good, and Peter Jackson *should* get the best film award this time around if it's even half as good as its predecessors.

I liked the first movie better for some odd reason, but I am looking forward to the third movie, mainly because it will have Shelob in the beginning.

Well, just to clear something up. The Two Towers original DVD had a preview of the Two Towers extended version. Much to my disapointment, they said it will only have 4 disc again. Just like you guys I'd heard rumors of 5 or 6 disc. But still, I've seen the preview for it and it has some cool scenes.

It shows more about the story behind Boromir and Faramir. It has scenes of them at Minas Tirith talking before they set out their seperate ways. It also has them at Osgiliath, and Boromir is claiming the city for Gondor.

Most of the other scenes were just things you'd expect. More on Merry and Pippin's "sidequest" with the Ents. And more on Frodo and Sam going through the Emyn Muil. Such as the scene were they're climbing down the rope, etc.

SPOILERS END

Anyhow, LOTR in general kicks the gluttious maximus! ROTK will have so many battles. There's four I can think of right of the top of my head! I'm ready for it!

Yeah I knew about all that extended edition DVD already.

filmforce.ign.com is really quite good.

Accodring to them, the extended edition has 40 mons extra footage on it.

I've heard rumors that the extended version will be rated R because in they will have a ton of be-headings. The original version was supposed to have the be-headings, but it got a rating of R, so they had to take them out. Of course, they'd be in the Helm's Deep part. Pleasant huh? It's just rumor I've heard though, nothing to get excited about. If seeing someone's head getting chopped off can be described as "Exciting."

Well if it can't I dont want to know what can. I like to see be-headings. I like Gladiator. hehe *gets evil grin and runs off to get swords*

But weren't there be-headings in the first film? I know there weren't a lot but there were....

Yeppers, LotR is awesome. ^^ One of my friends is obsessed with the series... and Legolas. That's not a bad thing, though... he's a cutie... Bloom... *drools... gets hit by a brick* x_x Whoops. Sorry... ^^;; I can't wait for the 3rd movie... can't wait, can't wait... I have yet to see all of TTT, but I *loved* the TFotR. ^^ 'Twas great.

I just hope you're a girl....It would be kinda freaky if a guy said that. But, yeah the special edition will be cool. I've counted 3 be-headings in the original Two Towers. Wait....maybe I'm the freaky one now....

Anybody who doesn't like TLOTR is an idiot. I usually accept other people's opinions, but this is just common sense ;)!

I read The Hobbit when I was about eight or so, and I'm hooked on the series since. When I heard a film was being produced, I was pretty happy.

Bloody Oscars, they're rigged.

I hardly doubt how beheadings in the Lord of the Rings could earn it an R, especially looking at the first movie.

Professor X
20th September 2003, 06:14 PM
Like I said the R rating thing was a rumor. I don't see how it could be that way either. But I don't really think the the beheadings in the first one were too bad. There was that really big one at the end of the first one. (Where Aragorn chops off the Uruk leader's head) But the only reason that one seemed so bad was because it was obvious. Most of the beheadings are sort of in the background. Or they're at least not the main aspect of focus in their film shot. But anyway, if the extended Two Towers shows any humans getting killed then it will be rated R. If you noticed the only reason the first two weren't R is because it shows no humans getting chopped up. (Except perhaps for Boromir) Seeing another being getting fried doesn't bother you much. But if you've ever seen a war movie like Saving Private Ryan it just disturbs you to see your own species getting ripped up. If you notice it shows alot of Elves getting killed in Helms Deep but none of the Eorlings. Anyhow, I'm just trying to explain it from my point of view.

I can't beleive they are not including the scouring of the shire! Well, actually I can, if they cut out Bombadil, but STILL! That suxxors! Ah, well. I'll just have to flush my self down the toilet fueled by my own woe...

Anyhow, uh, I'm pretty excited to see RotK.

BTW, who has read the lotd series? I have.

Yes I'm one of the few people in my area who actually read the books before seeing the film and this was obvious after I saw FotR, I mean so many poeple were complaining that it didn't have an ending...

I love the LoTR movies. I am really looking forward to the 3rd movie, and what makes it better for me is that I don't have a dang clue what to expect. (I have never read the books before...) Maybe it isn't to much better... but... meh. (So... in otherwords I enjoyed the first movie without reading the book. And I figured that ending to be pretty dang good... even if it did seem kind of awkward at first. >_o)

Rated R just because of that? Lol... I suppose anything is possible. I mean... I know you said it was just a rumor, but rumors can sometimes be true. Well, no matter... I'll still get to watch it anyways. >_>

I agree! This is the best movie ever! I never seen the second movie, but I watch the first ALL the time. Everyday I'm stressed, or energetic, or just can't find anything else that will solve my problem I watch Lord Of The Rings :).

They better play the way the ring was destroyed the right way. I don't wanna see Frodo just throw it in. Gollum better be the one.

Gaming Master2k EDIT: I got rid of a lot of dots because noone wants the page filled up with dots.

Professor X
26th September 2003, 02:23 AM
Yeah I want to see the original way too. Dang it! Forget the spoilers dots! If you don't want spoilers don't read further! Anyway, it might be kinda sick to watch Frodo's finger and the ring, and Gollum fall a few thousand feet into a lava pit. Then again, the finger part will really on be sick! Who cares there! give me LOTR, and I don't care!

Hakey Wake
26th September 2003, 02:07 PM
What i'm worried about is that after the ring is destroyed then the film will just end right there....it seems a but abrupt to me...

BlueBreegull
26th September 2003, 08:34 PM
Well, (spoiler --------->) they might show Aragorn and Arwen getting married and such. Right? I hope.

Hakey Wake
28th September 2003, 03:29 PM
Well there is definitely a new part where Aragorn fights Sauron for those of you who are interested....

Professor X
28th September 2003, 03:57 PM
Aragorn fighting Sauron? How corny could that get????? But still I'd really like to see the part when Sam and Frodo go back to The Shire. And if you remember the ending in the book it ended with Frodo sailing off to Valinor and Sam going back to live the rest of his life in the shire. I think that would be the perfect ending with Frodo and Sam looking at eachother as Frodo's ship sails off into the "great beyond."

There's no way that the film would end right after the ring is destroyed. They still have to show that Frodo and Sam make it out of the mountain, the battle fought in front of the Black Gate is won, and they pretty much HAVE to show that scene in the shire, because how else will we know that Saruman is defeated. I could go on and on with the reasons, so much happens after the ring is destroyed it just couldn't end there. I really want to see Arwen and Aragorn get married, because then it'll wrap up Aragorn's story.

Hakey Wake
28th September 2003, 08:47 PM
If you want to know how Saruman meets his sticky demise I'll tell you....I assure you that the Scouring of the Shire is NOT in the film, so Saruman becomes obsolete and in effect can be killed off in any way the director wants...

Not sure about what's going to happen with the whole Grey Haven business though. :)

There's always a chance they are keeping the Shire part for the Extended DVD edition. It would be a good addition.

Hopefully, but I don't see how the could do the Scouring without 'Sharky'. ;)

BlueBreegull

...They could do it if they don't kill of Saruman in the movie. He could just 'slip away'. If so, they could do the scouring properly in the extra.

But they DO kill off Saruman in the movie.....unless Ian Mckellan saying 'He comes to a sticky end' doesn't refer to his death...:)
