View Full Version : RWPMT II (Smaller, Sweeter, and Revamped)

I know "sweeter" isn't a word, but bare with me here.
I decided to redo the RWP Member Tournament now that it has been awhile. The catch? Instead of 64 members being in it there will only be 32. That means DRASTIC reductions, and large member cuts.
The following 22 members are DEFINITELY in the tournament.
Andre
Banjo’s Banjo
Banjo-Fella
Cyberen
Dragon Kazooie
Icy Guy
Gaming Master2k
Gold Jinjo
Golden Jiggy
Gruntling
Hakey Wake
Ice Mario
Kaz da Breegull
MewChan
Minjo
P.o.t.O
R Hunter

SubDrag
TootyILoveYou

ITT, discuss the upcoming tournament. In the meantime, PM me with suggestions to fill the remaining 10 slots. They can be anyone from the RWP history. Some obvious members were left out at random, so don't hesitate to suggest the apparent ones.
As before, I abstain.

I'm....I'm...I'm accepted. Wow. I'll PM you some suggestions.
Oh, and this is prolly gonna be a well-thought out and organized tournament. With brackets (maybe). Does anyone have a bracket software proggie anymore?

Let me check. Maybe for the tail-end.
The RWPMTII died on the first of September, 2005.
I joined October 8, 2005.
The topic wouldn't have been on the pages by then, I'm guessing.
That bracket site is awesome. I always needed one of those.

Well, I was in the last one, but, seeing as though I'm not at the start of this one, I guess I'll be waiting to see if anyone votes to put me up there.
In the meanwhile.... I believe any suggestions I could throw up are already up there.... :p

I have created a basic idea for a bracket. This might not be used, but whatever. IT sucks, as the names aren't complete yet.
Well, here it is (http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=142524&tclass=)
Grey Jinjo
12th February 2006, 11:50 PM
The brackets are typically randomized so that no one can go "You put me against Gold Jinjo how unfair :(!!!". However, I've been known to rig a matchup or two ::coughIceMariovsTootyILoveYoucough:: ;).

I just realized that, even if I somehow, magically, I make it into the tournament *looks at Grey :p* I'll be crushed, no matter where I am put. Unless its against another N/A, but I can also be beaten there too.
It'll still be nice to know I actually got into the tournament. :)

I know "sweeter" isn't a word
It is too! :p Sweeter is an inflected form of sweet along with sweetest as the more and most variations respectively.
I can posolutely say that it defitively is a wordamathing.
Edit: Oh wait... I was recently informed that this topic was actually about a tournament and not the word sweeter. In that case, I should say, "Good luck to all participants, and fight to the death!" I just need you all to sign these forms that bequeath any and all valuables left behind to me. ...for insurance purposes...
Thank you, and have a nice day.

6th March 2006, 11:55 PM
Icy Guy (20) vs Subdrag (5)
At his prime Subdrag was a fierce competitor. In the first tournament he came but one match away from securing his entire division. However, his absence has worn away the merit of his name leaving Icy Guy open for a widespread victory.
Gaming Master2k (20) vs DevilBottles (5)
These two actually began the competition in close combat. Unfortunately, DevilBottle’s strength began to peter off, and GM2K came out with an unchallenged lead.
Gruntling (22) vs Roystein (3)
This match may come as a surprise to some – not because of the victor, but rather the score. Roystein has always done well throughout these contests and normally comes out with a large amount of votes despite his long period of absence. Perhaps this absence has finally extended too far, and his name is finally beginning to fade from the RWP history books.
John (24) vs RareBK (1)
John has earned the largest spread of round one and managed to be the only member close to a shutout. Will this force push him through his next match or will Gruntling reveal his contest power to be fodder? Only round two can tell.
Cyberen (3) vs Upsilon (22)
To me these two competitors appeared a lot closer in strength than the votes reflect. Upsilon proved my assumptions wrong and came away with a near clean sweep.
Gold Jinjo (16) vs P.o.t.O (9)
This power match may have occurred a little earlier in the tournament than it was destined for. Both members serve high rankings within the community and are the material that semifinalists are created from. Only one member can proceed forward at this point though, and Gold Jinjo has been selected to be that member.
Mandy (14) vs Dragon Kazooie (11)
Despite her just recent arrival, Mandy has become a fan-favorite among the community. Although she didn’t obliterate her opponent, her victory alone proves that she has become well liked and respected around the forums.
hatrickpatrick (7) vs Ice Mario (18)
The father of the RWP has come through with his usual strong performance. No other hacker’s BK/BT accomplishments have been able to creep out of the shadows of Ice’s astonishing findings.
repobanjo (17) vs Minjo (8)
Quite a strange match. At the beginning, Minjo came off with a staggering lead. In fact, he was so far ahead of repobanjo that I had complete confidence that he would win. Eventually the votes for Minjo stopped coming in completely and suddenly. Repo sneaked back up, took the lead, and then widened his spread in the strangest of match results I’ve witnessed thus far.
dmoss (9) vs xxx (16)
Both are nice members that come to the forum with positive attitudes and try to cheer up the forum with their charm. Sadly, only one member could progress to the second round.
Banjo’s Banjo (19) vs Blue Breegull (6)
BB vs BB. Not much can be said for this round except the minor point that acronyms would have made vote casting absolutely dreadful.
lamentofgrunty (5) vs TootyILoveYou (20)
To lose a popularity contest against TootyILoveYou you have to be pretty bad, and lamentofgrunty truly was that bad.
Banjo-Fella (12) vs Hakey Wake (13)
A nail-bitingly close match. These two shot the lead back and forth rapidly, never leaving a moment for a clear victor to be determined. Lucky enough for Hakey, he had a miniscule lead of one vote by the time the polls had closed. Will such a low win hurt him in later rounds?
R Hunter (20) vs MewChan (5)
A match as predicted. R Hunter has once again shown his popularity and public dominancy within the community. MewChan’s unfortunate pairing sent her home early once again. On the bright side of things, she did considerably well against someone that is well liked among vets and newcomers alike. Had she been paired with someone that was less of a powerhouse, she more than likely would have came out as a winner.
Kaz da Breegull (16) vs Golden Jiggy (9)
A classic rematch between the two best known female members of the entire forum’s history. In their last matchup, Golden Jiggy struck through her opposition with a 15 – 6 spread. This time around the tides have shifted in Kaz’s favor and she managed to capture revenge.
vaticandrummer (13) vs Andre (12)
Quite possibly the hugest upset in ANY RWP Tournament. Whether the outcome is a result of vatican’s secret power or Andre’s luckluster performance, one thing is for sure – few could have seen this one coming. Defeating one of the forum’s OLDEST members with such a recent join date is an outstanding accomplishment.
Grey Jinjo
7th March 2006, 12:06 AM
Quite a round one. Although a lot of tough calls may be out of the way from round one, there are plenty more to come. Heck, this round may be even more of a challenge.
Voting for round 2 is now OPEN. I'd appreciate it if everyone that voted last time would vote again even if they are sour about losing ;).

Man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man, that was close and I actually thought B'Fella would have come out on top.
I'm awaiting a "Shakey Bake vs Wakey Hake" match at some point too.

Not very nice Round 2 Battles and why:
Mandy VS IceMario: Loosing or beating your wife/husband gf/bf bride/groom (God damnit whatever they are  ^_^ ) it's not nice...
I don't know about that :D I think it's really funny! TBH I never expected to win the 1st round, I'd totally forgotten who I'd be up against.

Ah, that's allright, nice to see members actually voted for me. =D

Icy Guy (12) vs Gaming Master2k (13)
Another fun-filled rematch ends in an opposing result. Is Icy Guy’s inactivity to blame for his downward momentum during this year’s tournament? Or is GM2K stacking his own reputation above and beyond?
Gruntling (14) vs John (11)
The main flip match of this round belongs to Gruntling and John. John had the lead originally and sustained it at a smooth, concentrated coast. However, at the end of the round Gruntling began to roll back and snowballed into first place.
Upsilon (12) vs Gold Jinjo (13)
Despite winning, Gold Jinjo’s anti-votes hurt him a lot during this match. Members decided to vote against him so as to unbalance the tournament and remove the predictability factor. Is such a move ethical? Does Gold Jinjo deserve to lose if he truly is the better member just for the sake of randomization? Some seem to think so. Perhaps the anti-votes Ice Mario gets for a similar reason will counter Gold’s anti-votes, producing a more fairly portrayed match next round.
Mandy (8) vs Ice Mario(17)
Battle of the “wife/husband gf/bf bride/groom (God damnit whatever they are)”. Higher stakes were placed on their results. Hopefully these stakes didn’t get taken too seriously or spun too far out of control – for Mandy’s sake anyway ;).
repobanjo (11) vs xxx (14)
Not much to say about this match. Good members, good match, good night.
Banjo’s Banjo (24) vs TootyILoveYou (1)
With luck on his side, Banjo’s Banjo plowed through his opponent in this fortunate-seeded match. Although close to what I believe would have been the only shutout of the match, one member decided to joke-vote in TootyILoveYou’s favor. As a result, this tournament will likely go the entire way without any perfect records.
Hakey Wake (13) vs R Hunter (12)
Last tournament Hakey Wake was a P.o.t.O away from facing R Hunter in the division finals. Unfortunately, we never got to see the two compete to know how it would have turned out. This year graced us with the match-up we’ve been waiting for and the result few could have earnestly predicted.
Kaz da Breegull (20) vs vaticandrummer (5)
This match was slightly more obvious than the previous one that vaticandrummer had been in. All that can be taken from this match is a consideration of the previous ones. Did Kaz’s strength surge like crazy or did Andre’s drop in to the abyss? On one hand, vaticandrummer’s loss to Kaz’s can be deemed a landslide which may make Andre appear weak for losing to him. On the other, Kaz lost by a good margin to Golden Jiggy in the first tournament and managed to smash through with a completely opposite score. So which is it? Perhaps both.

Well I was (Story ahead!) engaged in a riveting showdown of the card game "Cheat" one time in the wilderness. (That's where you primarily have to guess when another player is cheating when they lay face-down cards)
Somebody called "Five Aces!" and laid them down. Now you and I both know that five aces? Wtf? Zomg! Which is exactly the thought process I went through..I called cheat on this obvious card-fraud.
After discovering that there were five aces there and that I now was out a substantial amount of money, I realised more than ever that it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.
If you're going to play the game. You gotta learn to play it right.
Good thing I never did pay up.

I'd agree but the problem comes if there's one or more match up that's a tie.
We'd need one more vote.

Anyway, I'm just posting to let you guys know that I'll post the results tomorrow.

I've heard that I'm just a folk tale now. They say that I stand 9 feet tall and on a warm summer's day can be seen sitting on top of the Loch Ness Monster's head riding off into the sunset.
Or even more shocking: That I'm getting on AIM more than twice a year. ;)

REGULAR MATCHES
Gaming Master2k (13) vs Gruntling (12)
This round kicked off with quite a nail-biter which clearly showcases Gruntling’s popularity rise as of late. Although close to the sanctity of a moderator, his appeal fell just inches short of overtaking GM2k. Regardless, this was quite a performance from both sides.
Gold Jinjo (17) vs Ice Mario (8)
Despite a frighteningly short victory over Upsilon in the last match, Gold Jinjo has managed to pull through against an even more rigorous opponent. Such an upset is due in part to what the match had become – an anti-vote contest.
xxx (11) vs Banjo’s Banjo (14)
The results of this match are quite ironic. Xxx had just previously emerged the champion 14-11, and now loses 11-14. However, for only being a semi-frequent member this could be regarded as a phenomenal performance.
Hakey Wake (16) vs Kaz da Breegull (9)
For me, this was the most surprising match of the round, especially given the spread. I had these two slated as fairly even competitors going in to the match, but Hakey Wake proved me otherwise. It would be interesting to see how he would have faired against Andre. Hey, that’s an idea…
BONUS MATCHES
Icy Guy (12) vs John (13)
With the rise in John’s status and the fall of the Icy Empire, the results of this upset fail to strike any sense of surprise.
Kaz da Breegull (18) vs Andre (7)
This match is good and bad for Andre. On one hand, he received more votes against a stronger opponent. On the other hand, this spread in end scores is the largest of the entire round, including bonus matches.
P.o.t.O (11) vs Ice Mario (14)
Although he lost to Gold Jinjo, Ice has come back with the defeat of another high-tier member. Furthermore, this match suggests that the first round bout between Gold and P.o.t.O was fair and accurate which finally puts that theory to rest.
R Hunter (12) vs Banjo-Fella (13)
Can’t say too much here. I thought they’d be close, and they were close. Good job to both members, and congratulations to BF. This one could’ve easily gone either way, but he managed to snag the coveted one vote lead.

You know, I'm taking Minjo's side with this...when someone says, "I'll never win this round!" What I take that to mean is, "I'm going to win, but I want it to look like I won gracefuly." Whenever someone says that, I don't vote for them. Plain and simple. However, I'm not saying that just because repo said it; he's awesome. I would have said it regardless of who it was. I think Andre has the right idea, of using a positive attitude. Thank you, and good night.

Mandy (14) vs Dragon Kazooie (11)
Despite her just recent arrival, Mandy has become a fan-favorite among the community. Although she didn’t obliterate her opponent, her victory alone proves that she has become well liked and respected around the forums.

Yeah, this needs to be un-Stuck. If Grey wants to start this up again, then he can re-Stick it.
Unfortunately, I have a feeling this will go the way of G.O.A.T. - "Glitch-On A-Thon" - which was a BT glitch-finding contest thingy. Or something.
(Grey didn't like my idea for its successor - "Glitch-On A-Thon: Special Edition," probably because no one would enter a contest named "G.O.A.T.S.E." :()
dmoss
11th December 2006, 11:30 PM
G.O.A.T. sounds like an incredible contest, Icy! :p Was it here, or on another server?
Icy Guy
11th December 2006, 11:34 PM
G.O.A.T. was all over - here, BT Hive, Grey's site, etc. The idea was that people would submit BT glitches, and the winner would get something cool (I've since forgotten). This would also result in a large repository of BT glitches, which would've been a nice contribution to the community.
I may actually be the one to blame for G.O.A.T.'s failure. See, around that time, I was experimenting with HTML, and one day, I directed Grey to a page that was nothing but a cyan background, and he was BLINDIZZEZED! ;)
