When movies are made for video games, what do you think should be used?
Personally, I say it depends on the game. Halo, Metroid, Resident Evil, etc, should be movies with actors. They have human characters that are easy to replicate with real actors.
On the other hand, I think some games NEED computer generated graphics. Sonic the Hedgehog just wouldn't look right with real actors.

Like the Super Mario Bros. Movie. *shudder*. Bob-ombs with Reeboks? What about poor Yoshi?
I would say it depends.

Why not? He's sort of human looking. With enough make up it could work.

I'd have to agree... it depends. In cases like Sonic, the best live-action solution would be to dress an actor up in a Sonic costume, and that would look terrible. So CGI would do better there.
But in any case where real actors can do the job, they should.

What? This isn't good enough? (http://fursuit.timduru.org/dirlist/Other/Sonic/sonicx_launch_costume.jpg)

Good luck paying any actor to dress up in some of those crazy Final Fantasy costumes. CG for that genre is definitely the best COA. Metal Gear Solid is pretty much already classified as a movie for the most part, but if a movie of it were put together, actors would be preferred. The CG is nice, and realistic, too, but more people tune in to a movie with real people. Resident Evil used actors, and it's great. Etcetera.
But don't put actors in the games. Oh god, it would be horrible.

And what's wrong with...*remembers Enter the Matrix*..nevermind.

I think there's an old Resident Evil game that used actors, as well. I hear it really sucked.

Well, Halo, Metroid, etc. would be live action MIXED with CGI.
I mean, look at Doom. Perfect example.
If your gonna have stuff like Hedgehogs, Yoshis, etc. you need CGI or Hand Drawn for that matter. Japan did some really nice Mario and Sonic hand drawn stuff, so can we.

If you have live action, you can only do it with CGI. With animation it would look like a strange TV show. I would prefer CGI, because a hand drawn Mario Movie would suck.

Yeah, that wast the very first RE game. Bad clothes and god-awful acting.
Silly dialogues too:
Barry: Oh, what is this?
Wesker: WHOAZ What a mansion!
Jill: Oh, really?
Player: DUH!
*later in the game*
Barry: Hey take this
(gives a pack of acid grenade rounds to Jill)
Jill: What is it?
Barry: It's a weapon!!! It's very powerful!!! Specially when used in living things (duh!)
Jill:Oh, thank you Barry!
*Small detail: the grenade rounds are useless without the grenade launcher*

EDIT: but now that I think about it... At least Rebecca Chambers was cute
:D
AH, scrap that, her CGI version is much hotter anyway.

When I first read the title I would have said. Something that runs. I have Enter the Matrix and Battlefront, bothe have good graphics but I've had them for a year now and havn't played them because the wont run.
As for the question, it depends on what the movie was. FF should stick to CGI whereas resident Evil should go with avi's.

P.S. If I was able to Fully edit GoldenEye I think I would do avi's for some scenes.

the new game "black" uses real cut-scenes rather than animated ones, but then again it is an army game and not that much happens during them... come to think of it, it has probably the worst cut-scenes ever in the history of gaming, they are so boring, its just 2 people talking, and occasionally 3, although i never actually got that far in the game and i did not see more that 5... but my point remains.
