View Full Version : Jingaling's Lair?

Anybody notice that giant Jinjo head covered in moss (or whatever) below Grunty's Lair in BKGR? Obviously this is the past, so when Grunty was building her lair, she probably destroyed whatever was there before.
It's nothing of any imporance, but it's a bit interesting. Makes me wonder if Jingaling had some sort of castle, or if it was a statue or summat. If it was, too bad you couldn't go in it :p

Gives a little more to the story. It sort of hints at Jingaling (or someone similar) being the old ruler of the Isle o' Hags, but then Grunty overthrew him. btw, Grunty IS the ruler of the Isle o' Hags, just check the instruction booklet. Jingaling continued to rule Jinjos, but didn't have authority over the whole island anymore.
At least that's what I think.

Lol... that is exactly what I was thinking. I mean... my version was a tiny bit different, but over all had the same meaning that yours did. ;)
I doubt that it will ever have an explanation, but... meh. I mean... small things like that in games don't usually get explanations anyways.

I really doubt that it's Jingaling's head that the obelisk is meant to resemble, probably some other Jinjo king. But this implies that before and after Grunty's reign all across Spiral Mountain, the Jinjos reigned supreme. This was probably their homeland before Grunty and Banjo the rest came. Another thing, do you concur that this game is set 30 years about before BK? It is after all, the 70s. And BT came "Two years have passed" as a sequel in real time, so we can assume Banjo-Kazooie occurred in 1998.

Oh it's the seventies alright. There are lava lamps all over the shop. Not to mention Mumbo's "Pad" ;).
I'm guessing 20-30 years too.

And it's quite possible that for now, Jingaling is back to being ruler of Isle o' Hags since Grunty's just a disembodied skull. Still doesn't answer the question of why Grunty called Jingaling a traitor in Tooie when he wasn't even on her side to begin with. And what ever happened to the Jinjonator?

Yes...Jinjonator. That, along with a host of other things, could have been explained in BKGR but Rare didn't take full advantage of the time travel scenario. And Grunty calls Jingaling a traitor for some unkown affiliation the two had before Tooie. He seems to know a lot about BT's bosses in zombie mode. Bit of a plug for the old version of my site:

Heh, that was so corny. Leave it to Rare to make a pimp Mumbo ;)

Mumbo wanted to act more like Funky Kong.
Anyways, this hints that when the lair was taken over by Grunty, she trapped the jinjos inside (to be freed in B-K) and kicked Jinjaling out. Evidently some agreement between the two happenned before BK:GR and Jinjaling forgot to hold up his bargain, so he was booted out, but the Jinjonator was kept inside (and fossilized).

Wait, is the Jinjonator the Jinjo Oracle or not? What do you guys think? I wouldn't be surprised. And how could the Jinjos have been trapped inside the lair if you had to find them in GR (which took place before BK)?

No. The Jinjo Oracle is female; the Jinjonator was clearly male.

How could you tell that the Jinjonator was male? They both had a very masculine voice... It's not like the Jinjonator had a... well, I'm not even going to go there. :D

C'mon. Jinjonator? That's such a rip off of...Lucille Ball! Hahaha, I crack myself up. No, the Terminator. Very manly and masculine. Also running for the governorship of California. But I digress. I'm right!
