Don't worry, I'm not gonna spoil anything. Okay, so who has KHII? I got it last week, and I'm at Halloween Town, because I can't play it for 20 hours a day, like some people I know. Anyways, KHII is fun. The story is great, the gameplay is fun, and the Gummi stuff is a heck of a lot better. So go my friends! DISCUSS! :D

I have it, and I'm in love with it. I can't play it constantly either, but I have been playing it a lot, because it's keeping me extremely interested. Games this good don't come along every day. It's completely awesome... in fact, I enjoy it more than the first.
I have to agree with you about the gummi stuff... I absolutely hated flying the gummi ship in the first one, because it was way too easy and it just seemed like a waste of time. But in this game, it's actually enjoyable! Not like it's my favorite part of the game, but it's a fun little diversion. :)

I beat it a couple days ago. I couldn't stop playing, and I was sick so I had an excuse to stay in my room all day. :p I'm at like 98% journal completion now. I just need to do that poster duty thing in less than 30 seconds, finish up the tournaments, and finish the synthesis collection lists and then I'm done.
I love how cinematic they made all the boss fights with those reaction commands. I wish the game was longer though. It only took me 30 hours to get to and beat the last boss. It was quite a thrilling final battle though, even if it wasn't very difficult.
I was very satisfied in the end, and things like levelling to 99, and trying to complete the journal to 100% after finishing it has taken it up to 50 hours of playtime. I'm going to start up a second play through soon.

One of the things that I liked in KHII, is how many cutscenes there were. They add a great storyline and stuff to the game, compared to other games where you have absolutely no idea why you're where you are in the game. But there were a lot of cutscenes. :D

I just beat the game Thursday, and I have to say I loved this game! I have yet to get the secret ending. 5000 points in the third cup is too much for me to deal with. And beating Sephiroth. And getting 30 seconds on the poster game. I was at 96% with the journal when I beat the game, and I'm just starting over in Proud Mode to get it. I got the game over spring break, so I had plenty of time to play it. Being unable to stop playing until 1 AM on school nights helped too. :D
The only things I didn't like were that there was a little too much with the Disney Worlds, and the Organization members only had about 3 lines each. The main story could have had a bit more to it.

Sometimes when I try to use my forms, I get transformed into some kind of Heartless shadow Sora instead. I'm sure it's happened to other people too, so I'm just wondering, does anyone know what triggers that?

I just started to play the game; I'm still stuck with Roxas as of now. :p I would've played today, but I have a chemistry lab to do. So far, it's great! I loved seeing so many new Final Fantasy characters, especially Setzer. I can't wait to see Auron later on.

I'm pretty sure it just happens when you use drive too much. Always seems to happen when I really don't need it.

Well, I've enjoyed the game so far and can officially say that chaining the Tron-Hollow Bastion/FF-Organization XIII-1000 heartless events together was probably the best thing I've seen out of a game in a long time.
However, the thing that's pulled me in is the diversity that's captured in this game. Going from things such as Timeless River to FF stuff all the way to Tron has made this an unique experience. Sure, the gameplay isn't the most diverse, but the overall feel of the game is just amazing. It was definitely worth the money.

I love how the game just feels like an extension of the first. I felt more like I was continuing the same game rather than playing a sequel. The improvements from the first game were definitely noticable though. The game as a whole was amazing.
One of the things that I didn't like about the game though, was a couple of the characters voices. The first KH didn't have any terrible voices at all, but they changed some of the actors for KH2. The one that sticks out to me the most is Aerith... The new voice didn't really fit her at all and I wanted to mute the TV every time she spoke. Cid's voice made me cringe, but at least he only had a couple of spoken lines. There were only a couple bad ones though, and the voices didn't really take away from the greatness of the game considering that the rest were exceptional. The saddest part of it is that they play the voices in Advent Children too... Luckily those characters don't have a big part in that.
'Ansem's' voice change wasn't terrible, but hearing the different voice in the flashbacks to KH1 at the beginning was weird. The voice just didn't have the same soft mysterious quality, and it was really noticeable to me that it was completely different.
As an exception, I liked Squall/Leon's new KH2 better than the original KH voice.
I found the drives to be fairly useless... I wish that they had been implemented in a way where you actually needed to use them or at least played a bigger part. I didn't use them at all during my first playthrough until I needed to level them up to access certain tournaments after I beat the game.
Chain of Memories makes far more sense after all of the information you get about the organization in KH2... Although, all that game really did was introduce you to Namine and Axel, set up Sora losing his memories and being in that pod, and show the other Organization XIII members that didn't make it to KH2 like Larxene, Vexen, Marluxia, Zexion, and Lexaeus.

Agreed. Aerith's voice just didn't fit and seemed to cast her as a livejournal addict or something. It's almost painful to listen to at times.

XD!! Poor Aerith. I agree on her voice, though. Cid's voice is somewhat fitting for him, but I think they took it a bit far.
I love the boss battles in KHII; the fact that you have to use good timing for the Reaction commands make them a lot more enjoyable. The fight with the Hydra was great!

The fight with the Hydra was great!Except for Phil, every five seconds, yelling "GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK!!!!!!! GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK!!!!!!! GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK!!!!!!!!" Yeah. I'd have to say my favorite boss fight so far (I'm at Olympus revisit) was a tie between Double-Keyblade Roxas VS. Axel in Twilight Town, and the Sora, Donald/Goofy, and Mulan VS. Storm Rider in The Land of Dragons revisit. Those were two great bosses. :D

Ha!
My brother and I were laughing like crazy when I was going through that battle. We kept making fun of Phil... every time he'd yell that, I'd say something like "WHAT? I didn't year you the first time!"
By the way... Phil, Meg, and Pegasus are all so eager to help you out in that battle. Two of them help, but what exactly does Meg do for you? She must be the cheerleader or something.

Oh, cool. I didn't even notice her being anywhere. O_o
Anyway, but the funniest battle for me was fighting Jafar. He attacked you with flying towers, for crying out loud! And he kept saying "I WILL DESTROOOY IT AAAALL..." over and over again, in this really weird voice. I guess he was supposed to be intimidating, but for some reason the way he said it just made me want to crack up. Then he kept shouting this random phrase that sounded like "HABBAJABBALABBA!" and... well, it was hard for me to fight the battle with a straight face :D

After a lot of hard work, I just beat it a little while ago. I must say, I was very pleased with the ending! But now, like with all great games I beat for the first time... it made me both very happy and very sad to see the credits roll. (I always get emotional at the end of good games like this...) I'm very happy to see how things turned out in the end, and it was extremely satisfying to know I beat the game, but... I can't believe this wonderful experience is over!
KH2 has definitely become one of my favorite games. Sometime soon, I'll give it a replay, so that the formerly confusing parts of the storyline will make more sense to me now that I've beaten it. Then I'll be able to pick up on things I missed.
But... one thing...
What exactly happened to Maleficent and Pete? It didn't really show. I think they're still out there. I hope so. Maleficent is an evil old witch, but y'know... I like Pete. :P

Aaaahhhh, it's a great game! I'm just past the 1,000 Heartless battle right now and about to go through all the worlds again ^^ It's mostly better than the original, but I'm afraid that it's turning out to be just a little too short.
Loved the Tron and Nightmare worlds. Jack was so cool!

Oh god I'm a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts. The battle system in KH2 literally blows everything in KH1 out of the water. The first battle you have is pretty epic.
Also if you beat it like I did, getting the secret ending is a *****. You need to fill up Jiminy's Journal up to 100%, which means visiting every world, and getting almost every item in the game. Trust me, it's worth it. The secret ending practically screams Kingdom hearts 3.

Agreed, both their voices were rather annoying. Aerith had an almost robotic voice with no emotion at all...and Cid...well, although he has a short temper, he's also a rocket scientist, so I think he deserved a voice that sounds a bit more...intelligent.
I found the drives to be fairly useless... I wish that they had been implemented in a way where you actually needed to use them or at least played a bigger part. I didn't use them at all during my first playthrough until I needed to level them up to access certain tournaments after I beat the game.
I did too, until the very end when I decided to level them all up to 7, wherein they are very fun to use. As you level them, Sora himself gets to use some of the special abilities when not in drive form, such as high jump, glide, and dash. Also, at high levels, they last a very long time, so you can go insane with them.

You whiners. Everyone complained about the normal mode being far too easy, so I decided to play Proud Mode to avoid being disappointed myself. Well, now I'm getting my butt kicked left and right by the stupid Organization members. Are they impossibly hard in the normal mode as well? That stupid guy who uses wind in Beast's Castle is just INSANE! There is NOTHING COOL about getting caught in a combo that kills you in THREE HITS, leaving you no time to heal or nothin'. Mickey even came by to save me a bunch of times in that fight, and I was getting killed in seconds with HIM! Ugh, that one fight just ruined SO MUCH of the awesome that the game had built up until then. I'm not very happy with Square about that one.
Sorry, you know how it is when you're faced with stupid challenges in games. Had to scream that out.

Oh yeah, he was incredibly hard for me. I died six times in that battle, but Mickey came to rescue me every time. Though I usually tried to beat him up as much as I could with Mickey... I think that the battle would actually be a lot easier if you could play as the king for the whole time!
I have to wonder if Square intentionally made it that hard, so you'd almost HAVE to die, just so people who hadn't seen Mickey come to the rescue yet would get to.
Laor: Yeah, I haven't seen many of these movies in years, and now I suddenly have the incredible urge to watch them again. ^_^ (Especially Beauty and the Beast; it was always one of my favorites. And seeing all those characters again brought back all sorts of memories.) What I like about KH2 is, it follows the Disney plots closely and recreates memorable scenes from the films almost exactly, but in 3D form. I used to watch some of these movies over and over again as a little kid, but haven't seen them in forever... and now, memories about them are being forced to the surface.
The other day, I went through my dusty old video cabinet and checked out what videos we had. Sure enough... Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and more :D I'll probably watch one later.

I thought I would give myself a challenge by playing on Proud mode my first time through, but I was thoroughly disgusted at how easy it was. Perhaps it is my tendancy to level up periodically instead of rushing through the game, but the hard mode was not difficult at all.

How can you beat the bosses on the Pridelands Level?
Do you mean the giant creature?
Use reaction commands to your advantage. At the beginning of the battle, use them to dodge the Heartless's footsteps, and eventually deal a good attack to him. Then, run around and attack the creature's head as much as you can, while steering clear of his feet. A time will come when you can jump onto the creature's back by using reaction commands near its head or legs. Get up there and smash the shaman guy sitting on its back as much as you can. If you fall off, quickly jump back up, but it will eventually force you off the back. Keep repeating the process. Be sure to heal often with items or magic, because his attacks are powerful.
I had a little trouble with that guy too.

Big, fat spoiler ahead. :D
All of the names of those in Organization XIII (Roxas is number XIII in the Organization) are anagrams of the person's original name with an X tossed in. Even became Vexen, Barig became Xigbar, and so on. Roxas was born when Sora briefly became a Heartless in the first Kingdom Hearts game (when he "released" Kairi's heart in Hollow Bastion). Nobodies are born from the discarded body and soul of someone who has become a Heartless.

Yes, I think that concept is very clever. But one thing, what about Xehanort/Xemnas? Maybe he didn't feel the need to apply that rule to himself or something.

Xehanort took up Ansem the Wise's name, so I guess that explains why his Nobody is Xemnas. What I found neat is that "Xehanort" is an anagram of "no heart" with an X tossed in. Clever. :3

I was NOT expecting Riku to join my party, let alone fight alongside Sora in the final battle! That was an awesome surprise! .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..........................
57 is a BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD level to fight Sephiroth at. I had to fight him 11 times in a row with Oblivion in order to beat him. Worst yet, I only had no MP Haste ability and no glide!#@$@!#@#
Ironically, the first time I encountered him I faced him twice. The first time I didn't have Once more attached nor did I block with triangle, so he killed me in one hit. The second time I blocked it, then he turned around and killed me. Factoring these both in you come to a grand total of XIII fights before I won :p.
PS: You have to be retarded to take any damage during the first four life bars. I could get down the first four life bars if I was at level 1. I wonder why they made the beginning so easy, only to be followed up by the dark-sphere attack from hell.
But I digress...
I'll post my thoughts on the remainder of the game sometime soon.

This is a fun game, tho I'm missing the story completely, since I'm skipping all cutscenes (kudos for square for adding such option).
The only thing I know is that Sora is looking for Riku and Goofy and Donald are looking for Mickey, though Mickey really don't need any help at all, from what I saw in that cutscene before getting in the train to Yen Sid's tower.
So, like... if you guys wanna spoil the main parts of the plot or something... I wouldn't mind, okay? Hell, if you ever feel like spoiling the whole thing too, I'm all ears! :p

The story is complicated. If you don't know about what happened in Kingdom Hearts AND Chain of Memories, then the plot will be really confusing for you.
You see, in Kingdom Hearts, Sora lived on the Destiny Islands with his friends. But one night, dark creatures came to it to destroy it. A mysterious blade appeared to aid Sora, and he fought fiercely, but the island was still destroyed. He ended up alone in Traverse Town, where he met Donald and Goofy, along with several other characters. Leon told Sora of his destiny as the master of the Keyblade. He would be hunted and followed by creatures called Heartless, formed from the darkness in people's hearts. He must go to different worlds, sealing off the keyholes that led to the heart of the worlds, so the Heartless could not get in and destroy the worlds like what happened to his island. But as Sora went about his adventure and fulfilled his destiny, his friends Kairi and Riku were still the most important things on his mind. Eventually, he found them again, through a lot of events I won't get into here. Kairi had lost her heart, but Sora restored it. At the end of the game, Sora and friends defeated the villain Ansem and sealed off the Door to Darkness, thus sealing off the Heartless (or did they?) and preventing the destruction of the worlds. Sora was on one side of the door, and Riku and Mickey were on the other. Kairi returned to their restored home islands, but Riku and Sora were both separated- Sora in the world of the light, and Riku in the dark.
In Chain of Memories they both ended up at Castle Oblivion, which is in the twilight realm between light and dark. Castle Oblivion was run by the mysterious black-coated Organization XIII, who was holding a strange young girl named Namine there. Namine had the ability to tamper with the memories of Sora and those connected with him. As Sora and Riku both took their paths through the castle, Sora and his companions began losing their memories of all their experiences, until finally they forgot about pretty much everything except each other. Namine also put false memories about herself into Sora's heart, replacing Kairi. But after defeating the evil Organization members in control over Namine, Sora remembered Kairi again. Namine agreed to help Sora and friends regain their memories, but they would forget everything that happened in the castle, including her. And so, they went to sleep in pods. Meanwhile, Riku struggled with the darkness inside him. Eventually Mickey appeared to help him, and after many battles, they were able to leave the castle after meeting the mysterious character DiZ. Riku continued through the mysterious twilight realm.
ONE YEAR LATER....
Stuff with Roxas happens. Incredibly complicated story, so I'll just skip it for now and pick up with what happens after the game's prologue.
Sora and the gang wake up from their sleep. They don't know why they've been asleep, or where they are. The last thing they remember is what happened at the end of Kingdom Hearts. Sora knows Kairi is safe, but he wants to look for Riku. Donald and Goofy also know King Mickey is okay, but he was in the dark realm with Riku, so they want to look for him as well. So, they set off. Early on, they see Mickey, and are relieved, but he can't stay long. He tells them to get on the train, which takes them to Yen Sid's. Yen Sid tells them that the Heartless are still around, and he explains to them about the Nobodies, who are beings formed from the body and soul of a person who loses their heart. Organization XIII is a group of intelligent Nobodies that commands the other Nobodies. They have evil intentions, although WHAT their intentions are is not clear. Now, it is Sora, Donald and Goofy's mission to stop the Organization from causing havoc and destruction with the Nobodies. But the Heartless are also there to stand in their way, led by the villain Maleficent whom they defeated in the last game (but she's back), and her crony Pete. The heroes set out on another adventure, to find their friends and their destiny. Yes, yes.
Well that was long.
But yes, isn't the Skip Scene convenient? I always used it when I had to fight a boss multiple times, so I wouldn't have to see the scene over and over again.

Whoa, thanks a lot! :)
Specially for the KH1 and Chain of Memories summaries, I remember that when Sora, Goofy and Donald woke up, Jiminy said something about his journal being completely blank except for the words "Thank Namine" and yeah, I surely was confused! :D
This game is really cool, specially at the battles. Though it's all about button mashing, it's still fun! Plus you can't always rely on button mashing when playing on Proud Mode. Some strategies always pop up every once in a while.
Thanks again for the summary!
Just a question, why Roxas' story is complicated? At first I thought he and Sora were like Laguna and Squall in Final Fantasy VIII, also that girl manipulating memories is quite similar to that other girl in FF8 who had the same ability. And ya know, Roxas having Sora's memories is quite suspicious to me. Or are they the same person?
Well, probably that's just me (and square) being random.

Okay, I'll tell you about Roxas. Sora turned into a Heartless for a short time in Kingdom Hearts, but Kairi found him and saved him, turning him back into himself. However, unknown to Sora, when he became a Heartless he also created a Nobody. That Nobody is Roxas, who was reborn in Twilight Town, which is where many Nobodies are born because it is between the light and the dark. Because Sora was a Heartless for a very short time, and he got restored back to himself, Roxas had no memory of who he "really" was, and he knew little about himself. Roxas wandered for a while, and eventually discovered that he could use the Keyblade, since he was connected to Sora. The Organization found him, and got him to join them, because they could use his powers to their advantage.
When Sora went to sleep after CoM, Namine tried very hard to restore his memories. However, it was not easy, and his memories were slow to return. DiZ, who was kind of in charge of Namine's progress, figured that it might be because part of Sora was missing. That part was Roxas, who is in essence part of Sora's soul. DiZ sent Riku to retrieve Roxas.
Meanwhile, Roxas was getting fed up with the Organization, and frustrated with his own confusion about his past. He ran out on the Organization, leaving beside his best friend, Axel. (I love Axel by the way. Heheh.) Then he met Riku. After much fighting, he defeated Riku. Then Riku realized he'd have to use the power of darkness to win this battle... but it would be worth it to help his friend Sora recover. Riku and Roxas clashed a second time, and this time Riku won. He took Roxas back to DiZ.
DiZ had created a virtual Twilight Town based on data from the hearts of people in the real Twilight Town. He then sent the unconscious Roxas into this world, to live out his days, thinking he was just a normal kid with normal friends and a normal life. But slowly, Namine would help Roxas recover the memories of Sora's experiences. And when all the memories were restored, he would be reunited and combined back with Sora.
And that's where the story starts off. Roxas is beginning to remember the truth about Sora through his dreams, and the truth about his own powers through his daily experiences. But meanwhile, the Organization discovers his location, and tries to get him back. But in the end, it all comes back to him, and he becomes part of Sora again.
And THAT's why I said it was complicated ;)

Dang, Grey. :D;;
I tried fighting Seph on level 70 and he beat me to a pulp! I've leveled up a bit and gotten better abilities now, so I might try again. By the way, is that Axel in your avatar?
Also, is anyone else really curious about the backgrounds of Organization XIII members VII (Saix) to XII (Larxene)? We already know the original names and identities of the first six plus Roxas, but what about the others? Who knows. I'd especially love to know more about Axel and Demyx; those two stood out the most because they just seemed to show more emotion and feeling than the others. Axel seemed like a bad guy at first, but he was doing most of those things for Roxas. Demyx is the exact opposite of the other members, what with his silly and cheerful nature. They're pretty interesting.

:p Yes, it's Axel. He was my favorite character of Organization XIII. I tried to distort the image enough so that it wasn't obvious that it was Axel, but it was still clear enough that it could be picked out without too much trouble.
I don't know if you played CoM or not, but I did (It wasn't as bad as they say ;)) and thought they did a good job of describing MOST of the other members in their current existence. Of course, the backstories for most are lacking... but perhaps they'll crop up in KHIII? Who knows. I agree with you though, I want to know too!
Btw, what the hell was Axel's original name? Lea? Ale?

Haha, I said the EXACT same thing earlier! XD
I wonder what Axel's true name was. Lea? Ale? O_o
Oh, by the way, I have a question that's been bothering me. *sigh* Back to spoilers...
When Roxas goes into the library of the old mansion, he sees a drawing on the table. The drawing has three circles in it- one which contains the Heartless emblem, the other the Nobody emblem. The last spot is blank, and Roxas draws something in it, but we don't know what. Then the path to the computer room opens.
What I want to know is: what did he draw? This could actually be important.

Axel was my second favorite from XIII, with Demyx being at the top. :D I actually did have to squint at your avatar a bit to tell it was Axel, but his crazy hair gave it away.
On the topic of Axel's original name: I know! I can't pull anything good from it. Same with Marluxia (Ramalu? o_O) and Luxord. Larxene could've been Lerena, Dyme and Myde are possibilities for Demyx, and Sai for Saix (because I think it sounds cool XD).
J: You may be onto something with your comment about what Roxas draws. Guess we'll have to wait and see, huh? :3

Perhaps it was the third symbol for the abnormalities such as Namine? He did draw it directly after encountering her in the White Room.
Sorry J, didn't want to read the spoiler because I didn't fight the last boss and I thought you were going to spoil the game ending :p. I want a 100% journal first, and I'm currently collecting all the shards/stones/gems/crystals.

Holy crap! Has anyone else tried to fight Hunter-X, the last Gummi boss at the very end of Assault of the Dreadnought, Mission Level 3? He's crazy! My Gummi ship is very powerful, but I still didn't stand a chance against him. Next time I fight him, I'll probably put what I read over at GameFAQs to use and Drain him to death. But man! He's insanely hard to beat!

J, I think I have your answer.
The symbol is all over the guide book. It's a circle with spikes coming out of it with an X in the middle. I think it's the 'Soul Enemy' symbol, because there's Heartless (Heart), Nobodies (Body), and what happens to the soul? They'll probably put the Soul Enemies in KHIII.
