Pretty far south, you can type /warp arena (where you can see all mark's (and others) creations) and walk S-S-W until you get to +650, -800.

After tinkering around for a couple hours with redstone on single player, Ive managed to make a revealing door with pistons and a drawbridge, the first being obviously more complicated. If I knew how to, I would upload the screenshots. Soon I will be instigating them on my new house which I have yet to make. Im also curious, who else has made a piston door?

Sure have, the latest door I'm working on has 3 pistons below and 3 above. As I want a a switch on each side to open or close I need to use an XOR & a NOT gate for both switches to work properly.

You cant just use two switches, as the switch you use to open the door will be the only one which will allow you to close the door. Not much use when you go inside and have to operate the outside switch to close the doors.

Just one minor problem with the server which has been happening for some time; 'home' is not working properly.

If you are close by your home position there is no problem, however if the area has to be rendered as you were not close by then most of the time I die. I've lost 3 diamond picks and other stuff tonight warping back to home.

Its a great way to get more players to your server and have a central place for your Minecraft forum :D

It was certainly a big job. If anyone wants to have a look, its now open for inspection! Just warp to 'france'. I'm really happy how the roof worked out, although you really cant see the detail from the ground, once I get warps enabled that one of the places I want to be able to warp to. Its not possible to get up there now.

There are a couple of beds inside if anyone needs to stay the night.

Try deleting your .minecraft folder, but remember to backup you savegame & screenshot folders. Then try again.

Assuming you are using windows 7, you will find your minecraft folder at

I'll admit I have not been on the server in quite some time, though I have been meaning to.

I have just done a check up to make sure my land is still all in order and found all is as it should be.

Funny thing is, due to updates and map regeneration I lost my squid. Now however I have 3 groups of squid in various pools of water across my land. I shall try and move the group of 4 to my bath where I used to have 3. I will also modify my moat in some way to make good use of the squid that happen to be right next to the main entrance.

I did not stay long, but during my stay I also fixed up most of the wall around my house where it was rather unsafe for visitors.

What's your game username?

I'm not an OP but I've been playing for a few months and a have a few resources now. Look for myself or Catfair when your online and one us will replace your diamond.

Not much gets stolen on this server and its disappointing when things do go 'missing'.

Its a good idea to work out how you can hide your valuable resources, you need to keep your chests out of sight just as a precaution.

Let me know if want some ideas about keeping your resources safe. Once you get enough diamonds you wont want to use tools not made from diamonds. Until you run out then go back to using iron.

Hardly ever does this happen, but who ever stole it should show up on the logs. When the culprit is found they will no doubt be banned and maybe even publicly revealed.

You will be able to get your diamond back easy enough, just wait for an OP or Ice himself to replace it.

I have some warps that I always die at if I warp to them from a area that is far away. What I have been doing is warping to a known safe area which is close by the warp I really want to to go to. Then I warp to my destination.

However I think I have found a way from dying at certain warp locations.

I replaced a small section of the floor with smooth stone at one of the warps I always die at, so far it works. Still need to see if this works at my /home spot, I'll try it later.

If anyone else is having the problem, let me know if this works for you.

EDIT: It fixed one location but didnt work for /home

Random question. Do nether portals work reliably? If I put a portal in my house, go through, and come back, will I come out in my house or somewhere else?

I'll disable my portal near my old castle as its linked to Spykes. I dont go back to castle very often, and now that my farm was raided I don't need to go back to harvest the wheat. My new base at 'france' should be far enough way for another portal when I get around to building it.

The cave system is in the 'france' area, which has had a lot of activity for several weeks now. We left mushrooms as it looks so good. My mushroom farm produces more than enough mushrooms.

I had a quick look this morning, you have a couple of jumping around on the ground next to some shallow water.

Boring Trousers has a hotel/apartment thing on the other side of the RWP city. If anyone wants a room, just put a sign over your door. They come with beds and furnaces. Some of them have crafting tables, but we're working on that. Some of them are pretty friggin huge. All of them are at least the size of a decent house. There's also a rec room with a glowstone TV, a swimming pool with diving board, and a balcony with a wonderful view of the Fluttershy sprite and the ocean. Just go to spawn and follow the sentence. Enjoy living with BT. We'd like to have events or some shit eventually, but whatever.

Okay, so. I went into the nether to mine glowstone. Then a whole bunch of stuff happened that landed me far, far, far away from any visible portal. Is there a Nether warp command that can get me back to safety. I'd keep trekking but the ghosts are shooting at me from all directions, and I'd rather not lose my diamond stuff and glowstone again.

If you type in /warp spawn it will warp you to outside the city. You can also set a warp to your home / any place you need to go back to quickly by going there and typing /sethome and from then on you can warp back there quickly by typing /home. Hope I helped.

Thanks for the advice, however trying to type /warp spawn in the nether just gets you a message that you can't travel between worlds. I did use the /sethome command alllllll over my adventure in the nether whenever I was set on fire so that I could quickly grab my stuff when I came back to life. If it weren't for that I would have lost another diamond pickaxe, sword, and hundreds of glowstone dust. I still appreciate your help, though. :)

Thankfully, I got out, with the help of Mark! He gave me the coordinates of the city portal, and I was able to work my way back. Took me a while, I wandered into a chunk of the nether where apparently no one had set foot.


Also, **** those flying ghosts that shoot at you relentlessly. :P

Server has a problem again.

Its not saving your inventory or your location. Before logging off make sure you put what you are carrying into a chest, as you will lose any new stuff you pick up.

We just have to wait until Ice Mario is available to fix the problem.

That would be the best option if we dont have to lose our creations. Move a very long way from spawn and set a new spawn so we get all the new terrain/features etc. I certainly dont want lose my creations if possible, as I've been doing a lot of work lately.

Warp to 'france' and have a look at my latest large scale building, then there is the new very long railway system to another remote section of the map where Kelvin & I have our seperate building projects. Kelvins place is the one with the big hole in the wall (slight accident with a TNT cannon). The rail cart line at 'france' has a new, fully working automated cart dispenser system we have been working on for a few days. Havent even seem one like it on youtube.

The move would have to be a long way, I think there is an admin fly mode that would help move to a new area. However I have been traveling in one direction for a long time, I keep setting a warp so I can return to where I left off. I know I can easily reach un-explored areas.

Just loaded up my 1.7.3 save on 1.8 pre-release and was able to get a swamp to generate so it definitely doesn't need a reset (yet anyway). The difficulty will be finding a new chunk and moving spawn to it.

Also the disapearing/re-apearing blocks, and large sections of the world just don't render.

However on a positive note...I've started on a public rail system, putting in two tracks (each direction, no chance of running into someone else), the station is most likely going to be outside the city in front of the RARE logo. The station will be built under that water, and will have a cart dispenser that Kelvin and I have been working on for some time. We believe we finally have a reliable system, push the button to call a cart, when you reach the destination the cart disappears into another dispenser, ready to be called up when you want to return. Each dispenser will store several carts.

Its costing a lot of iron & gold to build, however any donations of glass (and a lot is required) you could drop it off in the chest in front of the RARE logo, or place it yourself along the track. The goal is to have it mostly encased in glass to stop mobs and monsters from getting on the tracks. Any suggestions about the rail cart line are welcome.

I suggest just updating the current server, but don't create a new map. I suggest also trying to keep things as simple as possible, with just logs and OP stuff.

Mainly though, I highly suggest that we prepare to have a complete server reset come November 11. An in game text reminder would be good to let any new people know.
(11/11/11 is when MineCraft comes out of beta.)

So long as we have 2 months to pre-grieve and such, it should make the transition much easier on us all.

It is is compatible, you just need to venture out into un-explored areas for the new features. And if the official release version is just like another upgrade, I see no reason to reset the world. Just start another city or claim your own island/continent/desert island/tree as your own. However, I don't pay the hosting bill, so its up to Ice to decide what happens in the future. So I will continue to build and expand my little empire, and if I have to start all over again I will.

Why worry about possibly losing your work here and doing nothing for another 2 months, if the server does not get reset then you will have achieved nothing sitting around for two months waiting a POSSIBLE reset.

Unless Ice says otherwise, or Notch says the update will not be compatible then I'll just keep building away.

No this was recent, there was redstone missing. Anyone is welcome to play with whatever I create, else I wouldn't give out warps for people to get there. Accidents do happen, but it wouldn't hurt for someone to leave a sign if they don't know how to repair something.

You will have to go back and have a look what else is new in the area, look around and you will be findto another new project area under construction where GM2K and I were experimenting with tnt cannons, well he was experimenting with the cannon, while I was rebuilding one of my towers.

Public rail system is now operational, the station is just outside of the city gates in front of the RARE logo.

Once you arrive at the destination, look for the Scenic Mine Cart ride (still needs an automated station), it just go's in a big loop to look at my first big building project.

Warp to 'France' to take the longest rail line on the server to another project area currently being worked on. Once you arrive look across at Kelvin's castle on the next mountain, and ask him about the huge hole in the wall.:D

(Note: currently no line connects Spawn to France, its about 2500m and would take a huge amount of resources).

Still needs some minor work at the various stations, but it is all working. Let me know if you try it out, always looking for suggestions.

If you would like a rail line to your house connected up to the network then talk to GM2K or myself and we will see if its possible, there is already small branch line connecting Catherine's house on the City (spawn) line.

I believe one of the reasons the server hasn't been updated yet is because Ice wants to have spawn near regions that will be able to generate the new biomes. Our current map has been explored so much that it would take ages to find a new biome. He was thinking of ways of keeping current chunks so that buildings stay while moving them to new areas.

I'm guessing the delay now is because 1.9 should be close where we'll probably need to do the same thing.

We don't want to reset the world now, again in a couple of weeks and then again in a month.

The important thing to remember when the server is updated to 1.9, DONT KILL the cows, sheep & pigs (not sure about the chickens), as they dont respawn. I've been experimenting in single player and managed to fence in a couple of sheep, now I have lots of sheep to shear. Havent managed to capture a couple of cows yet.

No need, hold some wheat in your hand, and the animals follow you. Just fence them in to breed your own supply of food.

Just noticed that the Rail system Kelvin and I put in to spawn is out of action at the moment, it appears that all of the rail carts have disappeared. Possibly it happened when the server was corrupted and when the inventory bug returned. At at least 20 mine carts have disappeared, if anyone could dontate a cart or two for the public rain line it would be appreciated.

They can be dropped off in the chest at the rail station near spawn (in front of the RARE logo) and I'll put them back in the various cart dispensers.

As you know the server has been off line for a couple of days, could be for best at the moment as the official release of the game is getting very close and the updates are coming quickly and there will always be a delay for bukkit to support the latest version.

Now seems like a good time to play 1.9 single player to test out the new features, work out some new farming techniques with animals that dont de-spawn.

The onl updates that are coming out are prereleases that are not mandatory client updates, meaning that we could all stay on the normal 1.8.1 and the server would be functional until the middle of November.

Was talking to the mod, says the i.p. was bought by him 2 days ago as the hosting bill for RWP was supposedly not paid. So connecting to the RWP domain name and you end up on this server which is only been running 2 days (1.8.1). But I was invited to stay and they all seemed very friendly.

Its been online two days, one of them has built a great ugly obsidian box for a house, and is running around with a diamond shovel. I'd rather not play if the ops just give themselves stuff or give at random to others. I'd rather mine to get what I want, no point playing otherwise. Might as well just play creative mode.

Sounds like an issue has happened due to late payment.

When payment is not made by the deadline, some hosting companies will reserve the IP and data for a while (until 2nd deadline). Seems however, that this hosting company has reached the 2nd deadline and thus the IP and data was made re-purchasable.

Normally all data is deleted and the server reset, but for some reason the data was left on the server during transference to the new owners.

Chances are that Ice still has a backup copy of our server data, so not to fear.
So many changes will no doubt mean a new map from scratch anyway (11/11/11).

Ice Mario will let us know as soon as he has all the details.

In the meanwhile, whether you join these 2 non-RWP peoples server is up to you. Note that anything you do on the server while it is not under the governance of the RWP will have no direct impact on the real RWP MC server.
