I made this tutorial so that you can downgrade your client quick and easily. This is especially useful when Minecraft is updated, so that you can play on the server until that is updated.

To downgrade, you first need to locate your Minecraft data folder.

Windows 7:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\

You then should backup the bin folder. Rename it to bin_b, or anything similar.

Download one of the zip files below, and extract the folder to the Minecraft data folder. Rename it to bin.

Once this is done, you then need to open up the bin backup folder, and copy the file named 'version'.

Copy this across to the bin file you extracted. Click yes to overwrite the one already there.

Please note, you will still need a Minecraft account that has purchased the game, to login with.
These are NOT cracked files.

List of Minecraft clients I have available:

Alpha 1.2.6 (http://www.mediafire.com/?t4x8yqa1icxxl8d)

Beta 12 (http://www.mediafire.com/?y8426h87k59x6k7)

Beta 13 (With debug item code) (http://www.mediafire.com/?u95nijs3ja5y57u)

Beta 13_01 (Fix to remove debug item code) (http://www.mediafire.com/?89r4660dad7jid2)

Beta 14 (http://www.mediafire.com/?4hqjhr242r224qp)

Beta 14_01 (http://www.mediafire.com/?tnlr4qdh4ubjvf8)

Beta 15 (http://www.mediafire.com/?fza6iq42j2ce468)

Beta 15_01 (http://www.mediafire.com/?dwe9ucldkuifd1c)

If you have any other clients not already posted here, I'd be grateful if you could upload them somewhere for me to include here.
I would also like to know the locations of the Minecraft data folder on other OS', like Windows XP.

Erm... one problem with this:

It is actually stated as a term and condition (and in the copyright), that we are not allowed to re-distribute.

If you are found going against the copyright, Mojang could suspend your account...

The bin files itself, won't let someone run the game. If I distributed the actual entire contents of Minecraft, then I would be suspended.

I suppose it is only part of the full program.

Also worth mentioning is the Force Update button, for upgrading again and incase of problems.

If you can't be bothered doing all this manually, there's a program which will patch your minecraft.jar to an earlier version: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/106402-tool-cyborgs-tools-mcnostalgia/

I'm pretty sure I brought the thread back to life by bumping it ;)

Anyway, I don't see any real reason to do this unless you're desperate for the MC server.
