Well, I was flipping through the June issue of Nintendo Power and I came across the Point-Counterpoint section, where basically 2 editors debate a certain topic. This time its was about which was the best of the 16-bit era: the Genesis or the SNES? Well reading through this got me to thinking. Which one do I think is best? Personally, I believe the SNES is. It has better games, a point that was brought up by Andy (one of the NP editors). The other editor, (I forgot his name, I believe his name was Chris) said the Genesis had some classic games too, such as Golden Axe, Strider, Sonic, etc. I agree with the Sonic part, but I have played Golden Axe before, and it wasn't that great. He also said that the Genesis had faster moving games, which is great, but just because they are super-fast, doesn't mean they are good. The SNES had all the greats, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, Zelda, Mario and many more. I can't think of nearly as many games for the Genesis that were as good as those. I have played many of the games on emulators or at my uncle's house when he used to have a Genesis. They weren't really that good, IMO. What do you think on this debate? Feel free to debate each other, just remember, no flaming ;)

SNES is the BOMB! And I think the Atari Jagular should be added, because it was made during the 16-bit era.

Ah crap! It said I voted for the Genesis. I thought I chose the SNES though (can a mod or someone change this?), which in my opinion in better. It had better sound, graphics (the SNES had many more colors if I remember correctly), and I grew up playing the SNES, so I guess that has something to do with it. Plus, I love Super Mario World. It is probably my favorite video game, hands down.

Seeing as I never had a SNES, I only had a Megadrive, I had to choose that.

It had some great games as well such as Sonic, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Dynamite Heady and Micro Machines.

Sonic 2 and 3 are just brilliant games (I never had 1)
Golden Axe is fun but I don't like playing it too much.
Streets of Rage, one of the greatest games ever, it was so hard as well.
Dynamite Heady is also fun.
Micro Machines Turbo Tournament 96 was the first proper Racing game I played as far as I can remember.

Megadrive was my first console. Making that an instant win.

Yes it was, but the debate was over the SNES and the Sega Genesis. And besides, if memory serves me right, hardly no one bought the Jaquar o-O

I see your back to your old icon Vatican (I liked this one better, it suits you). I don't know if anyone changed your vote back, if they didn't then I'll just add the total in my head.

It's no contest at all for me. The SNES was and will always be the best console ever! ^_^
