Seriously, this is awesome. The first episode aired earlier tonight and it was incredible. The animation quality is spectacular and you can tell they really care about making ThunderCats relevant again. The villains are actually threatening and aren't the hammiest villains ever and the heroes have actual personalities that conflict with one another.
There seem to be two prevalent themes amongst others from the first episode. The first is racism, with the majority of cats being elitist bastards that make other species their slaves. The other is that of nature vs technology, although, without spoiling anything, this seems to be as much an internal struggle as it is an external one.
The best part, however, is that for the first time ever, Snarf isn't annoying as ****. He never talks, just makes "snarf" sounds and acts more like an animal than anything else. Frankly, this is the best way to portray him- Making him act like his old self is an awful idea and wouldn't fit the themes of this, but acting dark and edgy wouldn't be Snarf. This is the perfect middle ground.
Seriously, watch this. If you've got the time to watch My Little Pony, you have the time to watch this. Cats are cooler than ponies anyways. If I were to compare this to something else, it's a combination of The Secret of NIHM and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
