They say it's likely that the Wii is still very much unfinished, which is why all the Wii games at E3 were, in fact, running on GameCubes. They also say that's likely the reason why the games didn't look as "next-generation" as they could/should have... and that it's very possible that the final versions of these games will look a whole lot better.

I didn't really think about the graphical quality of those games until I read that. I don't think any of us have thought about it. The focus of the Wii has always been on the gameplay, which I think speaks volumes to the amount of success it's going to get. If Nintendo can pass off next-generation games on current generation hardware with, on the whole, nobody noticing... I guess there's still some hope left for us all ;)

Maybe that's their last ace up their sleeve, too. When the Wii launches, we'll see a more graphically capable system that can compete a little more fairly with the Xbox 360 and PS3... and I think that'll be far more amazing to see and be surprised with than it would have been to just expect it at E3 like we have with the other systems.

Sh!te... sorry for the run-on sentence there ;)

ya i did notice in the super smash bros. movie that the graphics are pretty much that of a gamecube's. but this news brings new hope that the game will be much more dazzling than it appeared in the movie.

I think that gives a reason why Nintendo didn't release an exact date or price at E3. Hmm, hopefully Nintendo will host Spaceworld this year so we can see the final product earlier.

Y'know, as I'm thinking about how Nintendo managed to get a bunch of GameCubes to recognize Wii remotes as well as capture motion... I'm wondering if they rigged up specialized hardware to plug into each GameCube's underneath expansion port -- after all, who says those ports have to have commercial purposes? :D

What any of us wouldn't give to get our hands on that, if that's what they did ;)

Well the Wii-mote was originally a GCN peripheral..

I'm not expecting a leap in power though, Nintendo as crazy as they can be sometimes, wouldn't keep that under the curtain at the biggest gaming event of the year.

Quite frankly, anybody who thinks the Wii software will be on the same level as that of the PS360 needs to...well...think otherwise I guess. :p

Well, that's good news. I was a bit dissapointed with the graphics so hopefully they will be better on the Wii since they were using a GCN.

I've seen the pictures of it...
It was only the Zelda game that had a picture...
And it's all pure speculation...
But that's what E3 is supposed to do!
It may just be that they only made so many Wii consoles for this year that they came up one short..
Maybe they just used the GCN case and crammed in the Wii tech...
ya know what I mean...
It could be that they made a GCN Wiimote and made a special version of GCNWii Zelda game...
ya know...
But whatever...
As long as the Wii does what it appears to do...
I'm sold!

Oh, indeed, it will fall short a little bit... but I just remember Nintendo saying last year that there would be no noticable difference. Which made sense at the time, since Microsoft and Sony released raw specs that can never be realistically accomplished.

Meh :)

exactly. and plus once u get up around past 150-200 polygons per second with anything.. its hard to make it anymore realistic looking. so there really shouldnt be to much difference between a Wii, PS3, or 360

You will saya wowa!*

* You will say wow.

Thought none of the games presented really had that effect me. (Graphic wise I mean)

Infact not much of the PS360 offerings have done that either to be truthful... o-O

Does this mean that the Wii will not be released in America untill 2007?

Should be everywhere by the end of 2006.

Which in Nintendoland roughly translates to Japan in 2004, America 2006 and Europe 200X.

Nintendo said it will be released no later than the American Thanksgiving in November. I imagine we can take their word for it, since it sounds both reasonable and likely :)

And that doesn't necessarily mean it'll come out in November, either. Septemeber and October are good candidates.
