I've got a PC running on Vista right now. Very naggy, very slow, and it's gotten the blue screen more times than I can count. I'm very very tempted to download the preview for Windows 8 on it and see if it helps.

Will it erase everything if I do run it?
And the PC was bought sometime in 06-07, a Dell inspiron. Will be able to handle 8?

I'm pretty sure downloading WIndows 8 doesn't overwrite anything, but I can't be sure. I wouldn't bother with it, though. I hear it's pretty damn bad too, just get Windows 7. It's like Vista, but good.

I haven't downloaded the developer preview, but I'm guessing you'll have to do a clean install.
