View Full Version : Dumb and Dumber 2?

EDIT: There's actually enough evidence to prove that this movie was in some development and they were getting it together so I take back what I said about it being an April Fool's joke. I think its real. So as you read just skip over all the crap I said about it potentially being fake because its probably not fake, which is cool.

So it was announced today that they were officially going to make Dumb and Dumber 2. Not only are they making a sequel, but they have the same directors, who are also the writers (who were not responsible for the prequel by the way), as well as Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey back for Harry and Lloyd.

I was a huge fan of the first one and till this day its one of my favorite movies. However, I remember in the past that Carrey said he would never want to do a sequel to that movie. Besides, he's definitely a more family-oriented actor as of late. So as of this moment, I'm thinking this is a possible late April Fool's joke with the intention of making it a more believable joke by having it the day after the 1st. Like I said, I can't see Carrey just jumping on this movie, especially the way they say he did.

There's the article and according to it Carrey was like "We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched Dumb and Dumber and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'" That just doesn't seem believable at the moment. I'll have to dig around for it but I swear I thought he said he'd never do a sequel so for him to be like "we have to do it" all of a sudden is surprising. We'll see in time.

Also, they're going to have their hands full because its one of those things where they have a lot to live up to. There's a big cult following to the movie and it has to be something like 15 years now so time has had its impact on it. Like most of these situations, there will be those fans who will never ever be happy even if it blows the original out of the water but for the fans that see potential, like me, hopefully they pull it off....if this is a real thing.

Sound off, is this a real thing? And if so, what do you think?

EDIT: Btw, the toilet scene is probably one of the least funny parts in the entire movie. Its incredibly overrated and it sucks. It's also too widely used as the example of hilarity to define the movie, just like IGN foolishly did in the posted article. There's so many more things that are hilarious. I really have no idea why people find it remotely funny.

I had to get that out.

...Jim Carrey finally decided to pull that stick out of his ass and make more sequels? Great! I for one would be down with another sequel to The Mask with him and Cameron Diaz. But Dumb & Dumber 2 sounds like a great idea too, though. I don't think he's as family rated as you say, though. Yes Man and I Love you, Phillip Morris were both pretty adult... or so I seem to remember.

This is the best news I've heard today. Dumb and Dumber is also one of my favorite movies. I think it's one of the most quotable movies ever. The fact that they're getting Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back is excellent news.

Eh, ya now that I think of it you're right, he is a pretty varied actor as of late.

If any movie he was in was going to get a sequel, I'm happy its this one. I am also very happy that this movie is receiving a lot of support as well. I would have also liked to see a sequel to The Mask with Carrey and Diaz but unfortunately I think that one is out after the sequel they already did. I didn't see it but I heard absolutely terrible things. Luckily they did a separate-studio prequel to Dumb and Dumber, which I also heard was horrible, or there definitely wouldn't have been an option for a sequel with Carrey and Daniels.

Son of the Mask wasn't awful... for a kids' movie. It's rated PG instead of PG-13 and the humor is a lot more conventional (at times juvenile) than that in the original. I doubt you'd enjoy it, but it was certainly not the harbinger of the apocalypse like some people said, especially fans of the original comics.

I think that was New Line too... eh. It wasn't that bad either. Certainly better than Son of the Mask. The guy who played Lloyd in particular was spectacular at emulating Carrey's voice and mannerisms.
