Too bad I'm not into MMO's anymore since they cost money over time to play and I already pay money for Xbox Live, and I think that's enough.
If I was still into MMO's, I'd be really excited for this.

How the **** are they going to use TES gameplay in an MMO?

They aren't, I would bet. It will be gameplay similar to WoW.

Oh wow. This is something that I truly cannot wait for. If Bethesda can make an MMO as good as they can make a single player game... I'll pay with blood to play this.

Sucks that not only would I never pay for a subscription to an MMO ever due to me quickly becoming bored with them, but the fact that I doubt my laptop could even handle this. I guess I'll just wait for Elder Scrolls VI.

I'm sending all my money to the Nigerian Daedric Princes but I'm not getting any game yet :(

Did
Did you just call Dota2 an mmo
...Did you really just call Doom 4 an mmo. Did you really just say Bethesda had anything to do with Doom.
My brain.

Think the Old Republic, with elder scrolls level ups and randomly generated horses that spawn in the sky

Didn't you know? ID became part of Zenimax/Bethesda in like, 2009.

Bethesda is DOOM4 publisher. Recently Bethesda said that DOOM4 isn't cancelled.

Ah. My mistake.
Dota2 still isn't an MMO though.

It would need to be free to play if it wants to compete with Guild Wars 2 and WoW.

What about Tera? I've heard good things about it, and it isn't a straight up WoW clone so it doesn't have out-WoW WoW in order to stand out like most other modern MMOs.
I'm not sure what to expect from TES Online. I wouldn't be surprised if it does turn out to be another cookie-cutter WoW, but I also have expect them to try to bring in the action style combat like in the main series. Either way they'd have to step up their game, as I find both systems to be rather boring.

It'll be first person, hopefully. I can imagine each province released in an expansion. I wonder where they'll start.
Lol, imagine if it had been called World of Tamriel.
Edit: Teaser trailer out. Jesus this is quick.

-Third person perspective
-The game uses a hotbar to activate skills like other traditional MMOs
-Visually it looks like other Hero Engine MMOs like SWTOR
-The general art style is kind of like RIFT or Everquest 2
-"It needs to be comfortable for people who are coming in from a typical massively multiplayer game that has the same control mechanisms, but it also has to appeal to Skyrim players."
-The combat model will not be real time due to latency

Confirmed WoW clone. At least I know not to get my hopes up.

I might give it a shot just because I really like exploring Nirn and stuff, but because it really does look very WoW I probably won't subscribe or anything. Oh well. It's not like this is replacing VI so no skin of my nose.

I still wonder what it would be like if Bethesda released a TES game taking place on Akavir. Considering how much the world of TES changed during the 200 years in between Oblivion and Skyrim, they could probably find an explanation, and I think it's time we saw a bit more than just Tamriel every game.
Ah well, maybe they will release a "Mysterious Akavir" expansion for this MMO.

Not even first person. What a piece of shit. I guess it's to be expected with Bethesda's lowered standards in games, which we saw with Skyrim.

Morrowind is a better example of a story. And like Greatman said, if you're saying the main quest for Skyrim was bad, it really wasn't. They were just going for a different theme, Oblivion was way too generic in so many ways.

You want to complain about Skyrim? Let's complain about Skyrim.
The overworld is still just miles of nothing to add time between towns and dungeons
Level scaling ruins balance and defeats the purpose of experience leveling
Harm spells become useless pretty quickly as enemy mages will out-scale you by three or four times the amount of magicka and health you have. Even at max rank in harm and all level-ups spent on magicka, you can't kill a single mage before you run out
Radial AI has not, does not, and will not ever work
There isn't a single interesting NPC outside of the main quest. Heck, there isn't one in it either
Random fetch quests =/= unlimited content. Stop telling lies, Tim
You can master every skill in the game with a single character. There is no reason create another one other than to see that one quest option you didn't take. Chances are it isn't all that different anyways
Terrible console style interface
Do I even need to mention the bugs?
On the bright side, the modders do a great job fixing Bethesda's numerous shortcomings. Unfortunately that will not be the case for the MMO. It will be just another WoW reskin that dies months after it's release just like every other WoW reskin before it. Yet single player RPG developers will still try to make it work somehow.

So true. Even if some quests have another option or another path to take, they all end up at the same ending.
In the DB quests, you can kill Cicero. You still end up the way it is with him alive or not.

you mean Todd, as in Todd Howard? also known as Toddler. honestly if they didn't let him speak in public or do interviews I would appreciate Bethesda a lot more.
The Colonel
6th May 2012, 07:30 PM
All I know about Todd is that when he discussed the "Bucket on head" bug with the programmers, he wouldn't let them fix it because they thought it was a programming flaw, while he just thought it was cool to have.

None of those have stopped myself and countless others from enjoying the game and having fun, your argument is invalid.

Except no one cares. Everyone who likes the game either a) know about the problems and don't care or b) haven't noticed the problems and don't care. Everyone who doesn't like the game... well, they can go have a big circlejerk about how much they don't like it and how much better than the rest of us that makes them.
