I'm actually kind of interested in what direction Neversoft of all people will take the franchise. These guys made Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock. This could be really, really cool. Thoughts?

Aren't there enough Call of Duty games? They need even TWO companies to make them?
Adam

There are already two companies making them: Treyarch and Infinity Ward. This will be the third.

Let's hope they do something original with the series. Black Ops 2 already has appeal with the futuristic turn they took, but if Neversoft is just going to make another copy of a modern-day shooter, I won't be buying it.
Innovate or bust, Neversoft.

Soon every developer will have their own Call of Duty, on the Call of Duty Box, which will be the universal game system that every Call of Duty ever made will be on, and in every household.
Our lives will be calls of duty.

Hmm... It'll be cool to see where they take Call of Duty from here. What FPS's have they done in the past? Mainly recently.

It's strange Microsoft haven't asked Rare yet to make a Call of Duty game.

...
Microsoft doesn't own Call of Duty. Activision does.

The closest thing to an FPS that Neversoft has ever done is Gun. This is a brand new experience for them.

Remember when Call of Duty use to be one franchise, and not 3?
I mean seriously, this is getting silly.

I can imagine they'll probably do their own thing and slap the COD brand name on it.

It's Neversoft. I'd honestly be surprised if they didn't.

Neversoft made guitar hero 3 and onward, not just warriors of rock. They took that franchise and made it HUGE; only to have kotick skull**** the industry with it and kill it. I have/had a bunch of mates who work there, and honestly they're looking for level designers if any of you guys are interested/have experience.

You can't use the term "mate" if you're not from England or Australia.

Call of Duty, historic warfare. Set during the American revolution, you only get two guns, single shot, and reloading takes a couple of minutes. It'll be a smash hit!

I'd play that, but it might get frustrating when Connor Kenway kills you.

I don't see how MORE COD can be a good thing really. 1 a year is already enough.
Could the FPS Rare is working on be a COD game too. F*** it let's all make COD, scrap all other games.
The futures shite, the futures COD.

Who ever said there will be more than one a year? This will probably be the one that gets released next year, later in the year, around the time every COD game gets released.

If they are taking over from Infinity Ward and the Modern Warfare franchise is over, then fair enough, there won't be more COD than normal. But i wasn't aware of this.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're saying. Did you mean that you thought that Neversoft was taking over Infinity Ward's position? Because I'm sure that's not happening. Neversoft is making their own COD game, not branching off of someone else's.

Then than would mean there will be more than 1 game per year. Treyarch do one year, infinity ward do the next. Then if Neversoft are joining the mix too...

Then it would give each developer 3 years to make a game instead of 2.

They shouldn't have the "One CoD game each year" deadline in the first goddamn place.

Yeah. Hopefully with 3 years in between each developers game, one of them will make a new engine for the franchise.

That's been the recent cycle, sure, but that doesn't mean that Infinity Ward won't take a break next year.

Maybe they should call it the "Originality" Engine.

Knowing Neversoft they will probably do something very neat, innovative and fun that everyone will like.
And then they'll do the same thing five more times and everyone will get sick of it.

You do realize that MW2 to MW3 was the only two games to share an engine, right? And that Black Ops to Black Ops 2 will have a new engine?
Edit: Welder pretty much hit the nail on the head. At least we can enjoy it for the first one or two games they put out.
