I'm getting an Xbox for Christmas, amnd I have a few questions.

How much/month does Xbox live cost?

Can all games be saved on the Xbox harddrive? If not, which games cannot?

The Live Kit you buy (which costs around $50) includes a full year of service (you still have to pay extra monthly fees for things like MMORPGs and PSO though). I'm not sure about how much they will charge after the year runs out. Oh, and all games can be saved on the hard drive.

Edit: Hmmm scratch the $50 for Xbox Live part... It went up. I just looked it up in case it changed from when I last saw it. Apparently, the Xbox live kit now costs $69 and includes a full version of Mech-Assault... Also there seems to be $50 12-month subscription cards out now for renewing your subscription.

Well that question's redundant... :p

Yes, all games save on the hard drive... otherwise, that defeats the purpose of having a hard drive in the console. And maybe my eyes deceive me or summat, but I don't see memory card slots on the XBox ;)

They are on the controllers like the N64. It's only useful for transferring saves and backups for games though.

Yeah, I know... if only they could hold more data. The bloody N64 could ;) ...of course, N64 games were a whole lot crappier back in the day...

Although not tested, I've heard you can't actually copy saves of GBTG off of an XBox; supposedly write protected or something, that disallows transfer to mem pak.

Can anyone confirm this?

No. He's wondering if the save file of the game is copy-protected. (If it is, then it wouldn't be possible to copy the game's save file from the Xbox's harddrive to a memory card.) Certain games have this feature enabled. I'd imagine it's because they wouldn't want you to copy a near-complete save file to a friend's card, allowing the friend to rent the game, beat it, and take it back, instead of actually buying it.

Yes, I tried it & it is copy-protected.
