All right, I searched the whole forums and found nothing like this.
This will probably be REALLY tough for some of you, and before voting read the poll.
No voting for Rare, sadly.
I'd have to say Nintendo, because they have bestsellers galore, and just keep getting better.
Edit: I stated not to vote for Rare, even though they are a gaming company that doesn't make systems, it's for the newer people who want to vote for Rare.

If I can't vote for Rare, I'd have to say Nintendo because they made the Mario games, my second favorite VG franchise of all time (first being B-K).
EDIT: Oh yeah, another main reason I chose Nintendo is because they made the N64, without which Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie would never have existed. :P

There's no Rare D:

But my next favorite is Nintendo. I love the Mario games ^^ and SSBM.

Since this is obviously a systems poll, why would you explicitly state Rare can't be chosen? They don't make systems ;)

I chose Nintendo. If this were a developer poll, I'd choose Valve Software.

For the hardware, I say the 360.

For developer, I'd say Atari.

Nintendo. I've been a fan of Nintendo since I was 6 years old, and I believe it's muuuch better than the PS and Xbox. D: Heck, I think nothing can beat good ol' Nintendo.

I like Nintendo and Microsoft equally. :) Nintendo for Zelda, Microsoft for Halo.

SEGA and Nintendo.

...

SEGA's not on there.

Not cool.

I chose Nintendo. If this were a developer poll, I'd choose Valve Software.

I think what he meant was "What is your favorite company that makes games? (a.k.a. 'developers' ;))"

So you actually could have voted for Valve :p.

He listed Nintendo, MS and Sony because they're the 3, huge, major label game makers. They're easy to list because by saying you like Nintendo basically means...you like Mario, Zelda and numerous other games (although saying you like MS basically means that you like Halo)

However, you can't go off and list all the 3rd party companies because there is just too many.

Nintendo, MS and Sony do make systems and games, so they kind of get bonus points. That's why he listed their accomplishments behind them. That's also why they are considered major label companies.

^ I would assume that is the meaning and thought process behind this poll, but correct me if I'm wrong Chillydark ;)

I chose Nintendo, because they almost always make a high-quality game and I have generally have more memories playing their games than I do with Sony.
In a close second is Namco. They make the superb Tales series and the Baten Kaitos games (only one exists as of now, but they're working on a new one, so I guess you could consider it a "series"), and some would argue that they make the Tekken games. Me, I don't really play the Tekken games as much, but some of my friends do and it also has a big following, according to the reviews :p. Rare would be about 3rd. Squaresoft/Square Enix would be 4th or maybe Capcom.

In no particular order: Nintendo EAD, Intelligent Systems, Bioware, Blizzard. (There's probably more but I can't think of them just now)

A few years ago both SEGA and Rareware may have been up there, however they certainly have no business there now.

Sega or Nintendo.

....

I'm leaning more toward Nintendo.

I don't like Sega. I picked Nintendo, I don't think Sony is going to get a vote. Who likes 500$ systems with $60-$100 games?

Without Nintendo Play station won’t even exist. And You Know It.
Nintendo is and always will be the best gaming company ever.

And thats a fact.

Pffffft.

Nintendo hands down.

The other companies scoffed at Nintendo's idea to revolutionize gameplay, especially Sony. Nintendo DS came out and Sony released the PSP thinking it had nothing to fear with the Big N's innovative technology. To their surprise, the Nintendo DS is outselling the PSP in both America and Japan (dunno about anywhere else).

Now that Nintendo showed off it's motion-sensing controller, did you notice how the PS3 has a motion-sensing controller now too?! Like, 3 months before E3, around the time Nintendo revealed the controller, the PS3mote wasn't motion-sensing...Hmmmm...Is Sony...afraid?

With Rare out of the way....I'd say Square (at its time as Square and not Square-Enix)=

Nintendo is my favorite company. I've been playing their systems the longest, and I find their games more fun to play. My second faveorite comepany would have been Sting (the people who made Riviera).

Gold was right. He was going more for console based whether he knew it or not. I mean, including MicroSoft but not a major company like EA is proof of that. Name me a game MicroSoft made without googling it >_>'.

With that said, I picked Nintendo... but if I was going by developer I'd sadly have to say Square-Enix. Kingdom Hearts is my favorite game series, ever, and despite the fact that people claim it to be overhyped, I enjoyed FF7 quite a bit too.

Off-topic banter: I look at FF7 the same way I look at Snakes on a Plane. For me, being a part of the game when it came out and was surrounded with hype is an added part of what made it great. With the new games out now, people look back and go "Bolol sucky game + hype ='d win". However, in five years anyone that sees Snakes on a Plane will think its the worst movie ever made.

And whether you want to admit it or not, FF7 made RPG's mainstream. You can hate it, you can even deny it, but FF7 was the first real RPG pioneer. Before there were a lot of RPG fans, but FF7 almost made it a staple genre on the PS. I mean, think of all the previous Final Fantasys, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Breath of Fires, even Super Mario RPG, and look at how limited their releases were beforehand. A ton of countries didn't even get that many, if ANY, copies of those games.

Nintendo is my favorite , Rare is still my favorite game developer. You can exclude rare from your poll but not from my reply ha ha.

Microsoft Flight Simulator? o-O

Or maybe that doesn't even count as a game..

And maybe "Microsoft" didn't actually make it..

Halo and Halo 2.

I'm almost certain they were the ones who made them.

They were made by Bungie. Point made.

Mystery Man
26th August 2006, 05:31 AM
Since you said developer, not publisher or company or console maker or some other word I can't think of, I'm going to say Treasure. Ikaruga to Astro Boy (GBA), they make great games, and don't dumb them down. Keeping 2D alive and kicking.

DemyGod

Yes Bungie made the Halo series. Nintendo is the best IMO. What cant they do? This idea with the motion sensor remote is genuis. Everyother system is going to stay at the same ol' ways, while people are experiencing the new age of video games. I think Nintendo will stay in the video game industry forever.

Why did square change their name? It makes things so confusing

Anyway even though I am a PS2 Person, I'd have to say Nintendo is the best ever!

Nintendo has that spark in their games that other gaming brands dont have

Also I recently purchased a N64 from a Second hand store, and i love it :D

I got one game from their and borrowed 4 games from my cosin (he doesn't play it anymore so I dont think he will care if I never give them back o-O

PS: What Gaming Company made Super Mario 64

PS: Did you know that half the people in my French class dont know who Super Mario is

Lol, I was gone for several weeks, then for some reason my topic stays updated.
I am now even more of a sony fan then before due to the almighty KH2 and Square's next upcoming project.
But still, I like Nintendo best.

Hakey Wake
15th September 2006, 08:13 PM
But Square-Enix developed the KH games, not Sony.

Edit: Ug, nobody say "Halo would suck on the NES" or anything, you know what I mean. ;)

Macsbuddy
15th September 2006, 09:42 PM
Dude....halo would ROCK on NES!!!! WHOOOO!!!

ahem..now...But really, I'm curious why so many people voted for Nintendo. By 'best gaming company' i thought it was about developers...unless we're referring to the vast array of Mario's and Zelda's. i like Nintendo...I'm sort of a fanboy, but I really like some 3rd party people more. Rare! Konami! SquareEnix! Namco! Hellooooo?
But Nintendo is a pretty good developer! go 8/16 bit!

Shoot, you beat me to it.

But....a solid title would be a good piece of software regardless of the system it's on.Yeah, but Sony supposedly signed a contract with Square providing exclusivity over the KH series. (I think)
That's what he meant.

Chain of Memories non-withstanding then? ;) (Although I have no idea how well that ties into the story or if it's more of a spin-off...:-/ )

Kingdom Hearts: COM (stands for computer) ties in almost significantlly. Kingdom Hearts 2 starts off where Kingdom Herts: COM left off. I guess you can play it and not miss anything, but it would still be pretty useful.

Anyway, on my stance of, "Best Gaming Company"...I would probably say Nintendo. For obvious reasons, of course.

By the way, has anyone ever played the game, "Threads of Fate"? It's a PS1 game made by Square (Soft).

I just honestly can't say anything other than Nintendo, since I play my NES constantly. ;)

LaorBR
16th September 2006, 07:38 PM
Chain of Memories non-withstanding then?
Yeah, just like SabreWulf and Grunty's Revenge, or the Spyro and Crash games for GBA.
;)
Because back then the PSP wasn't released yet.

Hakey Wake
16th September 2006, 10:13 PM
I don't really..follow, since Crash/Spyro have been multi-platform for awhile and Microsoft wouldn't let Rare release anything on a Sony system anyway. o-O

LaorBR
16th September 2006, 10:29 PM
The PSP part was about KH:CoM, not Sabrewulf or BKGR.
And you are right about Spyro and Crash. I didn't know about that.
>_>

Anyways, you got my point, right?
There's nothing wrong about a KH for GBA since Sony still didn't have a portable console by then (unless you count the Pocket Station, but that thing wasn't even considered a console - it was actually an accesory)

Hakey Wake
16th September 2006, 10:53 PM
Yeah yeah i can see what you're saying, I'm sure it would have gone to PSP had it been developed at a later stage...

Although I'm not so sure if it would now, I've heard quite a lot of developers are bailing on the PSP. (Although this could simply be Nintendo zealots on IGN telling me horrible lies)

LaorBR
17th September 2006, 12:51 AM
By the way, has anyone ever played the game, "Threads of Fate"? It's a PS1 game made by Square (Soft).
Why, it's one of my favorite Action-RPG on PSX.
Specially because of Mint. "It's world domination time!".
:D
Heheh she reminded me of Kazooie, well kind of.
It's sad that when you beat the game (with both Rue and Mint) they hint at a sequel... Hell they even introduce a character to be used in a sequel.
Unfortunately that's never happening.
I've heard quite a lot of developers are bailing on the PSP.
Well, I'd say you can expect at least a few millions of PSPs being sold when Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops gets released.
Maybe that will spark some interest in game developers?

I would hope so, especially in conjunction with the next GTA iteration, it is a rather sweet little device. :D
