There doesn't seem to be any solid fact... E3 is either going to be scaled down or cut.

By the sounds of it, it looks like companies who exhibit at E3 aren't happy about spending the amount of money it takes to put on their exhibits... in favour of, perhaps, proprietary conventions. Like id Software and their QuakeCon, or EA's showcase -- which they just had.

There's always PAX, too... in case E3 does go down the sh!tter ;)

My friend told me about this today. All I could think is...why?

This is disappointing news... :( Now how are all the companies supposed to show off their stuff at the same time? Having an event like E3 really helps to stir up excitement surrounding the Big 3. In fact I would say that E3 helps majorly to shed light on the video game industry. With something like 75,000 attendees a year, that has to prove something. Having individual events is something I don't think I'd like very much.

In other news, this year school actually finishes before E3 starts! I might've been able to go. Now what am I to do!

No need to worry about cancellation yet ... it's just being downsized. (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060730-7382.html) ;)
