I'd have to say Donkey Kong Country 2. I love the levels, graphics, gameplay, and music.

Donkey Kong Country 2, hands down. My love for this game runs very deep. It takes everything that made the first DKC wonderful and improved on it to create a platformer of near-perfection. Rare's creativity shines through in every aspect of this game, from the outstanding levels to the incredible music. The addition of DK and bonus tokens, and the awesome lost world, invited you to search the game for all its hidden secrets long after you'd beaten it. Let's not forget the whole piratey theme. And of course, it's just plain fun, with all types of levels from the action packed Rickety Race (my favorite; I love the high speed levels) to the caution-requiring bramble worlds and everything in between. I've owned this game for almost a decade and have probably played it more than any other game I own. I know just about everything about it.

Of course, DKC is awesome and comes in a close second. DKC2 just outshines it, though. DKC3 comes in last because it's... just not as good as the first two. Still enjoyable, but just not as good.

I third the notion that Donkey Kong Country 2 is the best of the trilogy. It's among my top favorite games of all-time. :approve: I pretty much agree with the points you and Princess J mentioned. Level design and music are what stand out most to me.

I remember picking up Donkey Kong Country for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back when it was first released. That was a fantastic game, and one of the best side-scrolling action games ever made. There were so many hidden secrets and bonus areas to find, giving the replay value a big boost. A great soundtrack, wonderful characters, a great boss battle, and one cranky old Cranky Kong. Since I only rented the sequels, I can't remember them as well. DKC2 was a lot of fun, and probably even better than the original. But the final entry into the trilogy was definitely not up to par with the others. It's the only one that I didn't finish, and didn't care to. Something about it just felt different. Perhaps I should grab a copy of it, just to give it another shot.

My favorite is DKC2 (It's about the ten-billionth time I try to spell "DKC" today, and every single friggin' time, I've mistakenly spelled it as DCK at first! Arrrgh!) because it's got such a cool motif to it. The whole pirate thing was awesome, to this day I still think of the kremlings as pirates, and the scenery for the various different stages was marvelous. Following DKC2 is DKC3, which did not feel as cool or exciting as its prequel, but at least it had more things to do and secrets to find than DKC. which is not to say I dislike the original. Isn't it odd that the title character was only playable in one game of the trilogy?

DKC2. I one of my very first and favorite games. Me and my friend would always imagine potential bosses for it.

I'm not going to vote on the poll because I havn't played DKC2, but I would have to say the original DKC. Who could deny the exellent classic? I thought the whole production was great and original like it's creators, even though it bombed in Japan...

Donkey Kong Country 2 is the best sidescroller ever. I loved Rattle Battle, Slime Climb, and both the final battles. The music was amazing... Especially Snakey Chanty and Bramble Blast.

And it has pirates. Argh.

I only owned the original DKC3, but got DKC2 GBA, which I think is better with the new additions, although I have yet to play the other GBA remakes. I never did really like the heavy character duo setups with DK and Kiddy, Diddy and dixie made a great agile fast moving team.
