I always wear my seatbelt... but damn... you don't realize how important they are until you experience an accident first-hand... :(
But as much as they can save a life... they sure hurt the chest...

I can't see any logical reason not to wear one.

I always wear mine. Sure, accidents are rare, but they happen. Always helps to be safe, ya know! :) But I don't like it in the middle of summer when you reach for one and the metal part is really, really hot. Ouch.

Ow, man... poor you... that's gotta huuuurt. To make it worse... you could be in a car with leather seats. And if you're wearing shorts so your skin sticks to the seat... owwwwwww.

Seatbelts have KILLED a lot of people too. Same with air brags. You're really throwing your luck around with safety devices in automobiles.

Seatbelts will save your life in way more times than it won't. Be a huge margin. Plus, do you really feel secure driving without it? Feel too loose.

Dude...what's with the insults in the poll? o_O I won't vote because I'm not a "f-ing" idiot and I don't wear a seatbelt. Darn contraptions don't do anything but hurt. I never cared for them. I only wear them when I'm forced to. Let the cops arrest me...O.o I just dun like 'em.

Well, that's your problem then ;) I'm sorry, but I'd rather have the chest pain that I have now, instead of a fractured skull from flying into the windshield :p

S'my opinion. Not a problem. o_o I've already been in an accident when I was younger. Didn't save anyone in the car from getting hurt when they had their seatbelts on.

well I think it WOULD be safer in the car than lieing on the road with cars coming towards you... unless cars blew up everytime they're hit, then I would take my chances on the road ;)

I can't see any logical reason not to wear one.
The only logical reason not to wear one is the irrational reason.

Cars: a very risky way of transportation. 50% chance you'll be safe, 50% chance you'll be killed of maimed in an accident. Seatbelts and other safety precautions can hinder or hasten the chance of injury. Cars can get you to your destination quicker, whether that destination is your house or the afterlife.
Maybe I'll just walk...

I wear my seatbelt, it's just plain common sense, but why did they have to make not wearing one illegal? Just let the morons drive without one and let the problem solve itself.

Because those morons might fly into someone else in the car who is wearing one and wants to live. It'd be more then likely that the moron would live and the other would be killed.

In minnesota you don't have to wear a seatbelt if you're in the backseat unless you're under 11, I know it doesn't make any sense...
By the way, I'm sick of hearing about seatbelts, damn drivers ed...

I fail to understand your point. How would someone not wearing a seatbelt cause them to fly into another persons car? It's not as if they are driving under the influence of mind altering substances. Also, if the person who was not wearing the seatbelt was the one to survive, then what does that say about seatbelts?

Maybe your just more sane then the rest of us ;)
I always wear my seatbelt. It doesn't cause me any pain, except when I'm trying to bend over when the car is stopping - and then the car automatically pulls the seatbelt. Minor annoyance, but you know what? I think its better then the alternativeS. Tickets, death, head injuries, head injuries from air bag, etc.
Come to think of it, this is probably the most worthless thread I have posted in for YEARS...Seatbelts? Don't we have more interesting stuff to talk about??
Edit
Also, if the person who was not wearing the seatbelt was the one to survive, then what does that say about seatbelts? It always depends on the situation. Were they in the back seat? In a non-impact area? If a car hit the person not wearing a seat belt head on, and the person survived, it can always be related to physics. The impact was distributed around the seat of the person, making it so that person didn't get most of the impact. Makes any sense? Thinking about it even more, all accidents are based on a ton of physics. Seatbelts don't account for most accident types, but they DO help when the airbags go off.

Yes, I know that. I was replying based on his logic though, which was, in exact words, "It'd be more then likely that the moron would live and the other would be killed."

I wear it myself for two reasons:
1)Get caught without one in FL, and you have a massive fine on your hands.
2)Safety. I've been in a wreck before, and it would have been a lot worse if not for the seatbelt. Also, I witnessed at a fairly young age a guy get decapitated in a car wreck on a road near my house because he flew out of his car (because he wasn't wearing the seatbelt), and the car flipped, and proceded to land on his head. He was dead instantly. Had he been buckled in, he would still be alive more than likely.

I dont really wear a seatbelt, it could kill you. But that one guy on Worlds Wildest Police chase (I think it was) was going over 100 m.p.h. and hit into the back of a truck and his car was destroyed in pieces and he just went through the window or something cuz he wasnt wearing a seatbelt. He was just in shock and not hurt at all. If he was wearing a seatbelt he would have died.

the philosophy behind liberty is to not ask the government to protect one from oneself. So if we can all prove that we are responsible enough to not need the law, we are on our way to greater freedom.
