Look, it's a joke. Get over it. This board was founded by Nintendo/Rare loyalists, and newcomers arriving in this generation of the console wars are bound to like or dislike one company or another. This place is probably the least fanboyish out of most boards in terms of the console wars, so be happy with you're relative peace.

Opinions are in the air!
My opinion is that gamecube games are not "too kiddy like". Even if they were, you're proving yourself as only enjoying games if they have "mature" graphics or are Uber violent. Gameplay is what makes a game good, and it fails to amaze me that you can't see that.
As for the Xbox, Halo isn't the only good game. There are many good exclusives that brought it to life, and the graphics aren't half bad either.
Don't get me wrong, Ps2 games aren't bad, It's just that I prefer my Xbox, Gamecube, Nintendo 64( Best system ever, aside from the SNES) and DS better.

I almost died when I read that post!
Choked one my coke when I ran across the word "perfect"
Let me break down this "Fanboy" thing for you...
As of right now we have four types of "Fanboy."
First off
Nintendo Fanboy (Misguided)
These are the mostly small children that have an obbsession with the plump plumber. Often getting in fights at school over the issue.
Retro Ninty Fanboy (Evangilist)
These are the ones that have been with Nintendo the longest. They are the most loyal of the Fanboys and can prove why Nintendo deserves their choice.
XBox Fanboy (Bully)
These are the ones that see MSoft as the "mature" way to go. They see all others as immature and are quick to Flame or Troll anyone with a different opinion. These are in actuallity the most Immature of the Fanboys.
And finally
Sony Fanboy (Fanatics - the bad kind)
Sony Fanboys are quick to use the words "perfect" and "best" in there posts. They like to clamour on about how great Sony is and they don't like to back up what they say. I've met several Sony Fanboys that were so thickheaded and violent I truly wanted to vomit. Sony fanboys aren't Misguided but they are the most Hardcore out there.
Sony had the best selling system and won the last Console war. That doesn't mean a thing. I honestly can't stand the thing. Lots of games. Nothing I'm truly interested in (aside from the Jak and Daxter series).
And to be completly honest.
Games have not been perfect since the SNES era. They've been going down the poop shoot for a long time.

No, tech-wise it's completely underpowered when compared to the standards set by the competition (well...unless you like load times?), they are notorious for DRE's (and sometimes just flat out breaking down) coupled with the Dual-Shock being the worst controller for the second gen running. (IMO of course)
just look at all the great games on it.
You could say that about almost any system ever created, I personally own a helluva lot more GCN titles than I do PS2.
people only liked xbox because of halo, which got really boring, really fast.
Yes it couldn't possible be due to the system being more powerful, having the best console online infrastructure ever, receiving the better builds of multi-platform games the majority of the time OR offering titles not available on the PS2. (Although to be fair, most were timed exclusives)
and the gamecube games were to kiddy like. the ps2 games were perfect.
Might want to do some research, the majority of children own PS2's. <3

And to be completly honest.
Games have not been perfect since the N64 era. They've been going down the poop shoot for a long time.
Fixed (in my opinion, of course ;)), and agreed. Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie were the last games I ever felt were worth the amount they cost. The current marketing strategy for Nintendo, as my dad and I have discovered, appears to be "Make crappy games that people will be finished with in a week so they'll buy more crappy games from us". Microsoft's strategy is "Make lots of M-rated games and hideously-large controllers to drive little kids away and go for the only people who haven't yet been brainwashed by the gaming market: adults". Sony's plan seems to be "Cut corners by taking what ideas you can from other products, even if that means using your competitors' ideas and/or technonogy that doesn't actually serve any practical purpose yet and probably won't for several years, then sell, sell, sell for twice what the opposition wants for their stuff". Pretty soon, though, all those marketing plans will likely quit working, and all three companies will find themselves in deep trouble, and the only people who will have been responsible for them getting to that position will be themselves. Then you know what they'll do? Keep using the same strategy because it's "tried and true", never figuring out that it was these strategies that got them killed in the first place.
[/angry raving]
These are just my opinions, though ... and no, I don't particularly like any of the three major developers at the moment ...
I personally own a PS2 and GCN, and I might get the Xbox 360 if there's ever a Banjo game on it or any other game I see as being worth my money.

I have all three consoles plus N64 , snes GBA , NDS and ps1 I don't care about consoles , the games are the most important thing to me. I bought the consoles because they had a game are two i wanted. I will get all three consoles again , in time that is.... I can't afford a ps3 till the price drops , But i will be getting a Wii at launch and a 360 for Christmas. All three consoles have exclusive franchises i like so again I'll be a tri-console owner. People get to fanatical about this stuff.

There are certain things I like and dislike about the PS2 and Gamecube and Wii and PS3, but for the fourth generation, The PS3 isn't really working for me. I love how people call Sony evil for overpricing things, then say that it's horrible and that they don't want it, so what is the point of worrying about its price?

Erm... Sony took out the rumble because they were sued by Immersion and were legally required to remove it (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060313-6366.html). The motion sensor had nothing to do with it.

Mainly the contoler and such...or maybe I'm confusing this board wit the idiots at IGN. Anyway, I'm not denying that it's an EXTREMELY well built system, just some people are being idiots. It's hard to find any news on the Nintendo boards when half of it is idiot topics about the Wii and PS3.

It's very well built for something that reportedly has to be kept in a fridge in order to keep it cool.
Or it's a fridge all on it's own, I forget.
</random teasing>
It's definitely well-built. It has to be. The problem lies in the cost of its parts. Namely its Blu-Ray features, which is part of Sony's latest attempt to push a new format on the world.
By no means do I hate Sony based solely on the PS3. I don't care about the PS3, and I don't care who buys it -- and I hope they enjoy their overpriced Blu-Ray player ;)

I think the "misguided" label is all opinion. I mean, look at the statistics of the PS2's systems compared to the Xbox and the GameCube.
PS2 - 100,000,000+

GaCu - 20,000,000+
Got that from Wikipeeeeedia.

Nah, PS2 ports are well known for having low framerate issues, less detailed (aka: blurried down) textures and you can tell at an eye glance that the screen resolution is sharper in Xbox games.
See also: much longer loading times!
Tanjo
12th September 2006, 11:14 PM
I want to see proof of that. And it dosent make sense to have longer loading times for "worse graphics".

Depends on the game AND the amount of VRAM available for textures.
Try playing RE4 on both the GC and a PS2. Look closely at the walls.

WHAT?!
You tell them to make a great graphic game for Coleco Vision. See how that works out for you.
They had to cut down framerate in Resident Evil 4 in HALF just so it would run on PS2. That's how underpowered PS2 was. GAMECUBE has sharper images and faster processing. X-box was even more of a powerhouse. I could only imagine a downgrade from that standpoint.
You can't figure out why there would be longer loading times with worse graphics? That's easy... lower processing power. Go try to open a video on a 256 MHz CPU and a 3.2 GHz Dual Processor CPU. See which loads faster.
You're starting to blur the line between opinion and fact. It's you're opinion that the PS2 is a good console. However, it's a FACT that it is severely underpowered in comparison to the other two. In your defense however, the PS3 will be an insane POWERHOUSE compared to Wii60.

How to become a misgided Sony fan: a three step easy guide by Macsbuddy
step one:
First you must realize the truth: the greatest game company to ever grace the earth does ot beleive in sony. although i think they made a game or two for the ps1, they were not masterpieces. After you have realized that you must accomidate yourself with the the most cookie cutter games on the face of the earth. after you have gotten a vast array of those, you can hit and miss on some other great games out there like a final fantas game, a version of ddr and mabye a katamari damacy.
step two:
The avrage misguied sony fan must then sell a bunch of stuff in order to gat up to the $600 mark for a new ps3. selling your dreamcast and your 254 games should surfice, but if you do not have that, selling furnature will work also. However, in some cases, you might just have to get a job until you can get $600 that you can spend on it.
step three:
now, you must put down nintendo and microsoft because there is nothing really else to do. probably the best way to do this is to brag to a nintendo fan that the ps3 will have a motion sensative controller and the wii is just a cheap knockoff. now, run like hell because he/she is reaching for the closest weapon.
in all seriousness, the ps2 was pretty good...i doubt this time next year i'll be able to say the same for the ps3...
