So, I'm going to make video games for a living if and when I move out. (Several years away)
And I've been thinking. If and when I get the chance to direct my own game, I'm going to put in the most bizzare code or sequence ever.
Think of all the crappy BK SNS "theories" and LoZ how to get the triforce things. It'll be like that. No strategy guide will give the details on this code, no hints will be given, no direction on what to do next, and any ingame text at that point will sound uncharactaristically fake.
Then I'll time how long until it gets released to the public, and how long until the public actually realizes that it's not fake.
What meaningless tasks should I make them do?

Program one seemingly inaccessible corner of the largest area in the game to be a warp to another seemingly useless area and make another part of that area lead to a secret room with a glitched-up looking character blob in it that tells you an extremely long code sequence (i.e. I LIKE FRIES SO GIVE ME A SECRET THING THAT WILL GIVE ME SECRETS TO UNLOCK SOME FRIES) to enter in a code chamber. Make it unlock something really boring, like an unusable soundtest with no songs ever appearing in it, or perhaps something worthwhile like an actual soundtest.
And it has to have a song that appears nowhere else in the game called "I LIKE FRIES" so it will have something to do with the code itself. :p

It should have something to do with finding really obscure items in the least obvious of places, a place that's very hard to describe, and not near any landmarks, like in Hyrule field in OoT.

I was thinking of making the person strike a specific rock out of a rock pile a random number of times, and they can't move while doing it, so they'd have to find a way to wedge themselves between a wall and the rock so they would stay in one spot.
And of course, the random using expensive items over and over again.

How about you make them press a certain ingame button 100 times to make a necessary item appear. For example.
*After the 100th time* WOW! The key to the final temple was in your pocket the whole time! Who would've thunk it?
Or.....the classic annoying scene:
"You use the key in the last temple, and a shadow comes out! It wants a hot dog, which are found in your house!
You go to your house, but the hot dog machine was moved to a hut outside of the last temple!
At the hut, the hot dog machine is broken, and the parts are found at your house!
You get the parts and go to the hut!
You give a hot dog to the shadow, but he wanted ketchup! You have some in your room...."
NOTE: Your room is in the first world.

He then wanted relish. Lolz. heres what I would think funny: '' You solved the final puzzle! The way to the first level is open! How will you open the oth-YOU RIP OUT YOUR GAME IN RAGE. Suddenly, your game starts saying '' Go to the last level to unlock a secret! '' You do so, (After many paradoxes) and you unlock...A beating.

Hit the rock 968 times. (No more, no less)
At a point, the code will fork, if you choose the wrong way, You'll have to remember the first 100 digits of Pi and reenter them in order in 9 seconds. If you do that, you'll get to go an area with no coding. All it would say is Welcome to Purgatory. It'll be white and empty. You'll just fall forver. (Right after it autosaves of course.)

Congragulationexatively! You unlocked gills! Now going to: The Sahara desert. The way to the ocean is closed! You cannot breathe. Hit a tiny dot 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times to grow back lungs. But you need a spear from the ocean first...
Zounds. Sounds like Zelda. :P

Game: Oh, no! You just breathed poison gas, and you will die very soon! Yoiu must get the antidote from the store! You only have 8!
Player: 8 what? The store's about 8 minutes away, I guess....
Game: 7! 6! 5......

This code will be this shiz night.
The last step will show a password (different for everygame) 25 characters long that will only last for 10 seconds. Then you enter that password in the sequel two years from then.
I'm also thinking of having a BK conspiracy involved with the code. (I.E. a short cut involves unlocking a special thing, or egg, that should be explained fully in the sequel, but won't be.)

You should be like BK and have the item that the whole game is about (An item that looks awesome and that is in the opening sequence and everything) in some random level behind a thin glass wall that you can't break with anything in the game. you are like breakin rock walls by punchin' it but can't break the glass with a bomb. And have some random code on how to open it just to drive every one mad.
