View Full Version : Most annoying mini-game

So um yeah... What's the most annoying mini-game you've ever played in a game?

I would say the Chocobo Racing in Final Fantasy X. Getting under 0:00.00 for the Sun Sigil has to have been one of the worst mini-game experiences for me. I wanted to break my controller before I actually got it.

I agree!! It took me about 50 tries to get that damn Sigil! ><
I say that FFX had the most annoying mini-games in the series. I am not dodging 200 damn lightning bolts for Lulu's Venus Sigil. I didn't even TRY with the butterflies. Aside from that, there are a lot of other annoying mini-games in the games I've played.

The Gold Saucer in FF7 had some fun games and some annoying ones. I LOVE the snow-boarding game. XD Chocobo Racing/Breeding is always a treat, except when you don't have a Gold Choco and Teioh shows up in a race. OW.

FF9 didn't have many annoying mini-games. Chocobo Hot and Cold was a lot of fun. However, finding some of the Chocographs was really a pain in the behind. The 'Ocean' one was evil. Pure evil.

All of FFX's mini-games were annoying, except the Cactuar quest. That was fun. And Cactuars are cute. ^^

FFX-2 had a lot of mini-games, and I liked most of them. The Calm Land's games were fun, even though the only one I'm good at is Reptile Run. XD Gunner's Gauntlet was a lot of fun, and we all love the 'Blind Spot' trick. XD The 10 Gatekeepers thing with the Cactuars was enjoyable, even though I didn't win against any of them. The only thing I hate is the Via Infinito. EVIL!! Damn you Elder Drakes!!! *stab stab stab* And though he's more of an extra boss than mini-game, the fight with Angra Mainyu was evil. I beat him (whoo!), but it seriously took me over 2 hours.

God, this is a huge post for just mini-games. :p Out of all of those, I'll say that the lightning dodging game in FFX is the worst.

Um...does every mini-game in Mario Partys 1-5 count?

TEIOH and his rider JOE!!! I wanted to rip his freaking hat off almost as much as I wanted to tear that pom pom straight of the Chocobo lady's head in the Calm Lands... Then I got a gold chocobo, heh. ^_^

I didn't care for the blind spot trick in Gunner's gauntlet so much. I never got enough points doing that. I preferred the "kill the big enemy on the last screen that drops one hit kill ammo over and over and over" trick. ^_^

And the Via Infinito. >_<

Final Fantasy X seems to be the worst for minigames I think.

Anyway R Hunter, yeah, minigames from Mario Party and every other game count. Is there any one in particular that you specifically hate?

Hard to narrow it down but I'd have to say Bombs Away from Mario Party 1. Just as your about to win the game the computer pushes you into an incoming bomb:mad:

I thought getting under 0:00 was easy on the chocobo game personally. On the other hand those lightning bolts...WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT? It wasn't difficult it was just tediously annoying. Its like...a half hour of standing still then pressing an arrow button. WHO CAME UP WITH THAT?

Most annoying mini-game? ...The fishing ones from BK: GR. There was like 3 or 4...and they were all almost the same..and they were incredibly lame.

Shell Shock at the end of the roller coaster on Mario Party 2.

What? Nobody's mentioned that Canary Mary load of crap in Banjo-Tooie? And you call yourselfs "annoying mini-game haters"...

For me it has gotta be Roller Coaster Ballons in SMS. Still haven't beaten that darn thing...

Oh yes... Canary Mary... And I had tried so hard to forget her, too.. Yes... AAAAAAARGH!!! I also hated those messed up first person mini-games like Clinkers Cavern and the Dynamite thing... >_<

The Mario Party games sound harsh. I'd probably be bad at them. :p I've never really played them though. I have Mario Party 4, but playing it with just one person doesn't seem like it would be that fun.

I agree that the lightning thing in FFX was boring. They should have lowered the requirement to only 50 or something. It just took too long. Also, now I remember the only cellestial weapon I didn't fully power up in FFX... Wakka's. Blitzball has to be the most messed up minigame in existance... I got attack reels, but I don't really feel like playing the hundred or so more games it will take to get the right prizes to appear and win them. It's very annoying. Especially in the beginning when your shooting stat would be maybe 5 or 6 and yet the block stat for the Goalie would be around 10 or 15... That is impossible to win against. They shouldn't force you to level up just to be able to have a chance at winning, and then make you play a lot just to get to a tournament where the prizes you want appear. Then there's the fact that I just plain hate most sports.

Those fishing mini-games in BK:GR seemed like they were just slapped in there or something. That and the sheep thing... It was just... lame as was said.

The roller coaster balloon thing in SMS was messed up too. It took me a few tries. It always takes me a while to get down the flow for shooting games like that.

The only time I played Blitzball was during the required event in Luca. That's it... I HATE IT. RPG fans usually aren't sports fans, too. Then again, my party in FFX was usually Tidus, Rikku and Lulu. (But I had to make a custom-made Celestial weapon for Lulu because of those damn lightning bolts. You get 'Soul of Mog' if you custom-make the Onion Knight. Kupo!) I'd sometimes switch Yuna in to summon an Aeon, too. Heheh, Anima ROCKS. x)

GAAAAAAH!!! CANARY MARY MUST BUUUUUUUUURN!!! The only way I was able to beat her was with a turbo controller. But trust me, when you use one against her... it's fun. Really fun. You'll be so far ahead of her... then you get to laugh yer arse off and say "HA!!! Take THAT, ya stupid bird!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Clinker's Cavern took me forever the first time around. x_x I'd always miss one of them and then not be able to find it. But it's the best place ever for multi-player because everybody will get lost. XD

Those underwater levels from Crash 3! Those almost ruined the game for me!!!

CANARY MARY
Her races will annoy
And turn you evil
Better be ready and wary
For her Jiggy and Page ploy
Time to take an anger pill
Because you're racing CANARY MARY

I also have a deep and eternal hatred for a few of the mini-games in DK64. Can't remember specifics, just know that they really frustrated me.

God, I love this topic. :p

The underwater levels in Crash Warped were annoying, but not as bad as those airplane levels where you had to shoot down blimps/planes. x_X

DK64... ARCADE DK GAME!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!! X_____x I never beat the game because of that thing! May it burn in Hell for all eternity!!!!

Donkey Kong 64... *shudders*

I thought about Canary Mary, but I didn't consider it a mini-game so I didn't say it. Then again, I don't really consider dodging the lightning bolts in FFX a mini-game and I said that. Er...yeah.

I didn't have a problem with the underwater levels until they made you do speed runs to get the better relics. Then nothing ever lined up the way you wanted it to to go fast, and you'd always get shocked or killed by something, then you'd never get the gold or platnium relic, then you could never open the other stages...bah.

Or I think they were stages anyway? Having a lot of gold relics did something lol.

Lol. I hated that game the most just because it was like an infinite loop. You be one character, collect his items, then the next character and collect their items, then each character goes to the shops to upgrade... and then do that all over in the next level! I even tried getting all 200 bannanas with Gameshark, but even THAT proved difficult...

^ DK64 did have quite a few horrible mini-games.

That whole game was just fetch-quests and stupid mini-games at it's worst... I got 61% through it before I just stopped playing. It was just so tedious and long and boring...
