Now, please lock this if it's been done before. I did a quick search, and didn't come up with anything. And please, don't turn this into a flame war or anything of the sort.

Anyways, I've been pondering this for a long time now: should I buy a Wii or 360? The thing is, I've saved up for a Wii already (I have $500 Canadian, so hopefully I can at least get a game or two, or some extra controllers), and I'm really close to gettinga 360. However, I won't be able to save up for both by Christmas. So I need your opinions, people of the RWP forums.
I find the Wii to be extremely unique. The controller is definitely a very high selling point. I find the Wii to have some classic franchises (Mario, of course, for example), and I would highly enjoy playing these games with this amazingly innovative controller. Plus, I can buy some old-school Gamecube games and play those. AND (!), if I so choose to, I can download really old-school Nintendo and Sega games.

But then there's the Xbox 360. I already have an Xbox, and am a huuuuuge fan of the Halo series. So if I wanna complete the trilogy, I NEED a 360. And of course there's those other Halo games that were jus announced. Then the new Banjo game (and I'm obviously a huge fan of those games too since I'm a member here). I've played all the Banjo games, and have owned all at one point (yes, even the two GBA ones. And I enjoyed both very much). So if I want to continue the franchise, I need a 360.

So in the end, what should I choose? The new, fresh, innovative console that gives me all the Nintendo fun I could ever ask for? Or shall I go with the more "hardcore" console to be able to complete my two favourite franchises? And please, if you do answer, I'd appreciate the reasons for your thinking. Because maybe you've taken certain things into account that I didn't.

This could also be a general topic for why people may choose 360 over Wii, or vice-versa. But of course, explain your thinking. And excuse the wall o' text post. At least it's separated to a certain degree.

Coincidentally, there's a thread just like this in the Xbox forum.

Since you guys have relatively the same problem, I'll just copy what I told him:

Well... if you had to choose ONLY one console, my personal choice would be the Wii. Nintendo has Mario and Zelda, and those reasons alone are good enough for me, but the Wii has much to offer for a more reasonable price of $250 [USD] (versus $400 [USD] for the "complete" Xbox 360 package).

But cost aside, the Wii will provide you with something that the Xbox 360 can't. And that's something Nintendo has been touting as innovation. I suppose this is the major turning point for the Wii -- the Wii Remote. Handheld pointing and motion detection in three dimensions. This alone fundamentally changes the way we play games. But if that's not your style, that's okay. From what I hear Nintendo offers the classic controller for your "traditional" pleasure, so you can play games in the manner you grew up with.

This controller is used also inconjuction with Nintendo's virtual library. You'll be able to download many of Nintendo's past games from the NES, SNES, and N64. But that's not all; you'll also be able to choose from games that Sega Genesis, PC Engine, Commodore 64, and the MSX home computer had. Not to mention the Wii is also backwards compatible with the GameCube.

Another thing about the Wii that'll probably be huge is it's Internet connectivity. It will be provided with Wi-Fi like the Nintendo DS and, of course free! If you've ever experienced playing Mario Kart DS or Animal Crossing online, then you know how much fun it'll be when Nintendo takes other future games online too. But it has more in terms of online content than the DS for sure. Look up WiiConnect24 and the Wii Channels on Wikipedia. There's too much to list, so it'd be better if you checked it out yourself.

So there you have some of the reasons why I'll be making the Nintendo Wii my priority this November. Nintendo's got a healthy number of launch titles accompanying it too. Need more reasons? Let me know! :)

Oh man, I'm really sorry for posting pretty much the same thing as him. Frig. I feel dumb now. But thanks for the feedback!

Sorry for the double post, but could someone lock this? I don't want to lose any rep because I posted almost the same thing as someone else. Plus I don't want to look like an ignorant fool.
