Guess what? I got a new comp and XP, but...
My old hard drive died. Everything I had is gone. My pictures, music, everything is gone. And I feel like shit. Excuse my language.
God, this SUCKS...

I know exactly how you feel. Well, sort of. One time I was going to format my C drive, but my second backup drive somehow got erased instead. I lost everything on it due to my general incompetance and stupidity. The worst things I lost on that were level maps for some games and some Flash movies that I had made. I've gotten over it, but it still aggrivates me.

You're excused ;) Although it's an understatment... I wanted to put my head through the wall after I lost everything on my backup drive. Nothing really explains the emotions following computer problems... :-/

I have a 1GB hard-drive, and a 50GB hard-drive, so why everybody in my family dumped all their programs and software onto the 1GB one is beyond me.
But now the entrie computer slows down whilst doing anything and everything is scattered around the smaller drive so it's impossible (because i'm lazy) to locate huge bits and pieces that are taking up lot's of room.
Really, not as bad, but it still makes me want to scream.

I've got about 50% of my hard drive stored on CD's, so unless they die on me, I've got myself a small insurance policy.

Thanks, guys. Guess this has happened to a lot of people... and I hadn't thought about burning CDs when this happened. >< *kicks self*
Well, I got most of my programs back, and I'm loading up on pictures again. Heheh, already over 100 pics of Kuja... I had about 180 when I lost the old hard drive. Yes, I'm crazy. And proud of it. XD

Same thing happened to me Kaz. It was my first comp and I had it loaded with all of this info on games and anime and stuff of that nature but one day as I was looking through all of it a storm came outta nowhere and erased everything! I was in shock that all of that data that took me months to get was gone in seconds:mad:   Now I'm careful and check the weather every time i'm on just to be safe

Ack, that's a terrible thing to have happen. I'd hate to lose all of my files and stuff. It's never happened to me though. I think I must be one of the only people to whom it hasn't happened... or so it seems by looking at this thread.

Nope I also haven't had anything bad like this happen to me John. I guess we're blessed with good CPU fortune :p.
That would be terrible...I can't imagine losing everything. The Mp3s and such wouldn't bother me, they are redownloadable, but some custom works, AIM conversations, etc are unreplaceable..

Sounds nasty, poor you. :(
If my computer did that all i'd lose that is important to me is about 15 pictures of evanescence, 4 lord of the rings pictures and some homework crap i'll probably need soon. The most grief my computer has ever given me is when it just stopped working on christmas day (when i had some new games i wanted to try out.) a few weeks later we got the problem sorted out.
On the subject of computer problems, my printer doesn't accpet the paper i feed it. When i switch it on it basically eats it, scrunches it up then spews it back out again i think there may be a blockage in the bit the paper goes through but i dont know how to get it out. could someone tell me a (safe) way to unblock it?

I've had my computer do some weird things but luckily most the time i'vebeen able to get the data back. I've just recently (Sundy) brought upgrades for my computer and have had to back everything up.
I bought a 256Mb Radeon 9600Pro Video Card, 200Gb HDD, 15" LCD Screen and Some new speakers.
This gives me 240Gb of HDD space and better quality everything. Now i also have backups of everything incase something does happen (4 DVD-R's full)

Yatta: Japanese for "You did it".
Oh, and All Your Yatta Are Belong To Us.
Sorry that happened Kaz, something like that would really tick me off, most of the stuff on my HD can't be replaced.
