Well you knew it was coming...and I know some of you already have it as well. :)

Today was the first chance I've had to sit down and play the newest entry of the Final Fantasy series, but from what I've seen I wish I had time yesterday as well: This thing looks to be bloody epic.

Anyways, I'm fairly impressed with the game so far, although...it's not really...mainstream FF. While I'm digging the new battle system, I sort of miss the random encounters and battle fanfares that tag-along with it. It literally feels like KH style controls without being to jump, roll and the like (or button mash at times). I mean that's not a bad thing, on the contrary the system is pretty cool, but it just doesn't feel like FF really. Edit: Other sites have said it's basically the same system Vagrant Story had. Sadly though I never played VS to compare or whatev'.

The music is the one thing I am disappointed about though. So far there just hasn't been anything memorable. I'm sure there will be some later down the line, but it's certainly nowhere near Uematsu or Mitsuda level by any means.

The story is, however, full-blown FF style. Seeing how it relates to Tactics in ways is just an awesome kicker. I've barely scratched the surface of it, but from what I've read it looks pretty bad-ass.

So what do you all think so far? Feelings on the the battle system/Gambits?

I have the demo , must be the same battle system but yeah I feal the same way I miss the old battle system...
but hey out with the old and in with the new.

Im 100% sure I won't buy this game , so I won't comment on anything else.

Getting it very soon, hopefully. "Have game, will report."

I expect good things. Ivalice > most other Final Fantasy settings. Plus, it looks gorgeous. I'm always looking for something to top IX :)

Beat me to it. :p

I own the game, but I won't be able to play it until this weekend (I have a lot of schoolwork to do this week). I got the collector's edition, along with the limited edition strategy guide (which came with an artbook!). It looks like it'll be great! Like Blank, I'm curious to see if this one will shove FFIX out of the "favorite FF game" spot in my head. Probably not, but who knows.

But... no Uematsu? D: Curses. It can't be as bad as the X-2 OST, though... right? I hope?

That's no strategy guide; it's a gigantic textbook. I usually don't pick them up myself, but when I saw the fact that it was huge I figured it'd probably be a good thing to just have on hand. o-O

I'm not sure if this'll jar FFIX out of the top spot (or FFVI out of mine), but it's definitely a great game with strong roots in FF Tactics. Strangely enough the game feels a lot like FFIX in ways and honestly there are times I half expect Freya's theme to start playing.

Also minor minor minor minor spoiler:

Also: The battle victory fanfare does show up but only during boss battles. The big "Congratulations" that flashes on screen is pretty cheesy though.

It looks like it will be a good game, but i still need to finish X (i now know the true importance of leveling) and the other ff's that i still want to play that i havn't gotten yet. I might get it later though.

note on spoiler: you mean...no do-do-do-doo-doo-do-doo-doo-doooooo!?!?

This game has Star Wars references flowing out of every orifice. I half expect to hear the Imperial March/Vader's Theme play whenever a judge shows up.

Everything else flavorwise feels like FFIX (and Tactics) crossed with LoZ's Majora's Mask.

Well good! Those just happen to three of my all-time favourite games EVAR! :approve:
