They bring up some interesting points, such as how the PS1 dominated the generation even after releasing a year ofter the Dreamcast. It also shows similarities in quotes and mentality that helped/didn't hinder the PS1/2.
However, it's not all good. They do show the negative side in the second article, such as the massive less amount of hype, and the 200$ price difference. But the main point of bringing your attention to this is that the PS3 isn't as dumb of a move as many would think.

That was very interesting indeed. I'm starting to believe that the PlayStation 3 isn't going to do as poorly as early analysis and a lot of initial hype for the Wii60, lead many people to believe. Though I still think Sony's going to hurt a little and lose market share. Perhaps it'll still dominate, but with a smaller chunk of the pie.

This article didn't convince me at all. There going to do great in sales but once people see there is nothing new with PS3 except Graphics, Sony is going to get a bit screwed.

You all know my opinion on sony. But, i dont think ill be owning a ps3 any time soon. As long as GoW2 comes out on the ps2 ill have no need for one. Mabye when the price comes down and they make a smaller version 4 years after it comes out :P

Dreamcast....
Bah, Sony looks as though they're bound to fail. The 360 is probably going to be at the top, Wii second, and the PS3. But, something could of course happen. I mean we all thought the GCN was going to über l33t, but it failed. So, who knows...
Unless more people get shot and have their PS3s stolen, or something.

The PS3's launch has been a sickening display of greed and violence... as if the gaming industry needs it, concidering all the anti-violent political protestors that shoot their mouths off... this launch will only add more gasoline to their raging fire.
It's bad enough there are people who shrug off the $600+ price, but to go so far as to shoot and rob people for it... it's just absolutely ridiculous. Kotaku is littered with line-violence stories.
I bet Sony are proud.
